Good afternoon. We will take down the outside nativity when we take down the inside tree. (Jan 6 or 7). I hope the weather here cooperates with that plan.
Good idea to do yours before the storm hits, Sunny.

You are out of luck girls, it was bread, rolls, brown sugar pie and chocolate chip cookies.
I have to go get groceries tomorrow and I just found out that there is no more curb side pick ups at both grocery stores anymore. We are being forced to go in and shop personally. I'd have to drive over an hour each way to get curbside now.

Sunny, the curbside at some restaurants has gone away here too. I can't figure it out. We've had curbside grocery stores for a few years so I don't think that's gonna change but I can't understand the restaurants that don't have a drive through window doing away with curbside.
I'm always amazed at how much you bake.

Well Tina,.I did not get a delivery either. Sometimes life is no fun, huh ???

Both Tangela and her dad are better today. Just a wee bit better. But that is much better than worse so I'll take it. They got tested today and the results should be here in 3-5 days. But covid positive will be no surprise. I am positive they have it. Not sure why I didn't post this morning though. I am going to wear N95 masks when I go out from now on. It is what is recommended for the Covid strain coming out of the UK. So...

It is not known to be worse than the previous covid in death rates or how ill it makes people. But it is supposed to be about 70% more communicable. I think it's being called E-117, so far. The covid out of South Africa may be the same or a different variation. They think the vaccine will also work for these variants. The E-117 was found in several states now including mine. I am going to bed soon. Sweet dreams all.

And it is called B.1.1.7. I had the number right but not the letter. Yes, it is more prevalent than previously thought. But they figure the vaccine will still be advantageous. Corona viruses have been around awhile. And corona caused colds have made the rounds. They were already working on vaccines way before the variant cov-sars-2 popped up. That's primarily why we have the vaccines so quickly. They were already working on the virus type for years. All they needed was the DNA sequence and they were off and running. I believe in these vaccines more than any others since Salk's polio. And a couple from Turkey needs next year's Nobel prize in medicine. They were the beginning of the whole way of altering the DNA for making vaccines. When they immigrated to Germany they began gaining notice with their work. And people turned to their work after covid started gaining ground and they stepped up. They basically had the vaccine on paper last January and it only needed put together in real life. There are scientist working on things all the time. And I bless them. There is so much being uncovered by climate change and not all of it is beneficial to human life.

I am so glad that I got to go stock up on Monday before the lockdown. I am wondering if we will get our 'curbside pickup' at the grocery stores again....hopefully. I went into the local grocery because I had to, the store was nearly bare. Between what is not available anymore and what is only being delivered sparingly....it was shocking.
The sad part is seeing overripe and bad produce being thrown out because no one can afford to buy it, it makes no sense to me. It makes me so mad and frustrated. I'd love to have that $7 lettuce but it is out of my budget....yet, it gets thrown in the dumpster.

That bothers me, too, Sunny. Does Canada have food lines for the unemployed? It's sad to see people waiting for hours to get a few days of food.

Tina, there is a food bank for lower income families. They can go once a month for about $75 worth of food, staples like bread, peanut butter/jam, crackers, pasta, pasta sauces, etc... There is no fresh fruit, veggies, meat or dairy though. In the bigger cities, they can go once a week for lesser amounts and they can get meat and fresh items there. We got more freezing rain last night, what a strange Winter. I'd love fresh greens right now. Mind you, I am thankful for my bag of apples and bananas this week....many are not so lucky.

Thank you for answering me. Sunny. What I actually meant was if your food banks, etc., are over run with those in need right now? Is unemployment affecting things poorly in your country?

It is nice to be able to get fresh produce and the last few weeks there were mountain apples. The apples may be gone by now but I can't tell the difference in store bought and mountain grown apples anyway.
Our church has a food bank.

There is a food bank in the town next to us. We donate money to them often. It seems they would rather have money so they can buy what is lacking in their stores.i

Thank you for answering me. Sunny. What I actually meant was if your food banks, etc., are over run with those in need right now? Is unemployment affecting things poorly in your country? The food banks are doing o.k. from what the news is stating, and in all honesty we hear no different on the unemployment issue. Income assistance and the Covid Unemployment Benefit for the unemployed pays more than when people are working for most. My daughter makes less money working than if not....and she loses her health benefits for not being on 'Welfare'. It is a strange system that we have. Bestofour, we donate to the church as well, they make sure that what is donated goes to those really in need....not the scammers. Our food bank system is the worst run of any organization around. Any word on Tangela and her dad?
