have anyone ever heard of using an asprin in water to help root a plant

nope. that's a new one on me. i have heard about putting one in to help preserve cut flowers.

That sounds vaguely familiar. Although it may have just been for flowers. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else has heard of it.

Aspirin probably helps cuttings not so much like a rooting hormone but probably as antiseptic to kill pathogens...due to the presence of acetylsalicylic acid; the same way some gardeners use aspirin to preserve/prolong cut flowers.

It seems to work for flowers - when I worked in a florist's shop years ago, the boss had us pour dry cleanser (ajax) into the vases before putting the cut flowers in them.

Anything with acid is supposed to be good for opening the stems.

Soooo . . . I guess it would work with rooting from cuttings. Never tried it.

i was just asking cause this elderly lady told me that it would help to grow the plants i do not know
