sorry about Canada day being messed up, Sunny. And while I al sorry for the cost of your fruit, it makes me smile that you could afford to buy some.

I wanted to ask Rod to stop at the fruit/veggie stand we passed on the way home this afternoon, but after sitting at the DMV for 1-1/2 hours for nothing I did not have the heart to ask him to stop.

I have 2 tomatoes, a banana & a few strawberries yet, so they will have to do.

Ouch, Sunny. I wish you could send rain and we could send produce.
I went out today and bought new tires.
Only 2 of them because this is a tough month finance-wise. After sitting around there for a couple of hours, I didn't want to shop for anything. Now for a nap.

Our flag is up today as well. It was up yesterday also.

I cannot go down to get my ceramic patriotic bear to put on my mantle, so I also did not put out my patriotic garden flag.

cup of coffee in hand...perhaps I will see what interesting cooking shows are on.

Happy 4th of July friends.

Today I will mow grass and weeds. Our heat wave is upon us, thanks Tina....I think lol

This is a tough month for us money wise as well, the fact that DH went without any pay for many weeks hit us hard and since the past two months I have been dipping into savings to help us through. His new job will start this week thankfully, the heavy rain held the job site back a month. It's always something isn't it?

Off to hang out a load of sheets and blankets.

Happy 4th Of July to Everyone!

Hi Bill .. good to see you coming in ! It's a warm day here but cooler than it had been so no cooler running today- loving that ! Out flag has been flying today too.... we had some people shooting off fireworks last night but at least they quit about 11... tonit will be different I think... we are having an evening at home....

I have been watching a doc special about Glen Campbell.. his last concert- sad and good at same time....

I got a lot done this morning- laundry is almost done- made a new clothespin bag... did some mending that needed getting done- have to fold the laundry yet and get it put away ... still need to run the vacuum and dust the bedrooms, and mop my kitchen floor- it is a mess , been gone to much to get stuff done... always something to do I guess...

Have a good holiday all and be safe...!

Nana

I will be going to bed in a few. But whether I sleep or not depends on neighbors who are shooting off fireworks and firearms into the night.
Sweet dreams all.

Good morning.

I'm surprised their isn't a ban on fireworks where you live Tina...those sparks are dangerous in dry conditions.

Thunderstorms for us today...thinking I'll give the floors a mopping and such.

Good morning. The fireworks are illegal here. And have been for many years. But that does not stop some people. As are firearms shot recklessly into the air illegal. But it still happens. It's over now until about new years.
I am going to the store today for a few items. Just waiting for them to open for the day.

I think personal fireworks are illegal here as well. one needs to go to commercial events put on in towns & such. BUT everyone just goes across the river into Missouri, & buys them, brings them back & sets them off. No one seems to notice them going off-- rolz

I had a bad night, but slept will finally & am up for the day.

Still no rain, but I hear it is coming....

Here people go across the border. I think that the smaller safe and sane ones weren't available in town, like they usually are, due to drought. I haven't gone to the commercial/community ones for years because of the people bringing their own into the crowds and there's always at least on child hurt badly as well as a few grownups.
I went and did my shopping that I needed. I have a bunch (16) of sweet and spicy chicken legs in the crockpot for later and some for the freezer.
I will need to go out tomorrow to a different store for what is not available at today's. And a farmer's market for fresh produce.
I still need to set up my budget for the month too. It seems as though I have my day set up for myself.

Have fun at the Market...it sounds like fun.

I cleaned everything I could get my hands on...now I sit and rest. I get tired more easily than I did before.

Cost Rod $10.80. But anyway it was nice to get out & look around.

Evening all,,

Just finished watching Yankee Doodle Dandy with James Cagney- love that movie... really like it...

We did a fend for yourself night for dinner tonit had potato soup for myself.. Joe is eating left over steak frm last night- it's a lot cooler today , stayed cloudy most of day so kept it nice... tomorrow will be the same and Mon even cooler they say...will be a nice break from the heat... Joe has been trying to find a solution for out wood pile- we need to raise it up so the rabbits can't get under it and hide... they have been carrying a disease so he wants to make the yard not so hospitable for them... went and got some cement blocks to raise up the platform he made out of wood flats we already had... hopefully that will work... we don't use the wood very much since it bothers me to much to burn wood inside but still need it in case we lose power in winter....

Well I may just head to bed early tonit too... was up late here with the people who go to Wyoming for the illegal stuff , they seem to think it's okay if they set it off after midnight... some stuff is legal here but it can't leave the ground.. they go to Wyoming and bring it back... we can sit in our front yard and watch a pretty good free show and just pray they don't set a forest fire at same time... Joe always wets down our yards and trees really well... and all rain lately helped.

Well I am going to watch Falling Skies and then hit my pillows.... have a good evening all.

Nana

I'll take your rain off your hands, Carol. I've got a dozen trees dead or dying due to drought.
Leftovers are wonderful, Nana. Or as I like to do them, it os planned overs.

Good morning, I am so sorry about your trees Tina...this drought you are in just just awful.

Nana, I do hope the cement blocks work.

Junie, you got a good deal on the fresh produce.

I managed to go picking wild strawberries again last night, I bottled another two small bottles out of it. Our tame berry patch is doing well....there should be a nice harvest to make jelly out of it.

I am out in a few to take advantage of this hot weather, I am going to 'machine clean' my chairs and sofa outside and let the sun dry them out.

OH MY, TINA !!! I am so very sorry to hear that about the trees. and of course watering is out of the question, I am assuming. egad

Sunny..Rod showed me last night---I guess we have what looks to me to be wild strawberries around the perimeter of our deck. Rod says he thinks they are wild raspberries, but either way he will not let me pick them. he says he de snot know for sure what they are & does not want me getting sick. teach Thing is I do not have a camera loaded on this computer to even TRY to show you a photo.

Waiting for the Physical Therapist to come.

Wild strawberries look like the tame...only very tiny, the leaves and such are the same.

It is hot out there...

It is funny, you are complaining of hot and we have much cooler weather today. Not cold by any stretch but a much cooler than our usual 100+ degrees in July.
I guess I didn't post this morning. I got up early and went outside to do some work. Then I came back in and crashed for a couple hours. I've been up and working on some stuff inside. It has been a good day.

Good morning.

No complain about the heat yet Tina, my garden needs it. In fact I wish we would get three dry hot days in a row so we could get some hay bales made.

We had hotdogs and sliced potatoes on the grill yesterday...simple and easy.

GG needs to go to the dentist today.

Good morning.
I know you are not truly complaining, Sunny. It is just odd to get such mild temps on my side of the country at this time of year.
It's another cool morning for me. I went out and watered a little bit. Now I am done with watering for a few days.
Today my daughters are going to take Teddy out for awhile and do something. Maybe just lunch. I don't know what I'm going to do while they are gone. Maybe nap.

it s Tuesday...sadly...
Good news is I have plenty of chores to do today to keep me busy..I began to balance the checkbook yesterday--& it is all messed up. I need to straighten it up. Then I have a few phone calls to make.
One is to our internet provider. to see if I did get the upgrade I applied for yesterday.
They offered a free upgrade in internet for resigning our 1 yr. contract with them....Mind you, they have what amounts to a monopoly on services around here, --- you have no real choice but to go with them --- but hey, more services for the same price works for me.

So, you re-upped a one year contract for another year or so?
I have no contracts. I don't like them. But I tend to get with a company and stick with them for years. And my bills have not changed for years except for various raised taxes, etc.
Breakfast is eaten and my trash is out. I'm taking a break.

yes I did--but there is no real need to, if it were not for the speed upgrade. In the past I have been sent new contracts for the upcoming year and have neglected to sign them & my service goes on just fine. I was ignoring the last contract, but they sent me a free upgrade offer so I signed it.
it really matters little. There is not many other options in the area, and if you go with another service, then you get charged per minute long distance for your internet.

(I have not had that problem but I have had friends who have had such problems with them.)
