So Mark was super nice today and bought me one of these hoses, I'd wanted one forever because the other one is too big and heavy to drag around the yard each night--it takes forever, wears me out, and I can never get it coiled back up.
Sooooo, we went to Ollies Bargain Outlet and they had a 50 ft coil hose for 9.99!
I almost bought one off QVC the other day for $22 for a 40 ft one....so glad I didn't!
I tried it out and it's nice and light and I don't have to worry about coiling it up---anyone else have one? Opinions?
I have two, and if you're using them on a black top, cement, driveway or a patio, they work awesome..
Try dragging those around on grass, or over obsticals, fences', toys.. they s#ck!!!!
They get caught up on things, don't go very far, and if you don't put them back like onto a stick, after awhile, they go allllllllll willy~nilly... left and right, and kink on it's self...
On mothers' side with the smooth black top driveway, they work nice.. nothing to catch on, and when you let it go down on the ground, it does coil back up..
But around the corner and over her hand railing from the spigot, it catches on everything again...
I'm on the fence with them!!!!

When I go across the pond way I'll just walk it back, it'll still sure beat having to drag that heavy hose back.........I have it attached to a long black hose, so I can uncoil that a little off the rack and it gives me extra reach.
And the price was fantastic, considering that on QVC or maybe it was HSN that they were $22.
My neighbor has had one for a few years and I've been telling Mark for ages that I need one of them. I guess I could have Mark build me a thing to store it on thru the summer to keep it coiled.
I'll give ya my 2 cents on how I liked it at the end of the summer! :)
Besides obstacles, the other problem is that you have to hold them in place. You can't set it down to fill the pond, say, and turn your back and pull a few weeds while the hose is doing it's thing. I find they have too much resistance for my arthritic hands. i get awfully tired of the "pull" all of the time. I use them when I'm caring for a friend's yard while they travel. I always threaten to bring my own.

Or if you're tryin' to reach over the back of your garden, and yet all tanlged up in plants...
I do use mine for the watering in the winter time in the basement.. All of my other hose's are quite long, and so, those two short one's fill the ticket nicely.. And all my plants are in one big square, so I use them for that..

My hubby put 3 of those springy hoses in my greenhouse and I just love them. He set it up so that the pipes run across the top and the hose hangs down and out of my way. I hated it when I had to walk all over the hose in the greenhouse.
Loz I bought the 9.99 ones too and soon had to change the fronts where they started to leak. But I still love them.
Guess there are different kinds of ways to use these things.

Rosepetal, That's how my hose hangs in the basement in the winter when I use them to water. From a top pipe.. And they're not long enough to get in my way doing/using them that way...
I like it. I found mine at big lots for 9.99 and since I need more than the 50' I brought two. When I am filling the pond I put one of the ornaments I have around the pond and it stays in place.
I used it all summer mine does not pull back maybe because it is cheaper than what you all have.
