We have lots of poisonous snakes here but they're protected so we're not supposed to kill them. Hmmm.

4 days of rain here upon us, doesn't Mother Nature know I have chores outside?

Such a beautiful day today. Not hot not cold just right and still getting okra out of the garden. Sunny, I need to do yard work too but I haven't felt 100% so I'm going to wait until next week. I did decorate my house up for fall today though. Not that anyone ever comes to visit but it was fun.

Yex, I understand the no-one ever comes to visit thing, sa.e here...but I figure I decided irate for just me

I put up a few Fall decorations as well, I have to put up the Halloween ones outside this week. The kids bought me the cutest little ceramic blue pumpkin last week. GG remembered me looking for a blue pumpkin one year for outdoors(which I finally found at Walmart). So she got me one for indoors. A blue pumpkin outdoors here means that anyone can trick or treat at your house....a safe place for an elderly person with disabilities to trick or treat at your house with no judgement...and that you have peanut free treats available.

GG has her first real volunteer job today. She is working with a few girls from her class as servers and clean up crew at the yearly 'thank you supper' for all the local volunteer firefighters. She is so excited to go.

One of the things an aqua pumpkin means here is to bring awareness to autism... But I have read these pumpkins mean many of the things your do.

A volunteer job...wow, isn't she sure growing up fast ??

I am glad that the pumpkin means something elsewhere as well.

GG worked from 4:30 to 9:30, then went to her friends house for a sleepover. I only allow her at this one girls home to spend the night.

Another rainy day....may as well get some baking done.

I can imagine it is a different world now days when it comes to what you will let your kids do. There is like 2 families that my DD will allow her son to stay overnight with. And one of the girls got invited to a sleepover last weekend....I overheard her brother ask her if she was going...she said no...so mom didn't let her.

More cleaning here today.

I know, some parents let their kids sleep anywhere. I was only allowed to sleep at a few houses as a teen, even then we were doing things we weren't supposed to. It is scary to think about these days.

Not sure if I will go pay the bills today or tomorrow....it will all depend on the weather. If the rain clears, I am staying home to tackle more chores.

See I would be just the opposite. I would stay home if it were raining.

My sister, my cousin and I went shopping today !
I got a pair of shoes, so yay !!!

So windy here today that it felt cold outside. I managed to move one plant to a new pot but that's all I did. The azaleas have some type of bug on them so I'm going to have to figure out what to spray that won't kill the bees.

Let me know what you find out.

I hope your azaleas can be saved Bestofour, they do not grow well here...they are beautiful though.

I want to but it may not happen. My sister needs some down time, so we may not go more. II will try though.

I got an azalea bush from my cousin when my mom passed. We were not thinking and we planted it where it does not get much sun. So while it is alive and well, it has not bloomed

Junie how long have you had the azalea? Here we plant them around trees so they get lots of shade but I think our summer is longer than yours. It's one shrub that you'll find in every yard because they grow like weeds and will reroot themselves if a person isn't careful.

My mom passed in late April of 2022. I planted it between the end of April and the first part of May. It was blooming (probably forced) when I planted it...and it did not bloom this spring. I assumed it was because of the shade.

Junie, your soil might not be acidic enough. You can add a cup of vinegar to a gallon of water and water the base....that is what we do with blueberries here to get more blooms.

Another nice day here today, I am loving it....while it lasts.

I did a bit of clean up last night on the perennials, there is still plenty to do but it feels good to get a start on it. If I wait until spring then the mice try nest into everything over the Winter.

While it is good to get a start on that stuff, if the mice nested in the dead perennials would they not try to get in the house ?

Having said that, I may have some of that to do myself next week.

Junie do you have trees that drop leaves because they do great around oak trees. I've got azaleas in an area I worked on today. I've been trying to kill them off for 2 years because I can't get the roots pulled up but they just won't go away. I think they're pretty when they bloom but not so pretty otherwise. I want to put something else where they've been for the last 15 years.

I have no idea what type of tree it is
.. I have tried to find out what type it is..but I cannot ! But I know it is not an oak.

Good morning ! Another beautiful fall day here. I guess we are just going to go straight from a nice fall to winter...oh well I like fall, so that works for me.

It is raining today. It makes for a good day to get some baking done...got to look at the positive.

Oh, and they just announced that our province has the highest number of Covid cases in the Country again.

Speaking of Covid, we are going to try to get our vaccinations today...then there are groceries to buy.

I am not getting another vaccination until I can get something besides Moderna, it made me sick 3 times too many.

Grocery shopping is so discouraging. I stocked up yesterday on Christmas baking supplies though, they'll double in price by next month.

All sorts of viruses show their ugly heads this time of year. One bad thing about the fall.

75° and sunny out there today and I'm loving it.

Do we think the housing market is going to level off EVER? I'd like to move but I don't want a house that costs a million dollars. Ginger lived on St. Simons Island, GA when Colt was small but not a baby. When they moved there he was already walking and talking and now he's 12. They bought that house for $400,000.00 and in that little amount of time sometime last year the same house in the same neighborhood sold for over a million dollars. I told them not to move

Houses here have risen crazily as well, mind you where I live a bungalow would have cost about $50,000 a few years ago. Now they are $150,000. It is a good sellers market but certainly not a buyers one.

Good luck there...I should begin seeing what is left of my cleaning before Friday. I will be baking that day.

I cannot find out when the trick or treaters are scheduled to come, so that is not good.
I have mailed off the Grands their cards and I have candy bought, so that is done.

The kids go around here from noon until 8 pm. Most only arrive once school is out for the day, I like it better when it falls on the weekend.

Oh how wonderful it would be to know what was going on in my town. I am very happy for you, Sunny.
