Those are the toughest perennials ever, they are smaller than the original bleeding hearts. They get a foot high, spread underground and bloom before the daffodils and until the Fall frost. I have white ones as well.

We are supposed to get a few dry days, my lawn needs to be cut....badly. I'll probably have to wait until tomorrow though so it can at least partially dry today.

2 inches of rain this week and it's only Wednesday and it's still raining. Thanks Junie for checking on dodge. Good to know she's ok. Sonny, my garden is coming along very slowly. Had a hard time getting seeds to germinate.

NC had the coolest first day of summer we've had in 100 years. Today I got my first squash. Usually by this time things are almost finished because of heat. But we all know the heat will get here soon,

I did have fun. And as this is a tournament, we will go back this afternoon...in all the heat. We have been eating lettuce and green onions. I hope yo sff potatoes to that list soon. XD

Well, Sheri...I love that they love it. And I love to see how much they improve thru the year. Having said that, I am not a big fan of sitting out in the heat in the sun.

Not a fan of sitting in the sun at ALL. I don't even like being on the beach unless I'm in the water or under a tent.
How old is he? This may be the start of a lifetime of ball games for you. Both my girls were on the ball field all the time and so are my grand children. I figure it keeps them out of trouble. Then Ginger got ALL her college paid for by an athletic scholarship and Darbi got a partial softball scholarship - so there's that opportunity too. And both of them were able to parlay the sport into paying jobs. So put on sunscreen and take an umbrella and cheer them on.

Baseball was so much fun as a kid and teen, they don't have anything like that here anymore. They used to have T-ball many moons ago for the younger ones.
Not sure what today holds but there is plenty to do before the rains start again tomorrow.

Good morning. I wish you could share some of that rain with us, Sunny. We were supposed to get rain yesterday but that storm went well south of us instead. Now we will be dry (& hot) for several days.

No my grands go to a Catholic school. The kids who go there all join other local teams. My grands and the family behind our house both joined a local town's team. I have no idea if it is a school team or a town team.
The last blooming fine was 2022 so I think we were due for a new one. Thanks !

I was here but we lost power with thunderstorms and our cable/internet did not come back until late last night. More storms for today.
Our school only has basketball as a sport, we are down to over 80 students....when I went there there was 500.

Well, Happy Canada day ! Storms are headed this way as well With large hail. If it does come like they say, I have to wonder if I will have any flowers or plants at the end. Speaking of plants, my rabbits (yes I have wild rabbits) thought they might like to eat my zinnias and then they also tried eating my Bee Balm. It is a good thing they are so cute.

Stay safe. I have not seen wild rabbits here in so many years, I did have to 'deal with' a snake the other day though. I hope the rabbits do not visit your veggie garden area. More rain for today. If and when it ever stops....everyone will be out on their lawn mowers.

They already have been. They are off parts of 2 tomato plants and completely destroyed my one volunteer tomato plant. But the tomatoes are too big now for them to bother with.
We have 50% chance of rain and storms today. I bet it does not happen. If it does not, I will be watering and picking blackberries tonight.

The rain is rotting my strawberries. I have never seen blackberry plants for sale here. The plants will live, it is the berries themselves from getting too much rain. It is ridiculous....an hour from me they have had landslides from the rain, what a mess. I am going out this afternoon in DH's raincoat and weeding whether I look foolish or not.

Bestofour, people are not having children. The families were groups of 3 to 5 when I was a child, now most have one, or none. We went a whole night without rain, I plan to head out to cut some of the lawn before it starts again at lunch. The humidity has everyones hair in curls here.

Yup, I had made cold salads the day before so we ate leftovers yesterday. It is supposed to be the same temps for today but with thunderstorms...what a strange Summer. I picked a gallon of strawberries from my garden, time to make a batch of strawberry pectin jam.

Colt and I went to Nashville, TN for the 4th of July. We had such fun. Now he's gone home and I have a sad face .
So very hot here. I'm glad I can stay inside out of the heat.

Well We got some....my rain gauge says we got a tenth of an Inch, however I had a gallon & a half of rain water I my 7 gallon yard tote. So whatever. I will take what I can get. Thanks for helping.

You should set up a tote to catch your water from your eavestroughs. I know those fancy water barrels are expensive but any tote would do if you put it under. I just gave the fridge a good cleaning. "Somebody" spilled something yesterday in it at Grandboy's b-day....and never let me know. Jeepers, a quick one minute wipe would save over an hour of taking it all out. My red potatoes are setting blooms.

So glad for your blooming potatoes. I hope you get alot ! Sorry about the " mess in the fridge. Don't you just hate it when strangers break into your house and make messes? LOL Rod one time ordered me a rain barrel, but it never showed up. Good news is he got his money back.. And once I even got close to 8 gallons of rain water from a clogged gutter. If I think of it soon enough I put other buckets out to catch water.

It was in the 80's today here. The weather guy said there will be another nice day tomorrow, but then the heat will come back. It is said to be bringing rain and storms with it....

We are supposed to have heavy East winds with no rain until supper time, I will be outside all day mowing and weeding. Everyone's yards look terrible...no one can keep up. They were talking on the news how it is impossible to find a dehumidifier anywhere in stores....last year it was air conditioners.
There was supposed to be a local fair this weekend, I hope we can be spared one dry day...I really want to go.

Sad part is that in a week, it will look the same.  The Western part of Canada is in a drought, the Eastern part is water logged.

Yes, that is the thing about grass, it always grows back (sorry) Water wise it is that way in the U.S. as well. SMH Well so much for many days of rain here. Night before last we got 2/10 of rain over night and that is all since. The rain keeps going around us. I guess spaghetti is on the menu for tonight.

Mmm I love spaghetti. I need to make a batch of sauce...if I can get a cooler day. My little air conditioner has a hard time to keep up but it is better than none. I need to make a trip for milk and fruit/veggies later....and ice-cream.

Well share you did. Almost 4 inches so far in the last 24 hours. We have a funeral 3+ hours away tomorrow. I hope the hail & storms do not follow us. We got lucky No day. The hail we drove thru ( some reported to be 1.75 inches in size), did not leave any dents that we could see. I really do not want to push my luck.
About the rain, I bottled up about 8 gallons of rain water yesterday. And I watered all my potted plants that are under roofs. So now I have nowhere to go with all the rain that is coming down.
I have to take the car out today as I have a Drs. appt. I hope all we get is rain.

Hail is awful. I still have holes in my siding from a bad storm, I patched them but one can still see them. I remember the old truck we had at the time we got the golf ball sized hail, it had more dents than a golf ball itself. I wish you safe travels tomorrow. I managed to get the 'ride on mowing' done this evening, push mowing and weed wacking tomorrow if the weather cooperates. I have never seen my grass so thick as it is now.

It seems we never get what we need when it comes to the weather, Bestofour. I am only starting to get tomato flowers at the moment, in fact my beans and such are only starting to set flowers this week as well. How do you cook your okra? I never see it in the stores around here but it does look good.

My Aunt made the best Fried okra. Flour and cornmeal as a breading, but it was yummy not slimy. When I made it it was slimy.

Sorry for the sunny days...but then your garden will be happy for them.
I think this is the last "not scorching" day of the week. "Only" on the 80's..and lower humidity.
The humidity and the temps will be back to rising beginning tomorrow. “They" say this triple digit weather could likely begin to be the norm in the summers.

I don't mind the sunny days...I just don't like the equipment repair. There is always something that needs to be replaced meaning extra money spent and travelling around to even find the part. Today was a sunny day meaning that tomorrow I have to go look for a replacement spring and chain links.

Finally getting tomatoes and boy are they delicious. I fry okra in a little oil. I don't roll it in anything. Just plain and it's delicious. I grow it and it is sold at the farmers market here but in the stores it's frozen - which fries up very good.

I got the lawn dealt with yesterday, today is weeding...if I can get out between showers. I look like I have chicken pox from all the fly bites.
