when the buds are on the camillias. I noticed the buds yesterday. I was concerned the drought would keep the camillias from blooming this winter. Happy to say that didn't happen.
Can't wait to see pictures, Sheri - those flowers are sooooo pretty!
I know it's fall, when I give in and buy mums once again, even though each year I swear I'm not going to put money into them again! Got 3 nice pink plants full of buds today at Home Depot!
It's spring here & we've already had 29C (85F) temps, a little cooler today though with some welcome rain. Saw some camellia plants (in flower!!) for sale yesterday, don't know how well they would grow in our climate & at this time of the year. I know very little about growing them but I did think they needed a cooler climate than ours. Happy days to you all.
Awww Barb I wish it did........it's a very small bush---I bought it teeny tiny a few years ago and it's not grown much since then. But it does flower beautifully each fall!
Yes I am a fan of cold weather......When it snows I tear up the farm in my 4 wheelers.....HD and I do silly things....... Mostly me..........Like getting the 4 wheel drive stuck and walking home.. ha ha Pansies........ Mine bloomed all summer and still are.......They never did that before.. They love the shade here.......It is october and hot but ......Who cares?
I know it is fall here becasue of migrating birds.
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
I don't cut my knees in the fall because that's when I quit shaving.
Are you trying to tell us you don't shave in the autumn and winter? But what about wearing dresses and skirts?

I love fall and winter because I cut back on the leg shaving, I don't totally quit or anything but it's not every other day like it is in the summer---thankfully.
Oh, my goodness!!! Snow on a camellia (tree?)!!!!! All this talk about snow etc makes me feel quite shivery all over. Haven't even seen a frost for more than 20yrs & that was a very mild once off. Brrrrr. Have to travel & pay through the nose to have a snow experience. Have to admire the gardening expertise required to keep plants going during colder weather. Happy gardening etc to you all.
Don't get so excited........That was an old photo.. Different parts of the USA don't ever get snow........Others freeze............. I get snow about November /december.........We pay thru the nose for Heating. Nov to april our furnaces get stuffed with dollars.
So enjoy you life.....We cant stand it above 80......We feel dead.
We heat with natural gas and it's SOOOO expensive. I sit here and freeze to death in the winter....I'm a scrooge and I keep the heat on about 63 unless we get company. I don't like it too hot in here anyway---that dry heat makes me feel like I can't breathe sometimes. Gas bills were still about $200 a month last year--hard to believe when we freeze all winter.
Your heat is including water tho......More hot baths and clothes washing......Higher the bill. Were in a rural area..........Are you in a Borough? It is more expensive in those/
Water is in there yep, but we don't bathe or wash clothes anymore in the winter than we do in the summer. I don't cook with gas like my mom does and their house is huge and their bills aren't much more than mine. Makes me mad to pay so much just for heat.
Last year we bought some electric heaters to help out. I run one in the bedroom for a while before we go to sleep so I don't have to turn the heat on upstairs.
