Yea, it will probably be really hot here as well. It seems we are wearing sweaters and jackets one day and shorts and tank tops the next. I know I am older but I remember having spring weather after winter and before summer.

Junie, hope the party was fun and he got stuff he loves. Went to the movie yesterday and saw Normal. Not that great. Bob Odenkirk is in it and I liked him in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He's a good actor but the plot was not good. I haven't been to a movie in a long time and it was nice to get out even if the movie was no good. Today I went to the farmers market, got 2 tomato plants which makes a total of 4, planted them today, watered, cleaned out a bird bath, and not a lot else. Shelley's crew is taking me to lunch after church tomorrow for my birthday and the next week, I'm going with a friend, to Brookgreen Gardens in SC for my birthday. Happy birthday to me Amazon is retiring my Kindle so what am I going to do???

Sounds like you had some fun Bestofour...and that the fun will continue. Not sure on the Kindle. I read for free on Archive.org
My snow is finally starting to melt. The older I get, the longer Winter seems to be.

Amazon is retiring my Kindle so what am I going to do??? I have to ask...how do you "retire" a Kindle ??? ALSO : to really answer your question... You buy a new one, right ??? Johnny bought me this Kindle in 2012 and Amazon has decided, even though it works just fine never had a problem at all, that they will no longer allow books to be added to it. I've researched new model Kindles and reviews are not good - problem after problem after problem. My library system isn't large and these days if they get a new book it's usually only one copy. I'm thinking I'm not giving in to Amazon's trying to bully me into buying a new one and just do without.

Ok..I have an Amazon tablet. ON that tablet I have some type of Kindle app. I buy my books thru Amazon and I also get free books thru Freebooksy and a few other sites. I can then also get them on my phone as well as my tablet. IF I buy books directly from an author they only get added to my tablet. Research the Kindle app. To my memory it was a free app.

I would not buy a new Kindle either Bestofour. I just have a Walmart brand tablet, I only use free sites for books. Is it possible to add a new Kindle app to the device?
I use openlibrary.org for most of my free books.

I have the Kindle app on my phone and iPad. After May 20th nothing can be done with my Kindle. Added or taken away. So aggravating since it's working perfectly.
I'll try openlibrary.org. Do you download them to the Kindle app or your tablet?

Also talk to your local library. When I lived in Illinois my library where I used to live gave me the link to download books from my library there. Good luck !!
(Sorry about the Kindle)

I have it downloaded just to my cheap tablet. It's confusing at first but after a few tries, I have it working great. I read a book in just a few days so it has been a lifesaver with our long winters. I like the fact that you can borrow most books for 14 days. Today's the last day for my interior spring clean. My husband is glad to hear that....I make the biggest mess to put things right.π

Hello everyone. Sheri..I/we think you do not need to purchase another Kindle. We have offered you several ideas. Right ? If it were me, I would keep the Kindle, as a reminder if nothing else. Is there at least something it will do for you ?

If I had a local library, I'd just go there. I like 'real books' but not the cost of driving an hour to go.

I had 2 libraries close to me back when we lived in Illinois. And then a third 30 minutes away. Life was grand. I had libraries, grocery stores, and all kinds of other stores. Restaurants. Much nicer than here...But as far a libraries go, the one close to me just moved into a larger place and there is another 20 minutes away. The one 5 minutes away is having a plant swap tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. I wish I had a plant to trade.
Good morning !

Usually plant swaps also sell plants, you should go for a drive just to see what it is all about.
I planted a pack of crocus from the dollar store last fall. They are up and blooming, the pack said purple and yellow but they are all white and yellow. Oh well, I'll take any kind of bloom I can get. I planted them in the nook that always melts the snow before anywhere else. I should try get some somewhere else this fall to plant I bunches. They certainly brightened up my week.
Sad part is it is calling for a bit of snow this afternoon.

Thanks for the intel, Sunny. I just may do that. Oh crocus...sounds wonderful. The clay soil we have here is not very flower friendly. I have planted about 2 pkgs. Of grape hyacinth and I have 2 small plants that have survived. Over the 7+ years We have lived here I have had more plants die, and I am assuming because of the soil. Another reason to plant annuals in pots here. But hey, at least my dad's Columbine is doing well. I may ask Valarie if she will let me Bring her a start, so I know it will live on after I am gone. I let his sage die....I feel so bad about that. Sorry for your snow. Perhaps where your crocus is will be protected some.

I've been at the beach for a few days. Took a tour of Brookgreen Gardens and ate fresh seafood. So fun.
No Junie, my Kindle is very old and won't do anything else - just good for book reading and from the letter I read (and I don't know how this will be accomplished) I will not be able to access books already downloaded onto it after May 20th.
I do have a library not far away. I go to an in person book club once a month, BUT, after budget cuts some years ago, the library gets 1 new book - not the several of days past. I have used the digital accounts (Libby and Hoopla) but there again, the library may have none or 1 or 2 books available to access this way. The only way my in person club has been able to keep going is that several of us have used Amazon for downloading and ordering from Thrift Books. Buying books gets expensive even using Thrift Books. I have talked to my library people and the library is charged for having books on their digital libraries and my library just can't afford a lot. I like reading Agatha Christie and my library doesn't have her books. They used too so I'm not sure what happens with older books.
Junie did you send me an email with Amazon first reads?

When I type in Agatha Christie on openlibrary.org I get over 1000 hits. You can sort from first editions to new editions....all for free.

Good idea ! Let us know how it goes. I think I would like to try that. I know I said my library in IL said that was a possibility but I didn't know how to to it at the time so I didn't even try to learn to do it.
Also remember Freebooksy. They send you new offerings every day..then you choose some or not.. either way it is free.

Good morning. Hope you're weather is as lovely as mine even though we're in a terrible drought BUT because it's so dry there is no humidity to speak of and many of the bugs have not decided to hatch so far.

Yay for no bugs. Yesterday we got 3/10 inch of rain that was better than nothing though right. ?
Monday though we are supposed to get bad storms. But I guess on the bright side that will mean more rain.

It hit 50*F today and is supposed to be the same tomorrow. My snow is really taking a beating, I have large areas of bare ground now.π·
I hope you get rain soon Bestofour, it is terrible for the gardens and farmers. Does drought affect your insurance premiums where you live?

Thankfully we got a tiny bit of rain last night. Some is better than none and the temps for the entire week are cooling down to the 70's. Thank the Lord.

Yes, something us better than nothing. I am sure your plants were happy. Enjoy your mild temps while you can, Sheri.
We are to get storms with possible hail and tornados today/tonight. "They" say the who!e system should be out of our area by midnight.

Well we were ok..a few rounds of rain and some thunder. All in all we got 6/10 of rain. So just over a half an inch. Better than nothing. I had my rain bucket out. I was out of reserved rain water for my house plants.
Sunny and still today. I guess I should be thankful for that.

We got about 1/4 inch of rain last night and this morning. Not much but at least some.
I put in an order for groceries on Amazon and it was here this morning at 6:00am. The only thing wrong was I got lettuce instead of cabbage. I didn't order meat and I don't know that I will because it's too important for it to be right. If that makes sense, I really should make myself go to the store because I get crazy if I don't see a person once in a while.

Some rain is better than none..that is for sure !!
Perhaps if you go grocery shopping on a schedule it would seem an easier thing to make yourself do, Sheri ? I prefer picking my own out as well. Delivery is easier but it is like you say, sometimes you get what you get..which is not always good.
Thundering and overcast here now.
