Sheri, I make bread once a week, enough to last the week. Once a month I make a batch of pie crust also, I roll it in the pans and freeze them one on top of each other. I sometimes also make extra bread dough and make cinnamon or sticky buns at the same time as the bread. DH loves sweets so it is a constant supply and demand situation We are under a heavy wind and rain warning for the next three days...we already lost power last night.

Good morning. Sunny, I hope your power stays on now. I am surprised I didn't come in earlier today. But I woke ready to move so I got some things done while the feeling lasted. I hope everyone has a great day.

Sunny I love bread too but Johnny doesn't so if I make it I eat it ALL. Johnny used to have a customer who had a crush on him and she was always giving him homemade bread. I had a crush on her for that. She got married and there went the bread.
Tina I like getting things done first thing in the morning too. Johnny isn't a morning person. It takes him forever to get started.

The problem is, I only have energy in the mornings these days. Sweet dreams all. I'm shuffling my way bedwards.

Good afternoon. Enjoy all the coffee Tina. Sheri, how many months a year do you cut the grass where you are?...cute story about the bread. It is pouring out there, the power has flickered twice so far. We are under an extreme rain warning for the next 48 hours. Here I sit as I just mopped myself into the corner

Sunny we started cutting grass in April and it's October and still needs weekly cutting. How about you?
Shelley and the Holmes House of Havoc are heading to Disney tomorrow. Ginger and the Wild Boys are cruising to the Bahamas the week of Thanksgiving. My life is so dull.

Sheri has a good question, Sunny....
We too begin cutting grass in late April or perhaps early May...and my DH is still cutting the grass now...at some point he will just stop until next year.
I am soon going to bed..So sweet dreams to you all.

Sweet dreams, Carol. We cut grass all year long here. Sunny heats with wood whether the power is running or not. Like I do here mostly. But I haven't for the last year or so.

We just turned on the heat. It's early but even Johnny was cold. The wind is about to blow us over.
Rest up Junie. I'll bet you're exhausted.

It was 90-something today. But it is supposed to cool down over the weekend. And we are to get rain about the end of the week. The news people are very excited about it. I'm going to go to bed now. Sweet dreams all.

Good morning. Sheri, We cut grass here from end of May until the middle of September usually but we shovel snow from the first of November until the end of April. Tina is right, we have a wood stove for our main source of heat...and we can cook on it also if needed. We only put in electric heaters a few years ago as a back up if we need to go somewhere. We are under a 'travel advisory' from the rain....the roads are causing cars to hydroplane.

Hello...I have some time to myself as my DD and her DH took the kids shopping. They tried to leave the oldest home, but he was having none of it..LOL, so here I am.
We used to heat with wood back at "the farm". And I sure do miss it, a lot....I have always found it strange how the temp with wood is warmer than the same temp th gas....oh well..gas it is now....good thing I own a few sweaters.
I am going to make a few pumpkin pies this afternoon. If they do not buy some ready made crusts, I may even be making them...it has been awhile...oh well.

I finally got my shopping done today. You know, the trip I've mentioned all week? So Teddy has his bananas now. He had to live a couple of days with just applesauce, cranberry sauce and OJ for fruit. He's all set for peas and carrots too. So fruits and veggies are taken care of. It is both easy and hard to cater to someone with such a limited diet. But he is adding things once in awhile and that is good. His latest add was salsa. I got some beef bones to make bone broth with. I've had a craving.

Johnny loves bananas. Eats at least 1 every day. I used to eat them but can't seem to do it anymore. Can't even stand the smell of a banana. Salsa is a great food for Teddy to add. It's amazing he ever even tried it. Good for him.
I like a fire too. Why did everyone change to gas logs?
Pumpkin pies are my favorite. There's a recipe in Novembers Better Homes & Garden for a butter crust that looks like it will be very good.

Glad you finally got your shopping trip in, Tina. Speaking of soup, I think that after Rod's belated birthday meal, what ever he chooses, that is what I will make first.

I like them, but I prefer fruit pies...preferably fresh cherry pie or fresh blackberry pie.......however having said that, could you post the recipe for the butter crust...there is a thread for recipes just waiting.
