Those are some great looking mators! How does that purple calabash taste? I've got a weak spot of purple tomatoes, especially purple heirloom tomatoes.

Christina - it's sooooooooooooooo good to see you here!!! Your tomatoes look wonderful! They are making my mouth water for one, and I don't have any in the house, nor any ripe on the plants yet! Enjoy a few for me, ok?!?

Which did you like best? Yummy!!!! Now I'm craving salad. I wanted some Stupice this year, I heard they were delicious, but non of the seeds I got germinated. . The ones that have ripened to date are the Brandywine. It will be my first year trying purple ones. Hope to have a nice mix like that.

Hi Everyone! It's great to see all of you! Thanks so much for the compliments! As far as flavour...let's see. Black Krim has a slightly smokey, salty taste...very juicy...very delicious!! Purple Calabash is extremely rich, very concentrated tomato flavour that just goes "Bam!" in your mouth! The Big Rainbow is sooo different. It's very sweet and honestly, it tastes more like a peach than a tomato. I wish all of you could try it. Aunt Ruby's German Green is sweet and tangy at the same time..does that make sense? Very nice flavour. Stupice and Moneymaker taste very similar. If I didn't know which one I was eating, I could never tell the difference between the two. Both very juicy, great tomato flavour. Oxheart are very sweet, very meaty fruits...great for salsas and sauces. Most I'm sure are familiar with Brandywine..very bright, tangy flavour! Cancogirl...am I reading right that you're growing Purple Brandywine? I've never heard of that? Where did u get your Stupice seeds? If u need more, just lemme' know, more than happy to share.

Great. Now I have another tomato to put on my 2008 grow list. Purple calabash here I come! My list keeps growing, despite efforts to keep it down. Thanks for sharing your pics and info!

Sorry about the confusion Christina, I guess I was trying to say too much into too little a phrase. The Brandywine I started indoors very early in the year are the only ones to have ripened so far (but I started them in December) and they are the Red Brandywine. What I meant by "it's my first year growing purple ones", is that I have only ever tried red tomatoes before, but I now have Black Krim as well growing and, Paul Robeson and Purple Russian, but I am having to wait on taste for those. Now I really can't wait for my Black Krim to be ready, I've heard wonders about it. If you can keep me in mind for when you have Stupice seeds I'd love a few thanks.
