I hope I am mistaken but I wonder if A) it saves the drug companies money because the
drug companies paid the insurance companies when they gave their clients aid in finding the best prescription company for our needs. B) If the consumer is doing this by themselves, I am sure many will be paying more money for less coverage and will never know Just me thinking out loud.

I am sure you are right on both accounts. When do you have to switch over to the new format?

Who isn't allowing the insurance company to do it? Are you saying the insurance company can no longer make a list of preferred pharmacies?

I'm going in the morning to get my head shot up. I sure hope it works. My friend gave me an Oxycodone, and I took half last night which didn't help with pain, but it did put me to sleep. I woke up several times due to the pain but was able to go back to sleep each time. But I have trouble with medicine and was groggy today and ended up taking a short nap but am still groggy. Hope the injection will do the trick for a while.

when we first went on Medicare, the insurance company we went to to help us did. They told us what our options were and what they thought was best for us. Now every year they go over our prescriptions to see which plan is best. Up until now the company they put us with pays them, not us, and we get the benefit. So now leading companies will not be compensating insurance agents for this work. AND Medicare prohibits the insurance companies from charging for these services .SO Unless I attend one of these classes I am out of luck. Iay ask them if they can continue to help me anyway.

Sunny: the forms have to be filled out between October 1, and November 25. The new plan will replace the current one on January 1, 2027.

Sheri: I hope you get some relief from your headaches. I will be thinking of you as well.

Those oxy's are strong. My DH took one after a surgery and he was out of it, he was just like a drunk person. I had to put him to bed. When he woke up, he made me take them back to the pharmacy....they gave us Tylenol 3 in the place of them. I hope your injections work.

Junie, is that change just in your state?

I was on the psi after one of my surgeries. A younger nurse than my usual INE came for one if my hospiral to home visits. She was way upset that I was one them. She called the Dr. And they spoke for a long time. I was put on something else. It was so long ago I do not remember the why.

Sunny I have no idea if this is just my state or nation wide.

Speaking of insurance - today the doctor gave me a prescription for a new medication that's supposed to work wonder for this type of pain and with my insurance it's $427.61. I'm trying to figure out just how much pain I'm in to spend that much on medicine.

will your pharmacy take Good RX or Single care ?
Mine will not but I think chains like Walmart, CVS and Walgreens will. look up the info and see if you can get that one prescription where one of those are covered. OR look your RX up on Trump's prescription site
I have no idea how that one works but it is supposed to make drugs less costly. Look around before you decide what to do. Going around and asking for info will only cost you time after all.

Yes Walgreens actually sent me the information but WITH the coupon it's more than with my insurance. It's 451. and some change with the coupon. Thanks for trying.

Jeepers, insurance is a scam everywhere.

I had to fight for generic meds once. I told them I only had insurance for six months a year, the other six months I am paying fully out of pocket. The pharmacy pushes name brand so they can get more money.

I have had the opposite experiences. I wanted brand name, because I trust them to NOT be filled with fillers. In the beginning all I had to do was request brand name and my insurance would pay for it. but slowly things evolved to it just about takes a court order to get brand name. and if you do, you pay dearly for the "privilege"

It's like medical prescription insurance, we pay more for the insurance when he is working then what the price of our meds are. Then when he gets his lay off, they want three times the price to continue it. None of it makes any sense.

yes when Rod would either get laid off or the union went on strike we had to get into our savings to pay for Cobra ( an expensive health insurance) the first time that happened we went thru all of our savings before he want back to work. but what is a person to do ?

My daughter's husband is self employed so they have private insurance with a $10,000.00 deductible. She has been getting her medicines at a local, privately owned, family run pharmacy. Last month the owner pharmacist asked her if she could get one of her prescriptions at a big store pharmacy because her insurance isn't paying anything on it anymore and it's not a common medicine so it's costing him to have to order it and he's NOT ALLOWED BY GOVERNMENTAL RULES for her to pay the cost out of her pocket. Go figure that one. Since she has insurance, even though it's no longer paying any part of the medicine, she is NOT ALLOWED to pay out of her own money for it. Talk about a scam.

thank goodness the pharmacy had the wherewithall to actually tell your DD this. that did them all a favor. Apparently there are a lot of senseless rules out in the world. The consumer is just not often told. It is good to share. huh ?

If my local pharmacy asked me to switch a med to another store....I'd switch them all. What a mess to deal with.

Well, my cukes are ready today. I have bowls of different sliced or chopped cukes everywhere, salted and waiting to be rinsed and cooked. My kitchen is a disaster but it will be good to have it all this Winter. Maybe making 4 different recipes at the same time wasn't the greatest idea. 🤔

I put myself in a pickle making pickles. I had everything ready and prepped to start making them after supper, they were sitting in salt waiting to be rinsed....then the power went out. I'm thinking, the weather is beautiful so what's going on? Well, some 74 year old man just bought himself an expensive sports car, was trying to see 'what it could do'. He lost control and cut off a pole.

I hope he enjoys his smashed car, reckless driving charges and high insurance premiums. I was up past midnight finishing my preserving by the time the power came back on.

oh my goodness..past midnight !!! I remember those days..but they are usually around Christmas. I will make a positive comment. At least that is one huge job done..and done all at once..well unless you get another batch of cucumbers, right ?

I don't know whether to think the man was stupid or just not fortunate. Rod and I were talking about sports cars and older people just a few days ago. It seems that happens often as it is the older ones that can finally afford such expenditures. Sorry his happy time was over so quickly. I also hope by winter you will remember this day when opening some of your pickles and laugh.

it is going to be a long day. I have been up since 5:00.

Junie why have you been up since 5? I've been getting up early only because I wake up with pain and instead of trying to get my head in a position to be able to sleep I just get up. I sort of like it. The birds are busy in the morning cool and I stand at the kitchen window and watch them. I'm also still working on cleaning out my closet. I keep trying on clothes and so far they all fit just fine so I have to tell myself that I'm never going to wear them again so I need to let them go. I have to stop thinking "what if" and remind myself there's not going to be a "what if" when I'll need this outfit. I've never had trouble getting rid of stuff so I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I am keeping a couple dark colored outfits in case I need one for a funeral.

Thankfully it's raining right now. Hope it keeps it up.

Sheri: I woke up to go to the potty and it was so hot in the bedroom that I could not settle down and go back to sleep. My DH keeps the house at 76*F which is too warm for me. We have a ceiling fan but just one switch, so I do not try to turn it on in the dark. Anyway I am not feeling tired so I guess I had enough sleep last night.

Clothes..I have way too many but I think to myself they are paid for. so I should keep them. And so I probably will.

Junie, I'm done with the cuke pickles and relishes. I still have to make pickled beets next week though. I don't make preserves like I used to though. I hardly give any away now except for my mother, she always gives me back my bottles.

Bestofour, are the meds and needles doing any good with your pain?

Sunny I hope you have enough pickles put up for the winter. I miss my mom and her pickled beets more every year. When she was still here, I didn't ever ask for any of her canned tomatoes or tomato juice either. Dad used so much I didn't want to make him short. I often wonder where Dad's Juicer went.

Yes, I have enough cuke pickles and relish to last until next year. I'll do beets next week, then see where I am with my tomatoes. I freeze my peppers whole. It's slowly coming together.

I cut the tops off my peppers and clean out the seeds then freeze.
I figure they are all ready to make stuffed peppers with them.

Glad you are moving along with your preserving.
This has been a bad year fir me. I only got about 25-30 pounds of potatoes and 3 cans worth of tomatoes. AND no jam. I should have a good year with my blackberries next year. I intend to make as much jelly as possible then.

Junie, you still done a great job for the little garden that you had. I'd say to go to the farmers market but no one can afford them anymore....it's a shame.

I am just amazed that I have large tomatoes that have turned red on my plants, our climates are getting hotter.

yes about our climates, And mine is getting wetter, which would sound like a good thing, it if we're not for the splitting of my tomatoes.And the grass .Usually by July it grows slower and begins to return brown..This year the growing has not slowed down and the grass is as green as ever. This is indeed a strange year. I do hope it is not a trend.

Thank you about your kind words. I guess you are right about what I was able to grow. IF I were your age I would buy a 3 rd raised bed, only an 8 ft one. But between the heat, and my age, the 2 will just have to do.

My pain isn't considered migraine pain, it's considered nerve pain. There's not much that works for nerve pain because it's hard to figure out exactly what's causing it. I've had 2 MRI's and nothing shows up so it's probably an after effect from that stupid car wreck. Nothing has worked long term. I have not bought the $400.00 medicine yet but may do it today and pray that it works. I wish I could buy 1/2 a prescription in case it doesn't do any good.

I haven't canned or frozen anything this year. I just don't eat enough of it to go to the trouble. The farmers market used to be cheaper than the grocery store but not this year. Tomatoes are $1.00 a piece. I still have a plant producing my own thankfully.

I used to make strawberry freezer jam because my mother and daughters loved it but my mother died and Ginger moved to MS and Shelley tries not to eat crap anymore so my strawberry patch has gone to weeds (it was a constant fight keeping the weeds out so I'm kind of glad).

Bestofour, I'd research the meds to see what people have to say about it working on nerve pain.

Junie, you need to get your SIL growing veggies on his new property...to share with you, you do so much for your grands.

Bestofour: IMO it would not hurt to ask the pharmacy if they would sell you half the amount..OR perhaps you could call the Drs. office and ask for half the prescription ?? BUT perhaps ask the pharmacy what half an amount would cost before you bother your Drs. office. (?)

The really nice farmers Market here is high on their items as well. It seems that everyone wants their same profit so IMO the consumer suffers.

Wow, are we ever getting a thunderstorm. Between the rain and lightning, it's quite a show out there. I love the smell of freshness in the air after it is done.

My container could have been filled quite a few times. It rained so hard that I couldn't see outside....it was just crazy.

It is a windy day today, the line is full of towels. I need to go tackle the mess in my garden shed....I really need to make more shelves in there.

I still have rainwater... usually by now, all of my collected water has been used...but not this year

I have beets cooking at the moment to make pickled beets after supper. This is the last of the vinegar pickling for the season....I think.🤔

But then you know that. I suggest you put up what you can. You will be happy you did this winter. Cut your cherry tomatoes in half and cook them down. ( add some water so they do not scorch ,?) strain out the skins and freeze enough together for a can or 2 of sauce
You can add the seasonings when you thaw the sauce to make pasta sauce, OR turn it into spaghetti sauce then preserve it.
I am considering making sauce out of my yellow cherry tomatoes. I have quite a few
They are sweeter tomatoes so I say what can be wrong with sweeter spaghetti sauce. I guess if it is too sweet I can always add seasonings to make the sauce less sweet.

also..you are not stupid..IF you are ever by yourself, you will not be lost..you will be able to properly take care of yourself. THAT is worth a lot !!

I roast my cherry tomatoes, cool and freeze them. The other tomatoes get blanched to peel them, cut up and froze as well. I used to can tomatoes but it is easier just to freeze them now that we do not have our own meat to fill the freezer anymore. I try fill it with frozen produce for Winter.

Pickled beets are made and the mess is cleaned up.

We ate one of my turnips today, raw. They are a fresh eating turnip called Purple Top Globe, they grow about 3 inches round and taste like a turnip/radish cross. I haven't grown them before.

Sunny, did you like the turnips. Sounds like it would be a fall/winter grown vegetable here. I've never eaten a pickled beet.
