Good morning. Happy Christmas Eve day. It is cooling down here and I will be lighting my stove again. We have had a couple of nice but windy days.

Rod & I are feeling better...but not 100%. I assume if this trend is to continue we will be OK tomorrow but we asked Emily her opinion she would rather we not go around them. So no matter how well we feel we will stay home.
Rod just asked me what we were going to do...I said I guess stay home, as most stores would be closed and the ones that would be open & would not want to patronize.
Sad thing is I have nothing "out" to make us to eat for romorrow....

I am so glad you checked in, Carol. I was thinking, like Nana, that you had eaten something a little off. Not enough for a full blown ER trip with food poisoning, but just a little. That is what it sounded like to me.
Carol, you really need to keep some extra food in the house. Maybe not a 3 year supply some crazy preppers (or me) have but enough to carry you through a blizzard this winter or flooded roads or something. Cans of soup for you and whatever Rod would prefer for himself. Sandwich stuff.
I hope you have a great Christmas as well.

I am glad you checked in too Carol,, sounded like food poisoning to me too... just makes you feel like crap for a few hours usually... no fun so glad you are feeling better... I am been miserable for last few days but meds finally kicked in and I am okay today- just more tired then usual but weather is changing so it could be due to that..we are to get snow tomorrow afternoon...

I usually keep something extra and easy to cook or warm up in my freezer... have some crock pot meals bagged with ingredients together to throw in crock too if I don't feel like cooking... hope you have something you can cook. thaw out in cold water at least...

We tried to go get tamales today but place was closed.. hopefully will be open Fri or this weekend so we can get some for New Years...we usually get them early but for some reason didn't occur to either of us till today... no fun getting old!

Got my guest room all set up for kids and baby to arrive in a couple hours.. got lasagna in oven baking and will make some shrimp and salad too... have a bunch of snacks too .. my nephew and her girlfriend are only 18 so think they like junk stuff mostly.... good kids though and working hard in school to make a good life for themselves and baby Zander...

Well off to check oven and decide what I am going to watch tonit till kids get here..

I HATE THIS LAP TOP COMPUTER...I NEVER lost whole posts on the Desktop..but I do on here all.the.time.

ANYWAY:
Rod is back to normal...I am about 90% back to normal.

Tina: I have a house full of food. The freezers are full and the pantry is full. There is even various breads in the freezer. What I meant was that there was nothing easily fixed & at the ready so to speak.

AS Rod got a container of meats from Omaha Steaks as a Christmas gift from his work company we will have some of the Pork chops tomorrow. I finally went out & dug them from the freezer (it is in the garage) along with a package of steak fries from them as well. That will be my Christmas dinner.

It sounds as if you have everything coming along, nana. I wish you and your family a wonderful time.

I am sorry I misunderstood you, Carol. I was envisioning a wilted carrot and a half carton of milk in your fridge. Pork chops sound wonderful too.

Tina it was not your fault. I am the one who made it sound that way..and oh--there is 3 cases of water in the basement for such "happenings" as you spoke of.

We've had rain for the past several weeks and it poured today. I'm a little tired of being wet.

We had more fun than should be allowed at Stone Mountain, GA but we were wet there too.

I have a house full of food. But often none of it sounds good. I run into the nearest grocery store looking for something that appeals to my current appetite.

DH is out at work since we had freezing rain. It is just normal rain at the moment but we are forecast strong winds with it this afternoon. Rain for Christmas is just unheard of here.

Grandgirl is still sleeping, we had a hard time to get her to sleep last night...although I hope she sleeps in until DH gets back home.

Carol, here the movie theater in town is open on Christmas Day...if it is there, why not catch a movie with Rod?

Thank you ladies SO very much. It means a lot to have you be so kind to me. Yes the movie Theaters are open, Sunny. I mentioned that To Rod, but with the exception of 1 GP movie, there is none I really want to see...plus I am not feeling 100% as of yet. So, sadly, Emily was right in her decision.

Tina, My house is usually full of food, but yet I too go out for something that sounds good & is perhaps easier to prepare.

I guess we are fortunate that we can do such as that, huh ??

I am drinking my first cup of coffee since Monday...it is staying down, but is not setting really well either...

My older son came up last night. My older daughter is coming up about 10 am. So we will all be together for a bit of brunch and gifting.
Dinner tonight will be homemade chicken noodle soup along with leftovers from brunch. Keeping it simple.

Simple is often the best way, Tina. ( I LOVE homemade chicken soup)
being together is what counts. Enjoy the day !!

We are enjoying having a baby here... got my deviled eggs ready to take to Carrie's, going to make the green bean casserole in a few minutes.. load up car and go over... my son's family is staying home and keeping flu to themselves .. sure hope they feel better soon.... will take them their stuff on Sun after snow is over... we may get a lot they say...

We have it in my family as well. My "other" great niece has a temp & a cough but otherwise is eating & playing normally. Her Momma is a Nurse Practitioner so it was easy for her to test her little one for the Flu & she showed negative...so it is likely just a cold.

BUT then my nephew (the NP's brother) has a low grade temp & is not feeling so well. This is bad as his wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant..

WE can all hope for feeling better for next year....

It was pretty quiet here...the weather was too bad to travel so others landed in and out as the day passed. We had lots of food so they helped themselves and even helped me clean up. Leftover turkey for today with lots of rest ahead.

I slept well but I feel like I just ate a BIG holiday meal again this morning....Come to find out Rod is not feeling well once again. WE were going shopping to buy one another gifts today or tomorrow, but I do not know how when that will happen...

it is bright & sunshiny here---but I think the temps are to go down slowly but surely over the next few days. 41*F right now though.

I am sorry you are still having problems, Carol. I hope they fade quickly.

We woke up to about 6 inches of newly fallen white stuff out there, we kept nephew and his gf and baby here for another night.. was coming down to hard to try to get them home then,, we will take them sometime later today... we all had a good time last evening, Carrie made a wonderful ham dinner and we ate every bite... kids are had a ball and just had a good time.... We had to tease my nephew's gf , she was so excited cause of the snow... she is from Las Vegas and hasn't seen a lot of snow before... she didn't bring her good shoes though and like to froze her feet getting to car last night... good thing I gave her a pkg of slipper socks to wear while her little mocasin type shoes dry out!

Well off to the showers and try to think of something to make for lunch before we take kids home... been a lazy morning here so far...

It was a semi busy morning. I had no real plans but I have been picking up and straightening and general cleaning most of the day.

Yes, it sounds like you had a wonderful time, Nana, and that is great. Tina, The straightening up sounds good too. Wish I felt up to doing that. The good news is the "Christmas mess" is beginning to annoy me, so I must be getting better.
Rod & I made plans for tomorrow for "IF we are feeling better".

Thanks to my 2 hour nap today I am wide awake though.
