When I cleaned out the window boxes, I found some pretty big potatoes from the sweet potato vine I had growing in them. Can I save the potato and use them to start next years plants? How should I store them for the winter?

I did last year, I just stored them in a box in my cool basement.

i just left the planter the vine was in on top of the fridge for the winter. never watered it either (plain forgot to what with the broken foot and then being really sick).

in the spring when i took the planter down to put something new in it, there was new growth popping up - so i watered it and put it outside...darn thing grew like crazy.

it's great to find a surprise isn't it.

ND, I looked at that picture of your greenhouse. It's great.

Some of the potatoes are pretty big. Can you cut them to plant them or do I have to plant them whole? I have always bought the plants already started in the spring but am kind of excited to grow the vines from the potato roots I got this year.
