Diane - that is so exciting!!! What a very pretty flower you have there - I'm telling you, you have the midas touch! It IS interesting that the plant isn't all that tall and bloomed for you already - it took mine 3 years to get just a few blooms!
I really believe it is My compost and sheep manure combo and I feed all my brugs and datura Fish emulsion,, along with Bloom booster when I see the start of Buds /

I don't know what zone your in or how hard cold your winters get,, but you can start these inside this winter I'm sure,, and yes they can be grown in containers with the right soil mix ,, they love good drainage, and feeding,, good soil would be
1 part potting soil 1 part compost 1 part green sand,or vermiculite, or perlite 1/4 part bonemeal 1/4 part lime 1/4 part
If you don't have all the above Just be sure you have A good potting soil and mix 1/2 with compost, with good drainage.

Diane--just reading up on my daturna---can I plant it out in my new flower bed--or would it work better in a pot?/ and what is the height difference between the dbl purple daturna and the white daturna.
Since all I can do is set here, I thought I would plot out my spring planting plans--so I can figure how much I can do and how much I will need help with.
The plan is to get my DD's & SIL's to make my new flowergarden a bit wider (2 feet) and then plant some if not all the various sees I have gotten form you all this last fall--especially the DBL Purple Daturna and Love Lies Bleeding (got it from mark) so now the my questions will begin--sorry---

Welllllll The seeds I started from Lynne last year that plant got about 14" high,, and bushy,, same with the white datura' BUT the plant I got from a co-worker was already a good 10" when I got it,, ended up being about 30 inches highand had more sun in a different area,,, the seeds was in more shade tho,,,,, this year I'm going to sow them where they will get more sun,, the taller one had more sun,, and I will feed them more once they get growing good,, This will be my second spring with them soo I'm still learning too!

How did I miss this post??? Those are terrific pictures of a beautiful flower! And I can't believe it's blooming on such a short stem! Mine took 3 years of growing and only then did I get about 3 flowers but when the plant was over 3 feet tall!
After it got it's 4-6 leaves I kinda sorta dug it up and kinda sorta mixed in my compost with the soil surrounding the roots and watered with super thrive especially because I disturbed such young roots,, a couple of weeks later I started feeding it Fish emulsion once every week for about 5-6 weeks them went to bloom start... I use fish emulsion on all brugs and daturas!

these are the seeds you sent me back, it took for ever for them to come up I had almost given up on them! Once they got their set of true leaves it really grew fast!!!!!! There are lots of buds on here ,, Sorry I didn't get a clear picture of them all some are tiny yet but sure are there,,,,,, I'm keeping fingers crossed it will bloom double like last year,,,,, You will get the first seeds off these!!!!!!!! thank you for sending some of the seeds back,,,, that'll teach me to send all my seeds out and forget about myself for the next spring,,
I will keep this updated to see how it blooms the biggest one shouldn't take maybe a week now, give or take a couple of days,,,,, I'm sooooo excited!!

Yep same soft leaves,,,, as your mystery,, I'm thinking your mystery is a 'Night shade" variety, I'll get with you on your mystery plant in your thread about it, yeah we need a good clear picture of it , the flower and the whole plant too!
Me either on larger scale, if I had MY way there would be NO backyard to mow,, there would only be walking paths and flowers!
