The eggs compared to a quarter: an egg up close: just a bunch of blooms: and the plants together: The rest of the pics are in my PB, in the album titled "the wonder egg files"

I have 6 pots. 3 are on my dining room table and get filtered west sun and 3 are on my kitchen window sil, and get full west sun---I am hoping at least a few of them make it. Good news! Guess what? I have a purple flower on my wonder egg plant. One of the others has one also. What can I expect from here? How long for the egg to appear? I'm so excited, I can't wait. Yes, I do see bees flying around the yard.

Mark, some of my flowers just fell off also, I suspect that the ones that just fall off didn't get pollinated properly or at all. I have yellow and white eggs both and now have a bunch of new blooms on my plant, So I should hopefully have more eggs to come. I think we should do this every December and it looks like a lot of us will have seeds to share for a new project.

comfrey, that is great you had as many eggs as you did. I now have purple blooms on several of the plants! Approximately how long before I will see an egg? I'll keep my fingers crossed the flowers do not fall off.

I took my 3 WE plants that i had on the dining room table (that were receiving filtered light) and put them up on the kitchen window sill with the others---The Window sill 3 are about 2 x as tall---so now they all have the same chance. I think that 1 may not make it Penny, I recently found myself 36 seeds on E-bay that i bought so as to have back up, should these not make it. I have plenty to share, so if you would like to try again, just let me know. FYI: it took me 12 seeds to get my 6 pots. I am thinking that surely one of the 6 pots will grow to maturity.

Thanks, Carol!
I am using an Olympus FE-140, but am looking to get a better camera for close-ups - I feel that this one is just so-so for the pictures I'd really like to take. It's not all that reliable, and doesn't like very sunny days and some cloudy/hazy ones either.

Wow.. this looks very interesting.. but what is it? What do you do with the eggs? And these have been growing since December?? Wow.. Someone clue me in. Thanks!! These are plants that bloom then the bloom drops off and an egg develops first white , then blueish color, then gold/yellow, then brown, Then it drops off and cracks open and there are seeds inside to start alllllll over again Not recommended to eat! These take a long time unless you have them under growlights.. We started this last Dec 15 some got started later then others and some have already 'Egged" and some of us are just getting eggs.. Finally I got a picture of the one egg I finally did get!!

The fascinating thing about them, Pink, is that they really really do look like chicken's eggs, and even feel like them, but are growing on a plant!!! I've been growing them for a few years now, and I can't believe how many ADULTS have asked me if they are real chicken eggs!!! HUH?!?!?!? I saw the beginnings of my first flower bud today on the plant that barely overwintered for me this year - yippee!

Cool Lynne! Each of my 4 plants have to eggs, and tons of buds that the eggs are just poking through.. 8 visible eggs now, the biggest one almost egg sized I had a TON of spider mites on all my plants when I looked today.. the leaves were beginning to yellow and everything.. I cleaned 'em off, though, hopefully in time
