 More raking for me today. I have a few daffodils by the South corner of my house that should be full bloomed by tomorrow. They always bloom weeks before any other.

I did have a good day. The garden nursery was open at the hardware store(for just trees and shrubs)....so I just had to look around for awhile. By the time we left to come home....it was snowing there.

Carol was out of power from around 10:30 last night until today around 2 pm. Then we took our Grandson to his dentist appt.

Well, I got one full coat of paint on the ceilings. I had the ceiling painted a cream color so it might take 3 coats to get it back to white....lesson learned.

Yea, lesson learned. You should have painted it cream. LOL I would have if they would have had matching paint. Well, the third coat just got finished. I just have to caulk some trim.....and clean up the mess of a whirlwind in here. I wonder how Bestofour is coming along with her painting??

I hope your DH's illness is short lived....it might be harder on you than him. I dread the 'getting to the cashier' part of shopping. I used to hate the long lines, now I hate the receipt.

Yep for sure on the amount we spend. Yesterday, I needed some meat, and I had to replace some items I had to throw out when we lost power. I spent far too much money, that is for sure. (DH just found out what I spent at the grocery  ) Good morning.

Well, I was lucky there. The only meat I had to throw out was some bacon. In the freezer in the house, items were still crunchy and so I knew my chest freezer was good as well. But I pretty much had to get rid of creamy condiments, dressings, cheeses, and cooked foods that were in my fridge. But hey, at least I got my fridge emptied and cleaned out. As my MIL used to say, I got another job done.

Oh, yes...mayo and dressings are definitely on the throw out list. I weeded around and dug a new circle around my lilac trees, then mulched around them. I ended up cutting off new little branches last year with the weed wacker.

My back is hurting. Too much bending over.

I remember when he was just a little guy. They DO grow up far too fast. If it helps, my oldest Grand will be 11 this fall, then They stair step down to the youngest who will be 5 this fall. The triplets were just 7. I swear they were just born. Point is, life goes on. Perhaps if you put a brick on his head, and lock him in your closet ????

GB helped me all day today. We changed the old clothesline poles with new ones(just cedar poles we cut and peeled). Changed the oil in the lawn mowers and levelled out some parts of the lawn....I think I played him out.

He was proud as can be driving the lawn tractor(without the mowing deck)....DH was sharpening the blades for me. I let him drive it around while it was 'safe'.

Two days of rain and it's still raining and about 53°. I've got tomatoes, cucumbers, and dill out. Hope they make it. Still have okra seeds and basil to put out. Won't be dry enough for a few days if it ever stops raining.

Well rain is a good thing..and we should not complain..by July we will all be praying for rain. If it were me I would have a barrel or some other container to keep as much as possible. I now have to fill gallon jugs. My DH ordered me a rain barrel but it never came. So I do what I can. I will hope that your veggies make it.

Bestofour, it is feast or famine with rain. We have been doing well with the rain but the lower half of our province is scorching and battling wild fires. I hope your plants do o.k. I planted over 100 ft of potatoes yesterday.

I still have to pick up a few annuals if I can find some at a decent price. Well it might be better if you begin deciding just what amount you are willing to spend. That might go easier for you. I need one more annual..if I can find d a low growing one, and as you say, at a good price.

I only spend $20 on annuals each year...so that does not give me very much. The annuals at my local grocery store are $3 for a cell pack of 6 small plants or $3 for a single calibrachoa, geranium or wave petunia. I'll go today as I have to pick up a prescription for DH. Last year I put a tomato plant and pepper plants in some of my flower pots. They looked pretty as they grew. We are having a heat wave here for two days...then a week of rain is to follow. I am covered in bug bites.

That is a wonderful price for plants. I was lucky to have some gift card money that I used this year on flowers. I do need a few more though. I also plant in pots sometimes. This year it is herbs and flowers.

I just got back Junie, the annuals were on sale 4 for $10 no matter what you got but there wasn't too much left. I did get 6 single calibrachoa and 2 cell packs of dianthus. All the petunias, gazanias, zinnias and such were all gone.

Well I am glad you at least got something. There is a flower sale in Saturday I am hoping I can get Val to go there to see if I can find some more coneflowers.

My large ones are just various shades of pink...one starts off with green undertones but immediately turns pink as well. My smaller ones are an orange color, although they were supposed to be mixed. Mind you, I'm the only one who can buy a pink lupine that is white then buy a red that is yellow.

Just got back from a 'live chicken run', then picked up GG's friend for a day visit. She has not been here before, she is such a sweet girl....and responsible for her age. I guess that is from having younger siblings to look after and both parents working.

Yes about the friend. The first time my Calorie went to visit at her friends house, the girls mom was so impress that she said Valarie was welcome at her home anytime. Foster that friendship. Valarie and her friend are still good friends.
The coneflower that I bought yesterday, may be pink, it may not be. The lady I bought from was not sure. Mind you, I would really rather have another color, but it will be what it will be.

Yes, the young friend is a keeper in my eyes. She even gave GG a lecture here about being rude to me. Cheyenne spirit coneflowers can be red, orange. purple, yellow and white...I have one that bloomed last year and it was orange, the others were too small to bloom but I shall see what they are this year.

On most days I would take you up on your offer, Sunny, but wheat is just about ready for harvest here and rain would ruin it. I hope some of the people are able to get some in today, as there is an 80%chance of rain with storms tomorrow.

We could use a little rain here. Not 4 inches at one time please.
I got stung by hornets yesterday. I had never even seen a hornet and hope never to again. They are gigantic and the venom is horrible. My hand and arm are hugely swollen and the pain is almost unbearable. I was supposed to head to GA today but I can't make a fist because my fingers are fat so I don't think I should drive that far plus I feel terrible. I must have a fever from it because I've started having chills. I thought everything in the world had a purpose. So what is the purpose of a hornet???

We got our rain yesterday in increments. 1 & 2/10 inches. Overcast and cool today.
