It is my opinion that we have the right to complain. That is my story and I am going to stick to it. Amen.

Good evening. I mowed, weed wacked and edged today....and gave the flies a meal off of me. I think they like the fly repellant because it certainly doesn't keep them away. I'm probably just poisoning myself with deet for nothing.🥴

I definitely think sometimes insect repellent makes them bother me more. I bought some sticky type things and bracelets from Amazon and they work better for me than the spray.
Today Aubry and I went to see the musical Hairspray. We both enjoyed it.
I made a sweet treat, banana bread, haven't tasted it yet but I think I overbaked it.

I made 2 loaves of banana bread last night as well . One is in the freezer. And the other is half gone. If you indeed did over bake your banana bread, which BTW is easy to do, go to the store and buy some whipped cream cheese. You will not even notice with that on each slice, I promise.
I love the theater. Rod and I used to go occasionally when we lived back home. I miss that..but I do get to go to an occasional high school production where Valarie works That is fun. I am glad you and Aubry got to go today. I am glad that you both enjoyed it
The only time I use repellant is when I am picking ripe blackberries. Other was I use those stick on itch patches. They are a god send.

I just ate a piece and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be so it's not going in the trash. Just a bit darker on top than I usually let it get. Might get the whipped cream cheese anyway. Sounds delicious.

I want banana bread now, with crushed oatmeal in it and a sprinkle of nuts on top. 😋

I always add a crumb topping to my sweet breads. It adds a fancy topping to the breads, and IMO it makes it taste extra yummy as well. I love the taste of adding nuts to the crumb topping but the nuts always burn so I don't add nuts any more.
Good morning.

Junie, I use chopped cashews for the topping, I've never had them burn. We can buy small snack bags of cashews at the dollar store here....I keep a couple on hand for baking.
Today will be a clean and mop day, I have errands to run tomorrow with my mother. I think she pretends not to know how to use the bank machine just to make me go.🥴😂

I used to use pecans and they always burned. I guess I could cover the bread.
Perhaps your mom just does not like to go alone. I know that would be my issue. I hope you have fun.

I went to church then to the Mexican restaurant and ate way too much. Now I'm thinking of taking a nap. My ATM isn't a drive up like some. I have to park and get out of the car so at night it's probably not safe but I do it anyway.

I used the ATM when we first switched to a bank down here..but I go inside to the bank I am now associated with. I am of the notion that if the inside part is not used enough we will have to go to Cape to actually use an inside portion of a bank.
I ate too much at lunch as well..and I too am thinking of a nap. Great Minds

Our ATMs are located inside the mall. If the mall isn't open then there is no way to use it.

GG took a pic of my double red coneflower. The mess around it is from a lupine I had to cut back and spray because it was full of aphids.

Pretty. I can't get coneflowers to grow around here and I've tried and tried. I have no idea how I got this picture to post. I tried I don't know how many times without results and then it showed up.

I had to work and work trying to get pictures to post today. They finally did but it's such an aggravation because I can't figure out what I'm doing incorrectly.
Anyway hot as blue blazes again today and hotter tomorrow then hotter Friday. Maybe a tiny bit of rain Saturday. I pray it's true.

Good morning. It's a very windy day today, we are watching the forest fire index. So far, they are under control in our province.

Next few days to be very hit. Occasional scattered showers. I hope they stay away from here. Tomorrow night I guess I will water my garden. About the 3 rd time I have had to this season. My potato tops are dying. I guess I will soon be digging potatoes. Good morning.

Mmmmm fresh potatoes. We are supposed to get rain Saturday night and into Sunday. My potato plants are starting to flower as well. Did they figure out the cause of that Cyclospora episode yet? We have heard there are now cases in Canada...in the province of Quebec.

Rod is just reading about that. He is reading that Taco Bell and the company supplying their shredded lettuce are being sued because of the outbreak. And that Taco Bell had stopped getting their shredded lettuce from that supplier. But it does not say if that is the definitive cause of the problem.

It will get to the point that the only safe lettuce will be home grown from a closed in greenhouse.

I don't feel safe buying lettuce either. I'm going to the farmers market tomorrow so hopefully someone will have lettuce. I might try growing it myself this fall.

I think it's because restaurants are not washing the lettuce, to be honest. I grow my own here when it's gardening time....right now we are having a feast of buttercrunch variety. It just keeps growing as we take off the bottom leaves. Another hot day here but thankfully it is supposed to rain tonight. I deadheaded flowers this morning to save seeds.

Yea, rain.. I would appreciate some rain..just not 5 - 6 inches all at once.
I think you are correct about the non washing of lettuce. Even with my iceberg lettuce, I discard the outer leaves, and then wash the next layer.

Apparently we are supposed to fill a sink with cold water, add 1/2 cup peroxide and soak lettuce for at least 10 minutes. Sound good but I wonder how many people and restaurants have more bacteria in their sink than what's on the lettuce. 🙄

I bought buttercrunch lettuce at the market today. Even though it's home grown by someone I soaked it and washed it and spun it 3 times. I saw only one vendor selling lettuce and I'm sure he sold out.
This morning the forecast was for some afternoon showers but that has changed to no rain today. Seems like this happens every day.

I answered you both twice. what is it with this phone ?? Let me try again. I guess I will continue to use iceberg lettuce until I can grow my own again in the fall.
it is raining again. it was raining pretty hard but it has let up I hope the grown can hold what we got. Good news is I do not have to water tonight.
