I am also praying for little Emmy Lou . Triss I have contacted my Granddaughter who has two of the pups she said hers did not have worms or anything wrong. I grilled her pretty good and told her how important it was to make sure. She will contact her friend that got the other one and see how hers is . Her friend is a vet tech at a Vet's office in Plano. Still waiting to hear back.

DIane, I only just read these posts about her being so sick!!! I'm so sorry!!! I'm praying for her too. I can't believe this happened just since I was looking and those darling, playful pictures of her!!! It seems so sudden! I certainly hope the vet gets her taken care of in a hurry.
I am also praying for little Emmy Lou . Triss I have contacted my Granddaughter who has two of the pups she said hers did not have worms or anything wrong
according to MY vet He said worms are passed to the puppies as they pass thru the uterus at birth and again in nursing, and expelled then puppies walk and play thru other expellsions and the parasites can enter thru the skin , paw pads, toys, drinking out of shared water/food bowl, laying in same area where other animals lay ..., etc. How only one of four get the worms is a medical mystery,, I asked the Vet today IF it is possible only one would get the worms and he said 99% sure worms will show up in stool eventually in ALL of them because they had not been wormed at 2,4,6,8 weeks of age or possibly not current to date. When puppys have a big round tight Belly and dull coats the possibliity of it having worms is 100% when the pup is under 3 months old. FRom what I saw all of the pups had big round tight Bellies and I had even mentioned How big the bellies were . Emmy was dehydrated and enemic from loss of blood in stool, and vomiting She is off the drip for parvo but still on drip for glucose. Today The Dr, administerd Further treatments with an eyedrop and she has eaten 2 teaspoons of a soft special meal diet but refuses any other food today so far,, Tomarrow they will see if she will drink on her own~ today she refuses. The Dr said Fortunately she is not in shock<-- Which is a sure sign of certain death from parvo. I'm sooo glad I was able to get off work and get home early enough in the day yesterday to get her to a vet!

Treatment for parvo has come far! My friend has a yellow lab who had parvo as a pup. He's ....uh...counting.... I need more fingers.... about 13 or 14 years old now! There is hope!! I am anxious for you Diane and Emmy Lou! Keep positive!! Thing will get better!!
and jimmy, getting allie spayed is the right thing. the pups are beautiful, and i'm positive have good homes, but you know, if there were enough good homes to go around... i love my dogs, but i make spaying or neutering the first thing i do 99% of the time i get an animal. it is just too important.
thank you jimmy for being such a great critter keeper
and thank you diane for keeping us posted on emmy AND posting the things that we all need to know as dog owners... may i never have another puppy, but if i do, you've given me good info
She sent Emmy an new toy to play with!!! I have it sitting on top of Emmy's crate for her home coming Sunday Possible Saturday IF Emmy eats at least 1/4 cup of food twice on Friday then she'll come home saturday otherwise it will be Sunday, Today she ate 1/4 cup for the day so she is eating more everyday, They even let her out of her medical crate to get some exercise the Tech said she even ran!!! .. That is such WONDERFUL news to come home to tonight, Diane!!! I'm so glad that Emmy is eating, and even ran a bit - hooooray!!!
You just have to know that all her Aunties and Skunkles here are so very excited, and keeping everything crossed that she will be home, thrilled to bits to be there, this weekend!
Can't wait to see more pics of that adorable little fur ball!
[color:#3333FF]That is such a cute toy from sweet Auntie Wrennie - way to go, Wrennie!
Diane, what a cute puppy Emmy is!!! I am so glad she is doing better. Seeing your furbabies get sick is heart~wrenching and I am glad her guardian angel was watching over her!
jimmy that's great that allie did the spaying well. you might want to go ahead and check on low cost neutering for the male dogs, just incase you find another female on your doorstep!
I'm expecting a call from the Vet tech today around 3pm,, I went to see Emmy this morning and she had just finishing eating and was very playful. She was barking too~ this was the first time I had heard her bark!! Kinda like the first time you heard your child say their first word then they never be quiet once they figure out it means communicating! They are going to give her a bath and one more feeding then a call about 3 soo Until then I will get her crate a good disinfecting and get her Auntie Wreenies toy front and center to greet her!!..

Yes Rita she is still trying to bite my toes IT tickles But I make her stop so she doesn't think it's okay ~ I wouldn't want her thinking it's okay to chase toes of company if they have sandles on ~~ Might not be a good thing Huh??
