I picked up bags of black earth by mistake instead of potting soil. It says half bark compost mixed with peat moss, any good for just substituting for potting soil? Or should I mix with something else?

If that's the mix it's going to be short on sand so you may have a compaction problem. But that's the only problem that comes to mind for me.

Your plants with heavier/thicker roots probably wouldn't mind it at all.

I'd add some of those water retention polymers. It doesn't take many but if your going to use it on your houseplants where dryness could be a problem that would help.

Nope, I'll be using it in flower pots that will get watered every night. Maybe I should just throw in a few handfuls of topsoil?

I like the idea of the water retention polymers---it would loosen up the soil and help you with water come July & August. You could kill 2 birds with one stone. clap

I see no other problem either
