I had bought a bunch of bags of gladiola bulbs on clearance late spring - 15 bulbs for 75 cents, and planted 1/2 of them here, and half at my parents' house. Mine are just now coming into bloom. I'm not all that thrilled with this yellow - the picture on the bags was much more vibrant - but it's not the worst flower I've ever seen... And here is the only pink one that has a bloom stalk, about to open any day now if we ever get to see the sun again - it's been cloudy and rainy for 6 days now! Anyone else still have these flowers blooming to share here?

Very nice pics, I haven't planted them in years. I remember a time when I used to wait for them to come up in spring and gave up replanting, little did I know they needed to be lifted and replanted every year in my zone

I just bought some seeds from Silverhill for three native southern African fall growing species. My father grew and loved the garden hybrids/cultivars/whatevers. He always had the pink ones, too. I hope it gets sunny enough for yours to open, Lynne. I know what you mean about it being too cloudy for the blossoms recently. I have an echinopsis hybrid blooming for the first time. It put out the flower stalk on my windowsill where it lives, but wouldn't open it until I put it under lights!
May God bless the WHOLE world!

I'll have to look silverhill up.........Thx I have a bag of blues I planted later, they are still sprouting and half the bag is sprouting later. no bloom stalks yet.I think I said sometime after sept 17th.I have a pink finishing up blooming was on its last flower yesterday. I grew a good yellow this year.Jacksonville gold (search back forum for gladiolus post in here and in propagation)I'd share a yellow, but was some red with them so don't know which is which now,but can next year...but a good yellow is jacksonville gold. I get to leave mine in ground.
I will age ungracefully until I become an old woman in a small garden..doing whatever the Hell I want!

The ones at the community garden here (mostly white) have done blooming, and so are most of the ones I see, the church alter flower arrangements used white glads, so that must mean they are just about the peak blooming time (though I though it was a few weeks ago)

Thanks Tammy! It's just that I was expecting something much brighter and sunnier if you know what I mean. This is the pink one finally in full bloom - now that's a color I love! Just wish more of them made it - this is the only one and it's very droopy.

so pretty. I have some pretty ones that Cindy sent me. They may not bloom this year - too dry.
