I second the that's good news Carol..I too am on the brink of osteoporosis .. have the precursor to it... but since I added more calcium and vit d to my pills it's better... I watched my Mom shrink as she aged and I really don't want to do that... at 5 ft nothing I don't have much height to lose!

I am going over to Carrie's to watch boys and her niece while she takes her taxes in with Jon and Joseph to get done... she is doing better today she says- less pain... but no improvement in how she feels...

Well I am off now.... my stew smells really good in the crockpot- will make some biscuits when I get home again and dinner is done...... snow is melting fast too - now just slush left on streets....

Have a good evening all!

I, too, am glad Carrie is feeling better.
I have gotten to the point where I'm trying hard to stay awake. All I want to do is go to sleep. But it's way too early.

Good morning.

Yay for the good news on Junie and Carrie kissie

I jinxed myself on the power...it was out all night. And I can't sleep without the sound of a fan. rspb

Ash Wednesday today...a day of fasting and no meat for many.

Yes, Ash Wednesday.
WE will not be fasting here, and try as they might to get us to voluntarily give up something for lent, not many Lutherans that I know do so. I know I do not. I will say my Daughter usually does. I am assuming her catholic husband does as well.

Rod says we will go to church tonight, but we will see when he comes home. He is usually done in when he gets home at night these days.

Good morning, Tina. Thanks for the well wishes.

It snowed again here...but luckily we only got about 1 more inch.
I have just swept off the porch and a walk way down the driveway to my mail box. If it were not so cold out, I might clear off the apron of the driveway...but alas, it is cold & the weather guy says it will not get any warmer as the days goes on.

Thanks again, Tina.

Just came in from getting the mail.

Would someone explain to me WHY I have water sitting on my porch?? It is 17*F outside and the wind is blowing to beat the band. YES, it is sunny, but really ?? water ??....so that it can freeze and I then have ice to deal with ???

Cause your porch is warmer than the rest of the yard and the wind makes air warmer? We get that too... it can be really cold and some parts of the yard melt away and the rest is still full of snow and ice..right now and yard is still full of snow , roads have melted and cleared which is nice... but still freezes at night and we have to watch out for icy patches... we will have to go to Sams and take our taxes in today ... tomorrow is Carrie's doc visit... so praying it does like it is supposed to not like last time... even waiting is better than her having to go thru that again... at least her boss is making sure her job is okay...

I slept in today... even went to bed early- must have needed it... thinking I am trying to catch a cold but doing what I can to not let it take hold... orange juice for breakfast and sipping tea today... Joe said he woke up that way too... and coughed last night... got to be this weird weather ,, did I tell you my daffodils are coming up.. sure hope they do it slow.. its supposed to snow again this weekend..

Well off to finish kitchen from breakfast... get the day started - do the errand running....

Have a wonderful day all!

Thanks Nana. I do so hope that the wind blows the porch dry though.

Can't you use salt or sand on the porch to stop it from getting too slippery, Carol?

sure I can, Tina....but luckily the wind got rid of most of the ice. I think if it stays as it is, I can walk around what ice is left.

But thanks for the reminder--I just happen to have some sand in the garage for a back-up plan.

Falls can happen so quick....be safe everyone.

It is snowing again, only 6 inches though in the forecast. For being the shortest month, February seems to be the longest.

Good Morning everyone. I did sleep 7-1/2 hours, but I could have slept longer.
yes, to my notion, February is the longest month, not a short one. It is 4*F outside right now(7:30am). And supposedly it is not going to get any warmer today.

Wind chills go from -5 to -20. No wonder I am cold in the house.
In my furnace's defense, I will say that I have not ever gotten used to not having that wonderful wood heat, and then the blood thinners do not help me either.

I am wishing winter away too.. it's nice today but supposed to get snowstorm tomorrow evening... last time they predicted 4 inches , we got 10 so now they say a lot so don't know what to expect.... but we are stocked up so it's all good I guess...

We are taking Carrie off to doc today- hoping and praying it all goes well... she deserves a break from all this ... I am going with them this time- Joe is anxious about her getting thru it this time around and not knowing what to do for her so oldest dd will come stay with boys ...

I got my crockpot going this morning with Burbon Chicken- don't know they call it that , no burbon in it.. Carrie found it and made it last week- boys loved it so I am giving it a try too... have leftover rice to serve it over , after I shred it...

Well off to finish getting ready to go... need to do something to my hair.... Have a good day all!

yes, I think that is the main culprit as well. That an everyone being cooped up together.."sharing".

Well, here is an interesting tid-bit;

There is a dinner tonight at the home where my MIL lives.
Rod had decided he was not going...so, I called & RSVP'd for just me...as I was of the notion that she should have "some" semblance of family there...many others would have.

So fast forward to this bad weather...Rod asked me at lunch today, via a text, what I was going to do tonight. I said well, I guess I will call & cancel as the dinner begins at 6:15 pm and I do not want to drive home on bad rods in the dark...esp. what with the small car we have now.

So, guess what ??? Suddenly Rod can stay awake long enough to take me...mind you he could not go as he did not want to be awake that long, after all he would be beat when he came home from work...so, now he will take me but not go in & eat with HIS mom...SMH at this one....

Yes it was odd..but then more to the point of my husband, when he got home he said the roads are clear you can go yourself...(which I think was his plan all along) See, he wants his mom taken care of & catered to, just not by him if at all possible.

The meal was fantastic !! (honestly) We had spaghetti with meat sauce, a nice salad with cheese & cucumbers, fat plump breadsticks seasoned with parsley & parmesan cheese. and several types of ice cream to choose from for dessert. To drink was water, iced tea, coffee, lemonade, hot chocolate, punch and hot tea.

when I walked in I was given a guest book to sign, a ticket to put my name on for an attendance prize drawing, and I was given a carnation. VERY classy dinner if I do say so myself.

Roads were clear, & so I will go tomorrow to take my sister her granddaughter's birthday gifts, so they are there in case it ices and we do not get to go.

That does sound like a good dinner....and glad you had a nice time Carol...

So far so good with Carrie- they removed the stent said all the stones are gone and she has another week to recover... longer if she needs it... she is taking next week for sure- both boys have testing for school so it will make it really a lot easier and give her time to actually feel better.. she did much better after today so hoping the trend continues... she had to take pain meds first and anti spasm after just in case but felt good enough to go to Sams with us after and walk around- being home was hard on her... she isn't used to being at home all the time...

Well I am going to go hit my pillows and see if I can go to sleep early- didn't sleep well last night ...

Have a good evening all!

Nana: So glad that Carrie is doing so well. I do so hope that the trend continues.......Now, you need to take care of you, so you can continue to help if & when it is needed.

I am soon off to bed...g'nite everyone. snooz

Good morning.

I am so glad you enjoyed your dinner out Junie...you are a special D-in-law.

I do hope Carrie recovers soon...between the stress, pain and time off work I hope she doesn't fall to far behind. And I pray this is all covered by health insurance.

I guess Tina is the only one here who doesn't have to deal with cabin fever although I don't mind sharing snow with her if I could. lol

And I would take it, Sunny. Not so much because I want it but because we need it for the water.
Good morning. I am up early again. It sure beats the alternative.

You know, Tina, you are right--and I try to remember that even if I did wake up at 5:30 this morning, I did after all wake up, right ??

Barb, you are so very kind, thank you so much.

I am soon off to visit my sister. I want to get out while I can...It is forecasted that beginning tonight, we are to get ice & snow & rain the next 2 days.

I am sorry you probably won't make it to your grandniece's birthday party. But glad you are getting your gift in and get a chance to see your sister.
I got my shopping done and put away. I will put some chicken in the oven in a bit.
