Wow, by the time the bananas get here they are yellow, some over ripened. We get those half price...they make for cheap banana bread.

Oranges on sale are $1 a piece but they have been dry tasting lately. I am tired of paying a fortune for under ripe berries, tough nectarines and mushy peaches. Ugh....

I think the winter is a time when we should not even try to find good fruit. Not much of it is good this time of year.
I need to start eating my own berries that I have in the freezer.

Good morning

I went to a new grocery store that opened called No Frills, it is a basic no name store. They had fruit/vegetables that had *imperfect* written right into the name on the bag or container. My gosh, I wish I lived close. I bought twice as much for half the price. Who cares if it is crooked, misshapen or too small. It's the same as eating out of your own garden...you eat your imperfect shaped produce.

Driving an hour to get there doesn't help the budget though. I will be making it a regular stop when I go pay the monthly bills, today was the annual vehicle insurance. 🚘

The navel oranges I've been getting are delicious. The apples not so much. I haven't eaten one of the green bananas smile

More rain today. We need it but the ground is very wet. Not doing anything out there for a while.

I bought some squash and cucumber seeds today. I'm not sure I'll plant them because I don't want to have to worry about squash bugs all summer but I probably will. I can't help myself it seems.

Glad you are finding good oranges, Sheri. One of us should.
The kiwi's I am buying are ok. As are the grapes.
I do have to soak the older grapes in water for several hours though.

Good morning. We are at a bow match to watch my grandson. I have to wonder if he is well enough to do his best.

Why do you soak grapes?

Hope your grandson was ok.

The rain has stopped so today I'm cleaning off the screened in porch unless my frig is really broken and I have to go buy a new one.

The grapes: they were getting old and starting to shrivel up.
So. I washed them off THEN I soaked them in water.
I left them overnight and when I ate them the next day, they were solid like fresh berries. So yay !!

He had/has what we did. (Some viral thing that mimics a cold but is worse really).
He is better today .perhaps not hundred percent but much better.
Thanks for asking

Cold, dreary, and a bit of rain here today as well.

My new frig was delivered. Happy about that. I missed ice.

I'll be absent for a few days. I'm going to the beach with a friend from high school.

Have fun Bestofour.

I hope the residents of your hospital do not share with you Junie. 😘

I have an eye appointment this afternoon. I dread having to get glasses but I think my left eye is going to need them. ☹️

Good morning!

The residents of my hospital feel better today due to the medicine they got yesterday. But I will still be vigilant I promise.

Good luck with your eye appointment Sunny.
The good news about glasses is each lense can have a different prescription and you can have progressive lenses. We live in a wonderful world.

Sunny, since I've retired I never know what day it is. My children tell me all the time "mom it's a school day" smile

I can not wear progressive lenses because they make me dizzy.

Junie, glad the girls are better.

The beach was fun now Ginger and her crew are coming Sunday through Friday and I'm excited about that. It was beautiful weatherwise here today so I did some yard work. So much has already started blooming. I'm thinking of putting out some coneflower seeds tomorrow.

I am jealous, Bestofour. Can I go visit so I can do your yard work?

Freezing rain is on its way today, then a snow storm warning for the beginning of the week. We sometimes get snow into May.

Gosh Sunny. Sorry for your weather. It was lovely here again today. I planted a white dogwood tree, put out some coneflower seeds, cleaned out a flower bed that I'm not going to plant this year, and did some other yard stuff. I was in the yard most of the day. Remember the pine needles I put out the other week? Then we had the shocking wind for days in a row? Lots of the needles are blown totally away. I was able to scrape up some that I could find and put them back in place but I'm going to have to buy more.

Colt will be here tomorrow. smile

And it rained yesterday afternoon and is sprinkling today so my tree and seeds should be happy. smile I went to WalMart for groceries and while there got a few packs of seeds. In years past I would say this is too early but I think my winter is over. Too bad cuz we could use some freezing weather to kill off a few more bugs.

We had freezing rain through the night then It rained all day. I have never seen that this early in March, mind you it is calling for over a foot of snow Wednesday.🙈

What seeds did you buy?

Yep, Mother Nature is all confused. I guess we just as well get used to it. Sadly this type of crazy weather may well be our new normal.

It rained here again last night.

Good morning.

Good evening, it has snowed about 8 inches and they are calling for another foot. What a mess out there.❄️

There are already power outages with the winds, i am glad I do not work when it comes to weather like this.

Good grief. We went to a Carolina baseball game in Chapel Hill, NC, yesterday and it was blazing hot and is 80° right now. It's already too hot for me but I think it's gonna be hot from now on.

Ginger and her crew have been her since Sunday and I'm living my best life. Colt is such a joy.

Wow that is hot for this time of Year Sheri, ..or does it always get that warm this early in the year where you are ?

Glad your family is there and you are getting to enjoy them. And especially Colt.
That makes me smile.

Sonny. Wow, that is a lot of snow. I too am glad that you do not work (outside the home that is) when the weather is like you are having just now....

It is nice to hear that you are having a wonderful time with family, Bestofour. Can I borrow those temps for just a day or two? 😁

Good gosh, the freezing rain is terrible out there. I need to clean the driveway but then it will be too slippery. Mother Nature needs to stick to one season at a time.

It usually isn't this hot so early in the summer so I hope and pray this isn't how it's going to be this summer or we'll be fried by August. It is actually cooler today with a high of 75° and a nice breeze.

Ladies, I can't believe how all our children are growing up. I know it's the way of life but it makes me sad. Aubry will graduate high school in May and Colby is going off to work on his master's degree and will be living away from home for the first time and I just can't stand it.
