I've always planted my potatoes in full sun and they've done well even in a drought.

I've always planted my potatoes in full sun and they've done well even in a drought. Mine were too..well in the beginning at the farm. Then over the years the oak tree my husband planted in 1980 got big enough to offer some shade...but for most of the time and later, part of the day, the garden at the farm had full sun also. Here there will be full sun all afternoon & evening--and honestly during part of the morning as well.

Would be nice if we lived closer and could work on our raised beds together.

I spoke to my DH about that, & he suggested I use storage containers instead. I thought about it and as I would not have to bend over so far if I went with them, I will use them--that or very large flower pots. AND I have a huge pot that a tree we bought came in and THAT will have my potatoes in it. between the rains, my MIL's health, and MY last sickness, I have not planted anything yet...I am hoping to get things going by Mother's day.

I didn't get another raised bed either so I put potatoes in big flower pots and they've already sprouted. Not sure how many potatoes I'll get though because they aren't extremely deep.

I've grown potatoes in soil bags when I taught Girl Guides....just emptied 2/3 out, pokes drain holes in the bag and added soil back as they grew. Cheapest way because you don't have to buy pots and the soil was on sale for $1 a bag back then

Sunny how did the soil bags work out for you as far as production. What I've read online isn't good.
