Good afternoon. Stumbled home from picking Teddy up from school and collapsed into a nap. A short one, but oh so good. I am good until bedtime comes around.

I'm trying to figure out why the event notice is set to veterans day; it's SUPPOSED to be a Daylight Savings notice...

I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working, so I disabled it for the time being; super confused on why it wasn't working correctly, still reading it and nothing...

I fixed it, that was a fun adventure... Seems the method I was using to check the date didn't like the day number to have a 0 before it (like one would generally write in coding for a single digit); everything should be working as anticipated now (not to make a note, lol).

Good morning. I'm way too early today. But that's ok. I have the week's worth of laundry to get done and I need to do a Home Depot run today. There is plenty to do on this weekend and getting ready for the rains next week. I hope everyone has a good Halloween.

Good Morning from IL.
I too have been up way too long. (almost an hour now)

James, bless you for all of your late night work. The forums are as they should be now--YAY !!!

Last night, Rod removed the 2nd VCR, that finally died & put in the last spare that I had for me. It was a pain to learn how to program.
I swear that TPTB on the electronic stuff try to see how complicated they can make items when they come up with the next model.
Sad thing is I set the clock manually. Now we will see if I have to figure out how to set it all over again tomorrow, or if it will reset itself.
James, did the time change, change before or after 2000 ?? (that is when this last VCR of mine was manufactured.)

IF it does not rain, I am going to a craft fair today. I always miss this one, so luckily I remembered to see when it was this year. I look at it as the official start to my Christmas Shopping for the year. (mind you I have already been buying things)

I wish everyone a great day.

The mall changed their hours for Halloween this year again; 2pm-4pm this year, last year was 4pm-6pm, then the year prior and all through history it was 5p-7p. Next thing you know it'll be 10am lol.

Carol, the last time they updated DST info was after 2000; I think within the last 10 years. What I always find fun is that some states don't follow DST, not just farmers or Amish. Makes the stuff we're updating for the new version of the bulletin board software "interesting" lol.

-edit-

Thanks, James. That seems a lot of trouble for me to ask you to go thru when all I am trying to do is get out or changing the time on my VCR tomorrow....LOL (sorry) But I guess we can hope that I do not have to. It was a real challenge to do, I can tell you that....I cannot imagine the trouble I will have when I want to actually "WATCH" whatever it is that I recorded.

I did not go to the Craft fair today. I am going to try to go tomorrow. That will be hard as it closes at 3pm (I think)

Today when I went to the Grocery, ALL the check out clerks had on Halloween costumes. It was so very cute !!

I hope you all have a Happy Halloween, James.

And A Happy Halloween to everyone else as well. wavy

I wish I was still taking out small ones.

Rod even mentioned how he wished more kids were coming to the house because he knew how much I enjoyed it.
(not Halloween necessarily but seeing the kids dressed & them enjoying it.)

The kids (well the girls mainly, but yes, some boys too) that came here were very nice & thanked me & wished me to have a nice night.
I was very impressed.

One sad note was that my nephew called my cell so they could bring their costumed 9-1/2 month old little girl by to see us. Well, my phone decided to not ring so they said call back & then they were not answering their phones...so no little babies for me tonight.

I WILL say that both my daughters sent me photos of the boys as PM's on FB, so I at least got to see them in their costumes.

Happy Halloween everyone !! My mantle is now all decorated for Thanksgiving.

Luke & Micah are coming by tomorrow after church. shewinks

G'nite & sweet Dreams to you all !!!

Aww, if you guys where closer I'd have brought Trey by... An app I use for the neighborhood (nextdoor.com) a lot of people said that they wanted the trick or treaters, and it was super rainy out so not many people where going door to door, so I made sure that we visited those folks where we could.

Good morning, we lost power the day before and all our services went haywire. Yesterday between getting caught up from the day before...taking the grands out while DH was here to give out treats and other things I did not get a chance to drop in.

We had 26 kids visit this year and grandgirl had fun...too much fun in fact. At 3 a.m. this morning we were all up for hours while there was a major clean up from 'too much candy syndrome'....I am still washing bedding and everything else that seen the 'puke fest'.

I am glad everyone had a good day.

Oh ick, Sunny. I am sorry. I've never had a kid who had too much candy but I'm sure it's not pleasant for anyone involved. I hope she recovers.

yuk, Sunny. So sorry for your GG. I hope today brought her feeling better.

Thanks James for the kind words. I so appreciate it very much. AND I am glad you took Trey where you could. I am sure he will remember you doing that for a LONG time to come.

My 3 yr old grandson went trick or treating with his 1 yr old brother. When people gave him candy, he made sure to mention that the people "should give him 2 of whatever so he could share with his brother." What I want to know is will Luke even get his candy, never mind the candy people gave him for his baby brother. lol teach

Tina, the time change did a number on me as well. I am hoping I get used to it soon.

I don't like this time change. I hate it being dark at 5:00.

about my grandson, you would think so, but no, he was being honest.
The reason I know is, his Mom will not let him have much of his candy at all. He is not allowed to eat much sugar if any at all.

Otherwise I agree the boy was smart----I think he was actually feeling sorry for himself & his brother & thought since he was being taken out to trick or treat, he would get all the candy he got given. I sincerely do not think he will.

Going to bed soon..nite nite.

When I was young and not yet a parent, I used to watch what other parents did around me. Some of my hippie friends did not give their kids any sweets. I remember one 3 year old getting a lollipop for the first time. He wasn't happy. He turned around and gave his mother the dirtiest look and said something about never having something so good before. And asked her why.
I decided that sweets would be one of the options my kids would have. I always kept a bowl of M&Ms or something on my coffee table and my kids didn't have to ask. And they rarely indulged because it was common. And usually in the evenings on their own.
Sweet dreams all. I hope you had a good time with your grandson's today, Carol.

OH, I agree with you, Tina. 100%
My DD always says she is not being mean but that it is Luke's body--said he wakes in pain, if he eats sugar---well he may have-

--but when his other grandmother & I were watching him, I know for a fact that he ate a Little Debbie brownie. ALL of it.
he did not get wild like some children do on sugar. he did not stay up all night from the caffeine. and he at a LOT of meat(something else she says he will not do)
Luke's only hope is that his dad sneaks food when he is out--so I am thinking when the boys are older & will keep their mouth shut, he will make sure they get to eat treats.

and the other day Luke sneakily took a baby food packet from his brother & ate it. Now his brother was not eating it, and I am sure Luke was hungry, but still the boy was sneaky about it..and that worries me. And soon I will be 2000 miles away from him.

I agree Junie, there is nothing wrong with feeding your children healthier...it is admirable. But not allowing treats will make them 'sneak eaters'...I do hope your DD lessens the reins as they get older.

Tina, it does seem that leaving that bowl of candy out deters them from wanting treats all the time.

I have an appointment today so I will be running errands on the same trip.

Have a great day all.

Thanks for saying so Sunny. Have a good & safe trip today.

I am going to try to have a long talk with Luke about food in the next few days. I just hope he is old enough to remember it.

yes, Monday's are good. I myself have to finish getting ready for my in-laws coming to stay here tonight. They pop in & visit with Marie (his & Rod's mom). issue edicts & go on their merry way. Oh well, at least they are coming for a bit.

Another beautiful day here. Wish I had the time to go work outside.

Thanks, Tina, I do so wish that I knew what I did wrong. (If I did in fact do something wrong I mean) I will say it was better when it was very cold. Like 7 hours later.

I am headed to bed now, so sweet dreams to you all. nite nite.

Good morning...my appt was cancelled yesterday.

Today we are supposed to get freezing rain turning to snow. Just an inch or two but enough to make the roads slick. DH started back to work yesterday as well.

My chest is sore from all the coughing and such....this 'bug' will just not let up even with the use of two puffers.

Good morning. I am sorry you can't shake this cough, Sunny. And the weather is not helpful. But I am thrilled to hear your husband is back to work.
Happy Tuesday. It is a wet one here which is a blessing. I will take my kid to school if my road is not flooded. It was an interesting rain and going to be much shorter than called for originally.

Good Morning. And a happy Tuesday to you all as well.

Sorry your appt. was cancelled, Sunny. MORE sorry for the bad weather. BUT glad that your DH is back to work. From the sounds of it, not a day too soon. Glad that TPTB had some sense in that department.

It is foggy here, Tina. I would rather the rain for sure. I hope you get a bit more.

I hope to go top ceramics soon.

I wish everyone a good day. wavy

Oh goody! Ceramics. I had thought about how sorry it was that you should miss it for the in-laws visit. I am glad you didn't.
I dashed off to pick up Teddy early due to rain. In town was sunny and puffy clouds. But up here it was black clouds and sprinkling. I'm waiting for the deluge.

I got to ceramics in enough time to find out everyone was leaving early. BUT I did get to paint a bit and go to lunch with them.

Thanks for thinking of me, Tina. I appreciate it very much.

No they are not.
They got into town Monday morning, visited with Marie 2 times Monday.
Then woke up Tuesday, ate Breakfast with me, & went to see Marie & then left her in time to get lunch with my SIL's sister. Then they are on their way to Minnesota. SIL has family there.

Gee I am tired. This time change has done a number on me.

Good morning. It's cold today. I'm going to cook something to warm up the house. I just have to decide what. I also have to check out the yard damge from the rains when it gets light out.

Good morning, I hope the damage was minimal Tina.

Rest up Junie.

Yesterday I had no water, we thought the capacitor blew so we put in another...nope, no water again. The plumber is here right now....apparently the submersible pump has blown.
Just what I needed to hear. That's a bill I'd rather not see right now as DH will get a one week pay in the next 5 weeks. (They work three weeks, get a one week pay then have to work another two weeks to get a pay again.)

I am so sorry to hear that, Sunny. here we have the regulator for the gas go out on our fireplace. Rod called and is going to get a replacement part for it on Saturday. It seems to never end, ya know ???

I am sorry your DH's work pay works like that. That is going to be one rough 5 weeks. Esp. with pumps going out.

I have clothes in the dryer. next up is some paperwork.

I am so sorry, Sunny. You cannot live without water. And what a strange pay schedule.
I go out in a few minutes and get somethings done in the world. Meanwhile, I'm resting and catching up.

Good morning.

Yesterday's bill came to $682...the pump had blown. That hit my emergency funds hard.

Today will be a day of running water to clear up the turbidity and bleach treatment. Then cleaning up the mess in this house that came along with it.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning. I am looking forward to this day being over. Then it will be Friday and the weekend. I'll shop a little after I get Teddy to school.

OH MY GOODNESS, THAT is a lot of $$ and right before Christmas too. I am so sorry. Glad it is fixed now though.

Enjoy your shopping, Tina.

I am off to begin my day. I have laundry, dishes, & more bookkeeping to do.

I wish you all a good day.

Good afternoon. I got all done that I intended to this morning. And some additional outside work. So I'm good until dinner time. I think I'll nap or at least rest a little.

THey moved "The Big Bang Theory" to Thursday nights. so I watched a new one of those tonight. Then I watched half of "Grey's Anatomy"..all the while Rod kept asking me what was going on..I finally said I have no idea, I missed the first 30 minutes of this.

Then we watched "Doc Martin" on PBS. Now I am listening to it rain while I am on here talking to you.

I think we are getting the storms tonight that we were supposed to get last night. (I just saw a bit of lightening)

Poor Beowulf is afraid of storms. He just went down the hall to be by our bedroom door.

Storm is past now--which is a good thing.

I will say that Beowulf has some "Doggie medicine" to calm him if a storm gets too bad. So at least I do have that.

Sweet Dreams..it is bedtime in this house.

Well, you better have cake then.
Good morning. I see I didn't come in to say good night last night. I started feeling badly about bed time. I hope that is over now. I have plans to shop for the weekend after I get Teddy to school. I hope all have a great day.

Yes, sounds to me as if you had better have cake, too. I am thinking your DH enjoys these edicts that your Grand girl hands out.

OH MY, Tina. I do hope that you re not getting sick. I hope that you feel better as the day goes on.

I have some errands to do--then I think I might do some window shopping. You know to get me "in the shopping mood".

Good evening. I wonder if Sunny made a cake for us?
My issues were just digestive and over by the time I got ready to leave. All is well now. I did take a heavy duty nap today and I'm still trying to shake it off.

I am glad that you are feeling better. I am betting the nap helped a lot. I think I will go to sleep a bit earlier tonight. I think a good night's sleep will be a good thing.

Good afternoon!

We have been busy today. Went to a fireplace store & bought a few parts for our fireplace. Rod is currently putting it in. Then we went to a home improvement store & picked up a few items.
and oh..we stopped at a Casey's convenience store & bought coffee & donuts. I got a pumpkin spice latte.. shewinks

I made chocolate cake and an apple pie. Bring me a latte(I've never had one) and I'll be ready to share lol

I hope your fireplace was an easy fix....we have been dealing with plumbing issues all day. Pulling up the pump and adding a new one has stirred sediment and clogged every tap and pipe bend. We had EVERYTHING tore apart...and now finally back together.

Grandgirl and I are playing with Lego's now.

I've never had a latte either. I hope you are done with plumbing for a few years now, Sunny.
I've done some things around here today. Not enough but it will have to do. I didn't get to Home Depot this morning. That'll have to wait for tomorrow. Now to figure out what I want to fix for dinner.

To my notion, a Latte is basically a milky coffee. perhaps a little foamy as well. (so no low fat milk (usually)

The fireplace is NOT fixed. so we will do w/o one. Heavens forb id he ask the place that put it in to come & fix it. Better we went & spent nearly $100.00 on parts that do not work.

I am in a fit as on the way to visit my grandsons we found out that the oldest was sick so we came home. boohoo

My fireplace is gas too. But I guess its simpler than yours. Just on and off. No regulator. And the only part that messes up is, about every ten years, it gets too clogged to use or something like. I can manufacture a new piece for that. And I only use the gas portion to start a wood fire in it and then turn the gas off.

well we will hope that it was not something so simple wrong with our Fireplace as with yours. But for the time being, we will do without. He told me to call the place last week--he should have just left it at that. Makes me so angry.

I am going to sleep soon. night night. sweet dreams.

Yay, we're back! This morning the site wouldn't work at all. So I made my run to Home Depot. $250 there. But I think I have all I need. I also filled my tank. So I am good for the start of the week.
And I'm here in time to wish everyone a good afternoon.

Well our plumbing woes hit us today as well, we had to tear apart EVERYTHING in the bathroom. Things have been reconnected and soldered and recaulked....and if anything else acts up I am moving to an apartment. cry

I guess we all have our run of bad luck from time to time.

Sorry for the latest malady, Sunny. But yes we all have our turn at the bad luck it seems.
here is what I think....we buy or build these homes at one time & buy the things in them at one time--so it stands to reason that they will wear out at the same time causing huge expense-----all at one time. I hope that you are done for a good while. I guess the people that can & do replace things every so often just because they can have a point. (sadly we cannot)

Good news is Rod got the fireplace to work this morning..so we are now prepared for bad winter weather.

WOW Tina,---that is lot of cash. I do hope that you got all that you will be needing for awhile now.

Sorry about the server's AM hiccup today; not sure what happened, but the webserver crashed around 4:30a and I didn't get it back up until about 9a. Normally there are tools on the server capable of fixing such issues, but when the webserver crashes it likes to not allow them to restart it immediately; will probably need to figure out how to make it let it rest for like 5 minutes before trying to restart it...

When my computer takes a nose dive, I give it a five minutes or more to rest. I have to, so I don't do physical damage.
I am sorry you had such a bad day (or several), Sunny. I hope everything is in working order now.
I am glad you got your fireplace working now, Carol.
I'm tired and about ready for bed. Sweet dreams all.

Thanks Tina, I am happy the fireplace is on working order as well.

James, thanks for working so hard to make sure AGF is working well again.
I got lucky this morning as I did not have time to come on here, so the first I knew of it was when I read Tina say it "Had" been messed up earlier.

It is bed time & I am wide awake.. rolz

Sweet Dreams, Tina.

Yeah, I made a couple of configuration changes this afternoon too, a little longer of a timeout than what was there before; hopefully that'll make the server play nice next time.

Good morning.

Wow, the reply box is large now....I like it.

Tina, did you have repairs as well? That's a chunk of money to give Home Depot.

I am glad you have heat Junie...do you all have registers with gas? Or just fireplaces?

I know I complain at times, thanks for listening. As bad as repairs have to go...I am thankful we had the money to pay for them thumbup There were times in the past that we wouldn't have.

We are supposed to get a nice day today...I will tie up shrubs that need it to reduce snow damage and such.

Good morning. There are definite changes to the forum but it is not awful.
There are always things falling apart around the house, Sunny. And I do need some major repairs. But meanwhile I have "bandaids". And a few things I am stockpiling for later use.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I am going to do some shopping after I get Teddy to school. That's as far as I've gotten in my planning.

I am SO MAD. I was backspacing to make a correction & my whole post is GONE. and yes, I tried to go back to where it was and I ended up back in a PM I had made. why Then, I had to repost that. The post in this thread that I lost was too long to redo.

So let me say we have gas heat in the form of forced air via registers in each room to heat the house. The air is forced by blowers. They are run by electricity. So, we need the fireplace when the electricity is out. Plus it is nice to have to sit by of an evening to stay warm.

I do not do change easily, but not to worry, the forum changes will soon be usual to me. Plus I am thinking I will soon come to appreciate the advantages.

I will go to Emily's at some point today to pick up some decorations that I took there to decorate the yard for Luke with. Momma will not be doing it when they move. nono

And oh..they will not be coming here to stay until they leave this weekend. They will be living in a hotel. I am guessing that rather than live with one set of parents or the other, a hotel is neutral.

I wish you all a good day.

Development on the software pretty much *stopped* until we extended the offer to work on things; all of the competing software are miles ahead as far as how things work, so we're trying to play some pretty hefty catchup (the upgrade in January was all behind the scenes, and the one last year was just a security update; I don't think there's been a *major* update in like 5 years).

Also, if any of you check the forum from a tablet/phone, you'll notice that the software is now optimized to display correctly with your devices (cellphones in landscape primarily, but portrait still displays pretty well).

We also changed how the TimeZone thing works, you're no longer offsetting the server time, you're instead just choosing your timezone; this can be located in your Preferences under "My Stuff".

I just went & adjusted my preferences. My computer says it was 11pm.......it agrees with what the forums say, but why does the previous posts say "yesterday" when it was clearly today yet----(it is not midnight here yet.)
--I am in the central time zone--

at any rate I guess I will soon go to sleep. sweet dreams to you all.

Good morning, another nice day ahead.

I have all my shrubs and such winterized, I also took GG's trampoline apart...she will not be impressed.

I need to go into town today. I'll pick up grandgirl and take her mom back to the doctor. She went over her ankle two weeks ago, they said it was a sprain. It got worse, they sent her for x-rays(she has to fight for 3 days to get the results) and they finally say a bone is broke. Send her home with no cast then call her to tell her to buy a walking boot(about $300) and tell her the doctor will see her on the 20th. She refuses to buy the boot and wants them to cast it and send her to the doc immediately. All this commotion because they now have a nurse instead of a doctor at the local clinic.

....and that's my day lol

Good morning. Sheesh! I thought your health care was better than that, Sunny. My very best wishes for your daughter and hope she gets a fix soon.
We didn't get rain yet. Still a chance of some. But it is cold, in the 40's. Brrrr.

Sunny, yes I too thought your healthcare system was better than ours. I am so sorry to hear this about your DD. If they keep this up, she will have to have it re-broke to set it properly. gracious. To have just simply set it in the beginning would have saved her grief & "them" money. My sympathies to you all as well.

We had a beautiful day today--sun & temps in the low 60's/ Tomorrow we will have storms. Glad can stay home tomorrow.

I am glad you can stay in out of the storms too, Carl.
I visited the national cemetery today. I don't like to go when it is crowded on the holidays. But other than that, I didn't get much accomplished.

I think I will go out on Thursday to the cemetery. It is supposed to be bad tomorrow as I said.

My agenda for tomorrow is some bookwork & then the baking of some cookies for Emily to take on her trip.
and of course some laundry. There is always laundry to do. why

Going to bed soon. nite nite & sweet dreams to you all.

Good morning. It's cold here for California. I need to bake something to warm up the house. Just have to decide what. That's the hard part.
Happy Veteran's Day. How are you going to spend it?

I am up early so I can go to Carrie's and stay with the boys.. do school with Nicoli... Carrie got him caught up yesterday so today will be reviews and workbooks mostly.. Derek is still sick..he will be going to doc this afternoon...

We woke up to 6 inches of snow... wet kind...they are calling it a blizzard on weather reports... should stop later today... sure glad Joe did the yard and gutters already...

Well better go get my breakfast, going to be a long day I think...

Snow and blizzard conditions. That is too cold, Nana. It is part of the same weather we are having without the snow. I am sorry.

We watched the Remembrance Day ceremony on television....it is too cold to go to the local ones since Grandgirl is sick again.

The weather is cooler here as well but our snow is just flurries, hoping Nana doesn't decide to share grin

I'll take some of that baking gals, I am to tired to do much today.

You'll have to fight Rod for the cookies that are left, Sunny. Poor guy barely got a dozen.
I have 2 bowls full for Emily & her family, one for each car.

I have eaten Lunch & marked several things off of my list.

I am going to watch my soap opera now then get back to work.

Most of the snow melted already but its still cold tonit... more of it is still in the forcast... not going to like this winter much...

Well off to take a hot bath and get in my jammies... want to get comfy...

Both of you keep warm.....It is supposed to be nice--in the 50 or 60's tomorrow & the same for the weekend but then rain & storm Monday & Tuesday. I will hope that they are wrong for me. And I hope it warms up at least some for everyone else.
I am not a fan of winter.

Good morning, I hope the weather calmed down for you all.

I have to cancel an appt for myself today and take grandgirl to the hospital for a croup treatment. I swear I have never seen a child so sick all of the time...it is never ending.

Good morning. We have got wind here but it is warmer than most so I am not complaining.
I hope your GG gets the help she needs today and gets better, Sunny.
Carol, is Beowulf leaving with the rest of his little family? You will miss him too.
I am off to get my son off to school in a bit.

Good Morning. Coffee sure hits the spot today.
Sorry that your GG is sick again. Sorry too that you will miss your appt. BUT glad that you are able to take your GG to get treatment.

Tina, our wind here is strong also. But it is warmer here as well. I am hoping this wind is not bringing in cooler temsp, but it probably is.

Yes they will (well they are supposed to) stop by & pick up Beowulf this morning---well we were not ever told what time they will be closing on their house today, so I really have no idea when they are supposed to be dropping by to get Beowulf. Yes, I will miss him too. Poor guy..They basically ignore him, and they will not let the kids interact with him, as he has gone off on people on the past.

I hope they do right by him. A dog and kids make a good team.
I took Teddy to school and stopped to shop. Now I am taking a break before tackling the tree that came down on Jonni's car. No damage and it was only a large shrub but it needs to be cut up and moved.

Home from my errands. And before Emily got here. YAY Now for lunch..

Tina, so glad that the tree did not harm Jonni's car when it fell, and that you can remove it yourself. That will make it so much easier/quicker to remove it..
