Sheri, seed potatoes are scarce here as well. I always get mine early but even then I had to search...I was lucky to find some red, they are impossible to get this year. I guess we are all feeling the effects of getting older....I have another cyst starting on my ovary. It kept me up with a dull, aching pain all night. I'll order some 'woman's meds~Midol' for pick up later today. DH is home today...we'll be putting in my new door hopefully. That is after we repair the sub floor that has been damaged from the leaking under the threshold....there's always something to repair. Our house is 25 years old and is starting to show its age.

Good morning ! Wow..I guess I am lucky that my SIL gave me some seed potatoes. He had some potatoes left from when he planted. He had kept some potatoes from his crop of last year also. And as I said, I planted few of my potatoes that were going to seed. I planted 4 of them...planting in pots remember.

I love harvesting potatoes for some weird reason. Putting my hands in the dirt and coming up with a tater just feels right. Colt is here. We planted a few more cucumbers this afternoon. It was toooo hot.

Did he manage to get into them, Sunny. I hate picking up strewn garbage. Yes, and they were all at the road for pick up at 6 am this morning. Luckily I woke up at 5:30 in time to clean the mess....others weren't so lucky. The drivers just drive on by...not that I blame them.

I have only seen 1 bear in my area since I've lived here and it didn't come close to our house. Glad they don't like us.
It is 100° here today. Colt and I walked down the driveway to the mail box and couldn't wait to get back inside. There will be no playing outside today.
I don't understand this time thing. We called Buffalo Wild Wings today because Colt loves their mac and cheese. They are open from 11 AM to 4 PM for pick up only BUT from 4 - 11 PM they're open for inside dining. And some places are open all day but close at 5 PM. To me, this is just nuts.

I think Businesses are struggling between their safety and opening up for income, Sheri. I think it will work out after a while. We had a bear here a couple years ago. I'm glad you got the satisfaction of cleaning up before pickup, Sunny. I'm sorry that your neighbors didn't. It isn't windy there, is it?

No, we had no wind Tina.
Times for businesses are really screwed up here as well. Pick up at the hardware store is from 8am-11am then it closes for two hours and reopens at 1pm to 3pm to go inside
We had our first death in our province from Covid this morning.

I'm sorry, Sunny. That's sad. I hope for no more for you. Our county has been steady at 157 deaths for the last three weeks. But our cases have gone up since masks are no longer mandatory in our county or the county next door. I expect the death count to climb (if it's counted correctly).

Good Afternoon all,
No bears here but we do have coyotes,, hubby sees them in the distance when he walks Milo.. some people go out in desert to walk their pets but he sticks to the streets, course if he crossed it would be desert in some places... Hubby takes him at 6 am and about 8 at night now that it's hitting 100* here. Our county has had 2700 cases so far and 208 deaths but they are opening up... they are making plans for schools too this fall.. tell you what if I had school age kids they would be homeschooled … glad my Grands in Colo are for sure.. especially the youngest boy Nicoli.. he is immunocompromised so no way does he go out. They were desperate for a new game for one of their systems over the weekend so Dad masked and gloved up and went to store and they texted back and forth to choose what they wanted... He stripped and showered before he got near anyone else... they live in Littleton and it's bad there still... My bil that lives close wants to have his annual 4 of July party.. he called and wanted us to come... Hubby said no way... sorry see you after we can have an inoculation and danger is over,, my Sil is diabetic ..74 yrs old and he has no business exposing her to this crap... he thinks it's all crap... guess till he actually sees someone close get it he wont' believe it...I just pray no one does... none of us are young anymore..
I spent most of the last couple days cleaning up my office and taking all my old tablecloths and making them smaller for table we use now.. left some big for when I drag out portable table but made 4 smaller to use everyday for us.. now I finally measured the window in office to make the blackout curtain for it .had it since we moved in..have plenty of time now.. then we make the pretty one shorter too.. for some reason it's about a foot and half to long, must have been the only one I could find close enough to the right size,, small town wally world - gotta take what you can get here. LOL!
Well off to go make dog bags for hubby to take on their walks.. to clean up after Milo... I try to keep them done up ahead so he has plenty... nothing but time now to get stuff done, not that I can't get lost in a book fairly easy..... LOL!
Stay well all...… Nana

My county has 2.18 million people. Is next door to Los Angeles County with 10.04 million people. LA has 43,952 cases and 2,942 deaths. I think we're doing pretty well given our challenges. But any county that spikes now is just a second spike in the first wave of this pandemic. We're all still in it. The wave will not be over until it comes near a standstill. Then in fall, alter kids go back to school we will see a second wave. How we react to that as country will tell how bad it gets.

You are rght, Tina. I wanted to buy the kids face masks..found some to use with filters. DD says not to bother that she thinks no kids will have to wear masks when school starts. My 3 born-premature granddaughters are going to pre-school this year..I told my DD that I would happily keep them home instead.. But they are going.,I am so afraid for them...I so wish a treatment or a vaccination would be found. They take breathing treatments when they even get a simple cold....

The sun is shining, the mosquitoes are swarming....it must be spring here GG's allergies are bothering her....the pollen in the air is heavy. Her eyes were swollen and bloodshot so it is time to start the Reactine meds for a few days. You can see the yellow dandelion pollen on the windows. Attempting to finish up the door repair today. DH is quite the helper, he even put in the door knob wrong

Good morning ! spring is a good thing..mosquitoes and allergies are not. Our allergies are much worse here than they were in I!linois.. Rod takes something OTC..I used to take Sudafed when I had issues at home...but since my HA..I get to take nothing, because I steer clear of antihistamines. Rod had to wash his truck the pollen was so thick on it. Sorry about the door problems. Hopefully you will be done soon and have it in correctly.

I'm not sure of that. My older son had dreadful asthma when we lived back east. I had him tested as almost two years old. He was not allergic to food stuffs. Just everything wirh fir or feathers and anything green growing. He had a couple of allergy shots before we moved. And after we got back to California it was all magically gone. Just mild seasonal stuff. And Dimetapp worked for that. And the nasty ear infections that came with them.

Ah I hear you on that. My youngest had Dimatapp as a prescription when she was very young. Her Dr. Finally gave her an open ended RX. she needed it so much. But then it became OTC soon after that. Thing is even though the Dr. assured me the 2 were the same strength, to me, the prescription worked better but we had to use the OTC. Same thing happened with Zantec. Grass is already growing back under my blackberries. DH wants me to wait to get my mulch until we have to go to Lowes for other things. Looks like I will be " trimming " grass again.

Can you use weed cloth under your berries, Carol? I put weed cloth in places where I don't want weeds to grow and then mulch over that. If I want to add plants, I just move the mulch over nd cut an X in the weed cloth and plant then smooth back the mulch. Sweet dreams all.

Yes, I have used newspaper back in IL. I was thinking about it when I was having trouble finding it online...we get very little newspaper here. At home I could count on sale bill paper, and a Local news paper...here nothing like either.
Good morning!

I have used cardboard under my shade cloth too. I've been up a few hours. Contemplating taking a nap. But will have to feed some lunch soon so 'll wait.

Keep cardboard wet. It won't do much good it water doesn't get to plant roots. For that I use a watering system under the cardboard with drips for each wanted plant.

Junie not sure what size area you're talking about but I've read that boiling water will kill grass and weeds. I've never tried it but have read it a lot of places.

Sheri..my blackberries cover between 16 and 20 feet of my fence...I was going out to measure but it is in the 90's out, and lazy me does not want to go out. The above is my best guess of the area. I think I will just buy some landscaping paper next week when we go to get the other items we need but I appreciate the information.
