Sorry, Sheri..I hope things get better for you.
one of my 3 tomato plants are doing well as are my blackberries...but my onions are a lost cause, as it has been too hot. One tomato plant does not have enough sun so it is leggy and one is green but just sits there. My basil, chives and sage are doing well though...

It is so strange when one thinks about gardening. You all have to fight the heat and here we have to fight the cold....I guess that's why root veggies do so well here.

The cucumbers are coming in and there are some green tomatoes out there. If we could get a little rain things would really start producing. Unfortunately there"s no rain in sight for 10 days and the temps are in the 90s. Some potatoes have volunteered. Hope they are healthy.

Surprise! We got over 1/2 inch of rain last night. It came with a lot of wind so now we have a lot of branches down but I'm thankful for the rain.

We've had some rain and I've been getting bags of cucumber, the squash have blooms - finally, and there are green tomatoes ripening - I hope. The volunteer potato plants looks healthy and the egg plants are beautiful.

A little off topic but...I have a snowball tree that was eaten down to twigs. I figured that cutting it back some and spraying it with a homemade bug killer would work....this morning I passed by it and the smell coming from it is deadly. I did a search and apparently it is infected with a Viburnum leaf beetle. Holy cr@p...the smell is eye burning, I think I am going to cut it to the ground and pull it out by the end of the day.

Apparently they live in the bark of the tree. It was straggly looking the past three years, this year it's pathetic looking. Oh well, I have a purple leaf sandcherry that should be moved this Fall...I'll put it in its place. My garden is coming along ....I only lost one pepper plant to the frost.

The sandcherry got broken from the weight of the snow, I had to cut it back....I hope it does well enough to be moved in the Fall. It is only 2 ft high. I have flowers starting on my 'tiny tim' tomatoes.

I hope it does well also..perhaps cutting it back will help it in the long run. Perhaps it will give the roots less to work on recovering..( Got that ?) I told r Rod if it rained, he didn't have to water the back yard flowers...well my tomato plant looks sick..I guess the overhang kept the rain off of that pot....

The black birds are eating my berries. I put up a little plastic owl to see if it helps...I am going to have to buy net to put over the patch.

Sunny I got some pinwheels and put in my garden and they seem to have scared away the mockingbirds. We live in a wind tunnel so if you don"t have wind they won"t work for you.
Junie I sliced the egg plant, salt, olive oil, baked 20 minutes on each side, then turned on the broiler until they were sort of crispy. Johnny liked them.
Finally have fruit on the squash.
I have viburnum and sure hope that bug doesn"t find them. Sounds awful.

The smell from those viburnum bugs is just as bad as the damage Sheri...it is disgusting. Pinwheels? I never thought of that, they sell them at the dollar store I might get some 'pea netting' there as well...I have never seen it so bad with the birds.

I'm starting to get flower buds forming on the potatoes....the sad part is that it is early for that. I hope it does not affect the potatoes growing.
