Sorry for the ice, we just got over a week of it...what a mess.

It's calling for a week of flurries, at this point it is better than all the freezing rain.

Rain today but in the 40's. I'm going to Ginger's for a week on Saturday. She and Chris are going somewhere AGAIN so I'll be staying with Colt.

Well hey Sheri, I am glad for Ginger..and you and Colt will have fun anyway, right ?

The 40's......yay for you. I wish it would get that warm here. I doubt if that happens here anytime soon. I am just hoping that the roads improve enough by Thursday so Rod can get to his appointment. I am hoping by Wednesday, the temps will be above freezing.

Have fun with Colt, does your daughter travel a lot?

It is snowing and windy, I won't complain though...we need the snow to insulate our ground before the deep freeze sets in.

My daughter travels all the time. They're all 3 going to New York in 2 weeks. BUT I got a flight alert due to the storm coming this way so I've cancelled by flight. It takes me almost an hour to get to the airport and we may have freezing rain Saturday when I'm supposed to drive there and in MS they may have freezing rain too so it might be treacherous for her to have to pick me up from the airport there. Just better to wait. I'm not sad about it. Better safe than sorry and I sure don't want to be waiting around the airport for hours and hours due to cancelled flights. I'm glad for a little cold weather. I think it kills off some bug larvae - maybe not but I like to believe it.

Glad you will be safe, Sheri.

I hear the whole state of Missouri has canceled schools. I know the area here has no school tomorrow.

We've gotten a little snow which is a big, exciting deal for us, but I think it's sleet right now because my back steps look like they're covered in a sheet of ice. I'm staying put. I've been doing a lot of reading which is nice.

The sun is out, the wind is slight and I am thankful that the apron to our garage no longer has any snow or ice on it. So yay !!! Snow is still on the ground, however treated and scraped roads are about 95% clear.

Your ice has hit us, the roads are a skating rink this morning. This has been the weirdest Winter....I am so glad that I do not have to travel. So many people have been late or missing work this year, it is crazy.

"They" say our temps will get above freezing this afternoon. Time will tell.

The ice here has melted but it's cold. I went out early this morning to fill bird feeders and the ground, which is usually soft with a bit of give under my feet, was hard and unforgiving - not icy but frozen, which felt weird. I imagine you guys deal with this all the time. Other than that, I've been inside for 3 days. I'm ok with that smile

Still inside other than feeding the birds. Didn't even go to church Sunday. Tomorrow I have an appointment to get a haircut so I'll have to go out. I've got to get my hair trimmed!!

My bank is going all digital so I'm changing banks. It's going to be a headache.

Oh good Lord..I hate to hear that. I actually walk into my bank fairly often. I would hate for it to go all digital.

Lucky me, I do not have a hair appt. until The middle of February. Be safe, Sheri.

And oh, our roads were good we finally were able to drive to church Sunday.

Yes. My bank is going to all online banking which means if I need or want cash I'm going to have to go to an ATM which will probably charge me between $3.00 and $5.00. I rarely go into my bank but sometimes I go to the ATM and take out cash and I don't have any loans but how does that work - if a person needs a mortgage how is it done?

I was wondering that as well. Plus there are several other things one needs to go INTO a bank to do. And also what about Safety deposit boxes ?
I guess it is time to find a new "busy" bank, huh, Sheri ,?
I will say that a company bought our long time bank at home and there is like 1 teller in it, and you have to make an appointment to do anything of substance. My bank used to be full of busy workers and customers. Ya gotta wonder.

...and what about the elderly (or people like me) that do not have a 'smart phone', how will a person cash a cheque?? What a mess this world is heading for.

Not to mention did you know that if say I write a check to one of my grandchildren, their parents cannot use the Internet to cash it ? The person whose name is on the check has to have a bank account at said bank to deposit/cash a check.
I have no idea what is going to happen. So now I have to write one check to a parent and tell them who it is for. ( My DD does not want me to send cash thru the mail)

I have no idea what will happen. I guess our money will all be direct deposit and we best have a debit card.

I did it today and it's taken me hours to change everything over and I still don't have it all done. I have a few things, thankfully just a few, that are drafted so I have to change that information and my dental insurance site won't let me so I'm gonna have to call them tomorrow. What a mess.

Good luck Bestofour. I am thinking of opening an account at another bank...just to be safe. That way if one goes digital such as yours, I'll already have a start. We lost our local bank years ago, then lost our ABM machine. I have to travel almost an hour to go to my bank, then our ABM machine is only open different hours on different days in the lobby.

51*F and rain yesterday and eventually in the single digits today/ tomorrow. We shall soon all be sick.
Good news is we also had high winds so the roads will be dry and clear.

Good Morning

Yup, yesterday we had freezing rain. I had GB here because my daughter had no power for 7 hrs, she only has electric heat. She sent him down when we got the warning the night before. lol

Today it is storming, it is a white out. Thankfully GG is writing exams and had none scheduled for today since they did not cancel school.

We are getting a major freeze up starting tomorrow, we are already getting the frost bite warnings. Mother Nature is 'loopy' this year.

Sorry for the loss of power. I hope it is restored soon.

Glad you got to keep GG home and safe. May that trend continue. And yes, Mother Nature is very confused this year. At least that is my thinking.

Sunny, I'm surprised school wasn't cancelled for a white out. How are you supposed to get there?

Our high tomorrow and Wednesday is 31° which is cold for us.

I do have a brick and mortar bank. It's actually the same building. Since the beginning of the world, I think, local government federal credit union (for people working at the health department and fire department and things like that) and the state employees credit union (teachers, department of transportation and I don't know what else) have been in the same building, using the same tellers, same drive through windows, same safety deposit boxes - it was like one bank but separate somehow - different interest rates and other stuff I guess. I was able to join the local government federal credit union when I worked at the local hospital (not sure why because it's not a government facility but I was given the opportunity and took it.) When I left the health department and went to school nursing and retired from school nursing - my retirement comes from the State of NC. That made me eligible to bank at the State Employees Credit Union. I never changed my account over from local to state because I didn't see a reason to do so. It is the Local Government Federal Credit Union that has been bought out by Civic, which is a credit union but the only offices are the main offices in Raleigh, NC which is at least 4 hours from me. Thankfully I was able to switch over to State. If I had stayed at the health department, which is considered local government, I would not have been able to move to the State.

This is the notification that comes up when I tried to find a local ATM.
"Other ATM networks may charge an ATM fee that Civic will reimburse, up to a total of $20 per month per debit/ATM card."

And I think the Raleigh branches are not actually banking buildings. The 2 branches in Raleigh are administration stuff only.

It's confusing I know but I'm glad I was able to get moved.

They only cancelled 3/4 of the schools in our province but it should have been all of them. Thankfully GG had no exam yesterday so she was home either way.

It is minus -30*F this morning, we are back to plugging in vehicles to start....it is supposed to warm up though in a few days. I am thankful for wood heat this morning.

Sunny is it really -30*F or is that with the wind chill factor? I can't imagine -30.

Yup, it was -42*F with the wind chill. The battery in the old loader tractor could not take it, even boosting and charging didn't work...so today I had to go get a new battery. It is supposed to start to warm up some in a few days, I hope so.

I can't imagine having to plug in my car Sunny. More power to you. And as far as banking for people who don't have a phone, I have no idea what they're supposed to do. I think it's the same with doctors offices sending messages about appointments and results on line - set up your password and sign in - for everything. I hate it and tell my doctors office each time I go that they need to call me with results but guess what, they don't.

I have had a lot of trouble with various drs- businesses telling me that I signed up for paperless billing and other online stuff, when I did not, and I then have to call and request my bills & such be sent to me via the USPS. I know of an instance where a person had to enroll to something online, then when they did, the company said oops no you did no such thing. So now I go out of my way to avoid online contact. I used to check in for Drs. Visits via My Chart but I think that is how I was suddenly "signed up" to get paperless billing. That was a mess to straighten up and as a result I will no longer signing on with My Chart. I hope I do not live long enough to see the world go to 100% paperless contact. And sadly I think it is probably coming.

I too have had to call for results from Drs. I always hope if the news was bad, that they would call me.

I have to fight for 'paper bills' here as well, but no paper ...no payment usually works.

It has warmed up for the day, we have hardly any snow but the weather is COLD. It is nice to see a day without frost bite warnings.

As hard as it is to believe, Florida had more snow on the ground than we have right now.

Don't count on getting a call. When Johnny's thyroid went to hell he got a letter informing him that his labs were possibly fatal and he should call for an appointment. It took 11 days for the USPS to get that letter to us. I hate MyChart too.

Lovely weather today. Not hot not cold. Love it.

In the low 50's today here. Remember when I said we will all be sick ? Well I am sick, and my DD is as well. She is staying home tomorrow but if/when she goes back to work, guess who gets to keep her sick kids. Yep you guessed right. Me.

Sheri: I know just what you mean I usually give them a few days then call. Clearly using My Chart is not a good idea.

Sleep well my friends, and keep warm.

I hope you and your family feel better soon. I'd watch the sick kids at your DD's, let them spread their germs there instead of your own house. lol grin

It is another freezing day, minus -24*F here. DD's car would not start yesterday. The place where she lives has no outdoor receptacle to plug in her car. It's a good thing she is doing the online part of her course at home in Winter.

Glad your DD did not lose a day, Sunny. Thank goodness for online courses, right ?

It will actually be in the 50's in a few days for a few days after that. I guess I'll take what we can get.

Was 60° here today and is supposed to be warm all week.

I've been working on getting all my stuff together so my children won't be in a mess when I die. I've had friends die without anyone knowing any passwords or where to find stuff and it was a mess. Took years to get straightened out. I'm trying to avoid that for my children.

Yes, I too think that is a great idea. I already have my funeral wishes down on paper... For Christmas I bought 3 organizational books for the things that you are speaking of. Each of my girls got one, and I have one. But as you point out, I need to put all of my information in that one book. Great Reminder.

My dad got upset with my mom for letting my DD have their info so she could copy it, so he hid the originals. Then he gets sick and passes away. Thankfully all TPTB accepted copies of the copies, so Mom had no problems then.
So I also think Yours is a very good idea.

So happy for your weather.

You gals are smart, the only preparations we made was to tell DD not to worry, just cremate us and the money is in the savings account to cover it. We really need to get a Will made.

If DH dies first, the first thing I have to do is go back to work. If I die first, the first thing DH will have to do is....find another wife. lol

You are right about the another wife thing. But to my notion your DH will never find another you. He. Should thank the Lord he found you.

As Rod tells me ( if he dies it will mess up my entire weekend) So it will mess up his then he will get rid of most everything. There will be no plants, no decorations, about 4 plates, 2 cups, 4 forks, and so on. He loves to throw away stuff so I hope he lets the girls take what they want first. ( I have items from my grandparents, Rod's family and me of course. ) But I will not be here so I guess it does not matter.

That has to be one of the strangest things I have ever heard. crazy ~I would have told him, then die during the week...I don't want my weekends 'messed up'. haha

It is snowing a bit, not a lot but enough to raise temps a bit. DH's friend called last night...their well froze. They never piled any of the little bit of snow we got around it.

I would think that where you live, people would know better. SMH

That comment from Rod....I take it as meaning he thinks I would not be all that upset with his passing. He says some strange things sometimes.

I am feeling. 100% today, so yay !!

I'm on a work computer and when the forum first opened up it was to a comment by TKHooper. Remember her? And Sunny you had responded. Way back in 2007.

Right after Johnny died, and I don't know why, I was in a mad rush to get rid of all his stuff. I moved stuff down the stairs and back up the stairs from one room to another. My girls thought I was going crazy (crazier) and I don't know why I did it. They kept saying I'd regret it but the only thing I regret getting rid of is his baseball mitt - and I have no idea why because I can't remember ever seeing him play baseball. I donated his clothes to a men's shelter and his suits and ties to a second hand shop where the lady said pastors sometime would come to get suits or other people come to get suits for job interviews. A bunch of my friends who've lost spouses hang onto stuff forever but not me. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Looking back, I think it gave me something to do. A purpose in cleaning up the house. I remember doing it but I can't for the life of me remember what I was thinking. I just know I was living alone and was working day and night arranging and rearranging his stuff and now other than a few jackets hanging on the back porch that he and I both wore outside, there's nothing left.

And Junie, I think Rod's comment is so funny. smile

Andy Sunny, I agree with Junie in that you'd think people would know better.

About your time after Johnny Passed. At a time like that, it is my opinion that one reacts, just to get by.
You think you are doing well and that you are in control but I think in reality one is just marking time. I think people need to do what they need to do to get by. And I think that was what you were doing back then.

About the TKhooper comment, I wonder so often where all our past members are. Many have passed on, that we probably do not even know about.

Junie, I've got you on the list of people to call when I give up the ghost so don't change your number. I hate when people just disappear. I do remember that TK, whose name was Tammy, I think, ended up with some type of cancer and ended up homeless for a while, so I have no idea what has happened to her in the end.

Was it Wrennie that also had a shop? I am trying to remember whom was who. I know Tammy was from Virginia.

Another cold day here. The sun is shining though and you can hear the chickadee's singing.

I looked it up. As I remembered they were the same person, but on our members list they are 2 different people. I guess it was Wrennie with the shop. I am all confused now. SMH at myself.

TK and Wrennie are 2 different people. Wrennie had some type of shop, her husband died, but not sure what happened to her. TK, who was Tammy, lived in VA. She had been in some type of military and had never married and had no children. I think she suffered from a severe case of PTSD and maybe anxiety. She lived on disability, maybe, very limited income but could not make herself stop buying plants and seeds and stuff where she wouldn't have money for food by the end of the month. Junie, I know you remember Jiffy. I'm going to ask her. Seems she's kept in touch with a lot of people.

I couldn't get on the forum yesterday. I could get on everything else but kept getting an "unable to connect" message from here. Not sure why but glad it's fixed.

Thanks for the update Bestofour. I also wonder about Tina's kids...Teddy must have been lost with her passing.

It is so strange to think about how people that we have never met 'face to face' can have such an impact on us. prayers

I had a message or 2 with one of Tina's kids right after she passed. She said she would get back to me when things were settled but she never has. I like to think one of the girls took over Teddy's care.

As far as Tina, Jiffy told me that she had things set up for Joni to take care of Teddy. It was a strange situation to me. When Tina's husband died (was his name John??) his life insurance was set up to be split 3 ways, Tina, Joni, Teddy. I don't think Joni ever had much of a job and always lived at home. I want to say they all became mostly reclusive when Covid hit because Tina was scared to death of getting Covid. Her daughter, Tangela, was delivering them groceries weekly and Tina and Joni ended up having Covid a time or two anyway. One of the last times Tina posted she said she hadn't been out of her house since March 2020. As we all know she ended up dying anyway of a heart attack. I wonder if she hadn't been so afraid of going outside and had gone to the doctor if she could have taken medicine or somehow saved her own life.

Yes, his name was John. And it is Tangela that I 'spoke" to. As I remember, Joni moved out with some friends for a while but moved back in with her mom at some point. And yes, I think you are right about her not having much of a job.
I also think you are right about Tina and going to a Doctor.

Snow and ice headed this way by the middle of the week. Good thing I went today to pick up some groceries.

Good morning, the sun is shining but we are under frost bite warnings....it is a 'hot coffee' kind of day.

Hot coffee..good..I have a cup right next to me.

Sun is out right now. But looks are deceiving.

I have to package the Valentine's Day gifts for the kids here today.
I have sent the rest already. And some have reached their destinations.

I get to go to the dentist for a filling on Valentine's day. Not that I am complaining, I was lucky to get the appt. It is getting near impossible for any kind of medical appointments in a timely matter.

I had lunch with the old people in my Sunday school class. They do things all the time. This was my first time participating and sorry to say I fit right in smile

We've had over an inch of rain since yesterday and my sister in Virginia has had 5 or 6 inches of snow. I'm tired of the wet but will be praying for it in August.

Sunny I go for a cleaning in a few weeks but that's a nice visit.

I have not been to the dentist since July of 2023 when my husband made it clear we would not be going back home to the dentist. I have had one recommended to me, but I really do not want a new dentist. SMH

Yea, I think about going to those dinners, but like you implied, I do not think I am old enough. LOL

The only thing I hate about the dentist is the cost. If I had the money I'd have false teeth, no more aches or pain.

I always enjoyed the company of older people....probably because I'd fit right in as well Bestofour. grin

There is a major storm on its way here, at least 16 inches of snow for today. All schools are cancelled for the whole province.

Yep

I agree about the cost. And my dentist from home, didn't take X-rays of my mouth too often as she should since I had so many for my various operations.. and When she did take the X-rays, there was never a hidden problem. and she was cheaper than most dentists in the area.
Well we do not have dental insurance and so as you say, cost is a factor. I

Glad school is cancelled. Your Grands are now safely at home, so yay !!

I got my ham and beans lunch today ! AND I saved half of it to have for lunch tomorrow. smile 😇

I went to a Galantines lunch with 3 friends from high school. Fun.

I do have dental insurance but sometimes I think for all the premiums I pay I'd be better off just paying for my visits but if something catastrophic happens I'm better off with the insurance.

We've had an inch and a half of rain in the last 2 days. My sister in VA has had 6 inches of snow. Ginger, in MS, has had buckets full of rain.

We too can have dental insurance thru our supplemental insurance. But we would need to get dentures every year to break even, so we do without.

Sheri, you are lucky to have had your Galentine's Day. I know you had a wonderful time. It makes me smile to think of it.

Our rain begins on Saturday.

Happy Valentine's Day! heart

Galentine's? What a great way to celebrate.

I am home from the dentist...the roads were TERRIBLE. School was cancelled again today, what a mess outdoors.

Yesterday I went to the Cheesecake Factory with a friend. I've been out to lunch 3 days this week and I'm tired of it. I need to go so I won't get nuts being by myself but I'd really rather stay home.

Carol, what's wrong with Cindy?

Did Cindy post on here?

I saw her FB post too but I have no idea what's going on other than her heart rate was low.

We're in for icy weather on Wednesday. I'm supposed to get my hair done. I hope I get to keep my appointment.

There was no school Thursday and Friday due to storms. Yesterday was a holiday(it stormed anyway) and today it is still snowing so school is cancelled again. The kids are really getting a snow break. That's what I get for saying we need snow coverage. lol

LOL, yep. We need to be careful what we wish for, huh ??

No school here yesterday for Presidents Day, and no school today because of the weather, and Likely no school tomorrow. Val's school was closed Thursday and Friday because of sickness, yesterday for the holiday and will close today after lunch and most likely tomorrow as well. "They" say it will probably be too cold for the snow treatment chemicals to do any good, so no school it is. I even had ti cancel a hair appt. Oh well, that was no loss, really.

Rod & Henry just came back from the Dollar store getting milk and dog treats.

Around 5 or more inches here...perhaps more...sun is shining but I don't think that will help today. It is 12*F right now. We may get more today but hopefully the roads can be cleared for tomorrow. Our subdivision is hardly ever cleaned off unless a local home owner wants the road cleared off so they can get to work, or if sometimes the town plows have a few spare minutes.
Trash was supposed to be picked up last night beginning at 8 pm ( instead of 2 am) but they didn't come at all.

The kids and my DD are all home today. AMI days.
(Alternative Method of Instruction). But that will not affect my DD as she does not have a classroom.

5 inches of snow is a lot where you live isn't it?

The kids here have missed so much school and they still have not set up the 'home learning' system they were supposed to. They should have left the 'Covid instruction' as an emergency based education plan but of course, if it works...they do something to stop it.

Yes it is a lot of snow where we live. Further south they have major flooding instead. I will take the snow, even if it comes with ice.

The weather guy said on his way into work yesterday the roads were wet with melted ice and snow. That surely turned into ice last night.
No school for either schools in my family today. My DD on the East coast had school today though. I have to wonder how they get the roads clean in that area with all the multi lines of heavy traffic. But I guess they do somehow.

Sunny, yes, your schools should have left that plan in place for in case it was needed. rolz

Aubry's school was out for winter break anyway but other schools were out Monday, Wednesday and again today. It's been snowing since yesterday but very little of it has stuck to the ground. It was 23° this morning at 7 but it's up to 31° now. Next week we're back in the 60's. So crazy.

Monday here was President's Day after that, there was no school for the kids the rest of the week. Valarie had a half day Tuesday as they had been off since the Wednesday night the week before. No virtual learning today either. The grade school kids here were told online, by their Principal they were to do 30 minutes of reading, various cleaning chores ( like putting away all toys they had gotten out during the snow days, etc.) And to write a nice note to their parents. I have to wonder if the parents read those "instructions" to their kids.

below 0*F today when we got up, 13*F now at 9:40 am. Sun is shining though.
So at least we have that.
Sheri, we too will be into the low 60's next week. Crazy weather indeed.

One of my bathroom lights broke. It's an LED light, which says it lasts for 45 years - not so, so the entire fixture had to be replaced. Spent a large part of the day at Lowe's trying to find a light fixture I like. While there I bought a rug I didn't need. smile Since I've had the upstairs bedrooms newly painted I'm going to change everything up. Maybe get new blackout curtains too.

LED lights do not last 45 years. At least that is my experience with using them. Not that I even like them. But then can we even buy any other kind any more ?

Have a great time redecorating your room.
Blackout curtains are the best !

Bestofour, Nothing lasts as long as it states, there is no quality in anything anymore. Did you end up finding a fixture in the end? I have to replace a fixture over my kitchen sink but I just keep forgetting about it. It takes specialty bulbs that are costly, I'll definitely buy the new fixture when this bulb burns out.

I bought a new set of black out curtains many years ago at Walmart on clearance. I've washed them in the bathtub every year and they are still like new. They were good quality I must say.

Junie, we can still buy the old type of bulbs at our farm store.

I did get a new fixture and I still get regular bulbs. We went through a spell when we could only get the ones with a squiggly shape but not sure what happened, but regular ones are back.

I have black out curtains now that I had made several years ago but want different ones. I want to change my whole room.

Sunny, I will be sure to look at our local Rural King (a farm store) next time we go. Thanks for the tip.

I have 2 sets of black out curtains. One pair are brand, in their package, new but a few years old. I have not used them yet. That pair I have hung. I really should wash them, I have them in the kids bedroom so since I am not in there much I am sure they are at very least very dusty.

Just got back from the 3 girls 9th birthday party. I sit here wondering how they got to be so old ???

9 already, time does fly. I hope you all had a fun time.

I am starting my house cleaning today, by the time spring rolls around I have other things to do. Today is a 'wash the ceilings' day...I'll have a sore neck tomorrow. lol

Gosh 9. How can that be?

Do the curtains really work as far as sun and noise? You got them at WalMart? The ones I have now that I've had for years work pretty well and I hate to have to take stuff back.

Today I got a shot of cortisone in my foot that I hurt during the wreck in June. Sure hope it helps. It's not unbearable but it hurts when I wear anything with a heel.

Sunny, I can truthfully say I have never washed a ceiling. I vacuum the corners of the ceiling sometimes but have never washed them.

Was 64° today.

I have no idea how those little babies are 9 years old already. And guess what ? Heidi has contacts. She just got them. She got them early as she told her mom she was worried about her glasses falling off while she was playing basketball and then someone stepping on them. She has wanted them for years, but her eye Dr. wants his patients to wait until they are 10. But they are letting Heidi try them.

I lovey room darkening curtains. The ones I have up came from Kohl's. They keep the light out, and on the winter they keep out extra cold, and extra heat out in the summer. I love mine

I have not ever washed ceilings either. Corners, an occasional wall, and of course my ceiling fans, but no ceilings.

Sorry for your foot, Sheri.
How long will the shot last ?

Low 50's here today. Still snow on the ground though, so not that warm yet.

Bestofour, I hope your foot feels better soon. The curtains work great for light, not sure on noise though. DD got her curtain set from Amazon.

Junie, that is young for contacts. I hope they solve her worries.

We are supposed to get a melting day today, calm before the storms ahead. lol

Good morning.
Yes 9 is young for contacts. The Dr. said they like to wait until at least 10 years old, unless the parent requests them for the child. My DF requested them. My GG has to wear them for 2 weeks then go back to the Dr. He may have to adjust the prescription. I also think that gives the child a bit of time to decide they don't want them yet after all. BUT they did say contacts would be a better thing for her eyes than glasses with what here eye problem is.

We are getting a few warmer days this week (a preview of spring the weather guy said) then back to colder weather. But at least the temps will hopefully not be in the minus degree temps..although I guess ,-10 is not so bad when you consider what Sunny often has, huh ?

Later today it is supposed to be at least 60*F.

Sunny has weather all over the place Junie. lol

Yesterday it hit 42*F, this morning we woke up to freezing rain. (I kept GG home even though they never cancelled school))...now it is snowing. If I wouldn't drive on icy roads than I have no intention of putting a child on a bus for over an hour.

Good morning, the sun is shining. A few flurries in the air with a storm for Saturday. I hope it is sticky snow...it is icy outdoors.

Yay for sunshine !! That is always a p!us. Especially this time of year.

It was supposed to have rained last night. I think all that happened was the sidewalks almost got wet.

Good morning. wavy

I'm going to measure my window and go by Kohl's and see if they have some in the store. I'd rather see them in person if I can. I hate having to return stuff. Maybe they'll have a bedspread that will work too.

We had some lovely weather for a few days, got a lot of yard work done, was chilly yesterday and unbelievable windy, today 29°. I meant to cover the buds on a few plants and forgot. Hope they made it because this will be the second time for them getting murdered so they may not come back again.

9 is early for contacts but if they don't work for her she can always go back to glasses. And it's true that she might drop her glasses playing sports and then have to wait to get another pair and not be able to see well. Smart girl.

Sunny, you are so wise. It amazes me the parents who drive their children down the driveway to the bus stop and then let them get on a bus knowing that the roads may be covered in slick spots. I wouldn't do it. Usually our schools close down for bad weather, sometimes they close just at the risk of bad weather which is ridiculous, but better safe than sorry I suppose.

My foot does feel better. The doctor said it might stay better (hoping) but I can get another shot in 3-4 months if needed.

Have you ever had a cramp? Last night I was sitting on the couch minding my own business and I got a cramp in my inner thigh and it hurt so bad I thought I was going to faint or vomit or both. I stood up thinking it would go away and when it didn't go away it started hurting so bad I couldn't sit back down. It lasted several minutes. I got clammy and sick feeling and my vision blurred and I literally thought I was going to pass out but I was able to sit back down on the couch and lay over and it finally stopped. It was awful.

I didn't feel like I was dehydrated cuz I drink a lot of water but that's usually the case. It was horrible is all I know.

I've ordered some black out curtains from WalMart and a bedspread from Belk. Hope they work. I've taken all the pictures down in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and am not sure I'm putting them back up. Pictures are so hard to figure out.

I went to a friends for brunch today. Have you ever met anyone for the first time and immediately decided you don't especially care for them? Sounds childish doesn't it?

No it does not sound childish. I think to follow your intuition is always a good idea.

Pictures. I do not concern myself with asthedics or balance. If I have some photos I want to display, then that is what I put up then if/when I am in that room I can see them. Easy Peasy.

Nope, not childish at all. I've had that vibe many times...and I was always right.

Bestofour, cut out pieces of newspaper the size of the pics. You can then move the templates around with tape until you find what works...if you want to keep the pics that you have.

Sunny, that's a very good idea about the pictures. Once the curtains get here and if they fit I'm gonna do that. I ordered a new bedspread and even though it said Queen on the information it is NOT a queen. Way to small so I've reordered.

Have either of you been to the DMV lately? In NC we have to go in person every other time we need our license renewed. The reminder card says to make an online appointment and thankfully I did (which I did 2 months ago thankfully) because when I went today in the pouring rain people without appointments were having to stand outside in the rain. Guess they didn't read their card or just decided to wing it. Ginger says MS is not like that and a friend in GA says the DMV isn't like that. Not sure why mine is.

When I lived in IL I knew people who renewed online. I have never been able to. Here in MO I think I now get to go in person all the time. Crazy.

Sorry for your mis-delivery, Sheri. I hope the correct bedspread comes next time.

Here for our DMV, we just need to go in the building, pick a paper tag from the roll for our number to be called(yup, still old school)...then we wait to be called, give them our info, get a new picture taken. We are given a paper copy until our new license comes to us in the mail a couple of weeks later. The waiting for our card in the mail started during Covid. We were only allowed online renewal during Covid as well.

I hate having to return ordered items, especially when it is the company's fault.

We are covered in freezing rain, what a mess out there.

That is how our DMV works both here in MO and in the few I have been at in IL Sunny.

If it is Kohl's or Amazon we can return at our local Kohl's otherwise I usually give away what I cannot use or does not fit. I hate returning as well.

Sorry for the freezing rain Sunny. Here it is like 41*F and for once not much wind. There is sun but still chilly. I guess the ground is so cold it keeps the air feeling cold.

I took my bedspread to the store today and bought another while I was there. Actually bought two smile They were on sale. Love them both.

We actually had a day that was not windy. I hardly knew how to act.

"They" say that our temps will be in the 70's next week. I think it will just be a week of teasing. I personally cannot wait for spring...(minus the rains).

The curtains I ordered from WalMart are definitely NOT blackout even though it says they are right on the packing so they are going back tomorrow. Plus the panels were supposed to be 80 inches wide (as described) but what they've done is sew two 40 inch wide panels together and didn't even sew them together at a spot so it would look right - it made the pleats all off center. Why not just tell the truth in the description and save everyone a bunch of trouble. I've ordered more from Amazon. Keep your fingers crossed.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, but I wonder if someone didn't buy the blackout curtains from Walmart then use them, put the wrong pair in the Walmart pkg. and return it to get the case back.

Anyway. I hope you have better luck with Amazon, Sheri !!

Glad you got them returned. What I was thinking is that someone bought some cheaper curtains, then went to Walmart bought a higher end set of curtains and switched them out. Then returned the cheaper set in the package of the higher end ones. IF it was done well they probably just returned them to the shelves. So the curtains you got would not look old, just not be as nice as what you thought you bought. Just an idea.

My Walmart black out curtains work great....mind you, they were bought a long time ago. Quality is lacking these days.

We have had days of ice, rain then finally some sticky snow. I have to go get a few groceries today, the roads are finally cleaned up.

Well, like I said..my blackout curtains came from Kohl's. I love how they work. But like Sunny said. I bought mine awhile ago...Summer of 2018 to be exact.

Beautiful day today...and from what I saw on the weather report our weather will be nice all next week. Sadly I am sure we have not seen the last of winter.

We got freezing rain through the night, a person could skate out there.

I can't wait to hear the birds start to sing in spring. grin

Good Morning.

I too cannot wait to hear the birds either. Rod did see a pair of small birds in my fake hanging planter on the front porch.
I used to put real flowers in it, but it caused the parents stress when I would lower the planter to water. So now I have artificial greenery in it. We are all happy now. Sad part is now I don't get to look into the nest to watch the babies grow. Probably best though.

The curtains came and I love them. I'm going to have to hem them about an inch but that's ok.

I can't imagine not having birds singing all year round. Hope they show up soon for you guys.

So happy that you got your curtains and that you are happy with them. I hoped you would be. I had to hem mine as well. But as you say, that is ok.

we are having a faux spring this week, but next week is forecast to bring us back to reality. Surely the actual spring cannot be too far behind, right ???

Sleep well everyone.

Good morning, it is freezing this morning. I don't know where the mild weather we were supposed to get ended up. If any of you find it, send it over please. lol

I hate to say it, but perhaps it came to S. Missouri instead. Good news is it is not staying here beyond tomorrow afternoon/evening.

I hope it comes back to you now, Sunny.

It is 12:35 ish here. The tornado sirens keep going off. There is much wind and possibly hail. Not real sure as we are in the basement. TV just came back online, but the lights were flickering. TTY all tomorrow.

We are fine.
We had Tornado watches and warnings thru the night. We ended up just having horrid and fast winds and we lost power off and on a few times. So all is well here. But thanks much.
I hope you finally get the color/type of curtains that you want, Sheri. I will be thinking of you. Good luck.

Thank God, I was gone yesterday and just watched the news a minute ago.

Bless you for your kind words. We were concerned for awhile. We were watching the constant news for a few hours then were also in the basement for awhile as well, but I have already said that. why
