From the last CH, John is doing well today. He had a transfusion on Monday and he always feel better after. This could be a way of life now. Hoping for some answers from Drs soon. Thank you for asking.

I'm back - had a phonecall.

Bill - you can sew on all my buttons too, please - it's not a task I enjoy and I put it off til I absolutely need the item!

I'm so glad you were a bus driver who enjoyed the kids and the job!
We have so many here who dislike the kids that they make the trip miserable for them. Amy really hates when she has to take the bus home. And most of them are on the phone nowadays - very unsafe!!!

Tina - I'm not having to count stitches on this scarf, thankfully!
I did make some fun fur scarves when the stuff first came out, but that was a few years ago now, and I'm less patient now than then!

I'm glad John is feeling better today - wish they would find out what is causing this. When did you say he is swallowing the camera?

Good Morning Everyone....
Bill you can have my buttons too if you like- that is one task that is getting to be hard for my hands.. especially when it is cold... [color:#FF0000]HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TAMARA
Hope it is a good day for you!
I got up again in the dark and came to Carrie's she is working early again today- which is nice for her but getting to be problem for me- for some reason where we live doesn't have many street lights and I don't see in the dark very well- think I will have to have hubby bring me from now on when it is dark if I have to come here--- shouldn't drive in the dark anymore...
I got 2 of the boys off to school already- and Joe is taking Joseph his lunch he forgot too... will get Derek up soon if he doesn't wake up on his own soon... he is always the last one up and last one to go to sleep... a night owl.
It's chilly this morning but supposed to warm up nicely to the 70's - hope to get my flower beds ready for winter today-- should be warm enogh for me by this afternoon...
Well off to change Wiggle DVD's for Nicoli- he wants the Christmas one.... LOL!

OK, I'm not Shirley but I do have a request. Can you put the camera on Lola for a few minutes today? Let me know if you do. I miss my baby sister.

I'm sure Mommy will make you keep the camera on her while she's gone. She'll want to check in on her every 3 minutes.

I'm sorta here because I am sorta awake.

I went back to bed after Maxi left for school and slept a good hour or so before the phone started ringing off the wall. Now my girl is here and she made coffee first thing! So I'm having that and trying to wake up the rest of the way in-between doing chores while she's been tackling the kitchen. We're going to throw me in the shower next. After the rotten night's sleep I had, I just don't feel like doing ANYTHING!

A mountain of homework is still waiting for me, too.

We are not actively raining here but we are overcast after this morning's rain. It is very cold out as well.

I gotta figure out something for lunch but nothing sounds particularly good. I hate when that happens!

I'm working on the laundry, having some hot tea and waiting for Maxi to get home. Today is his late day because of student council.

Tomorrow he was scheduled to have his every-three-year scholastic evaluation but I spent a long time on the phone with the psychologist who always does it at the school. Maxi had a complete work up last spring someplace else, so he doesn't need to sit through all those tests again! I am going to send her a copy of that report with Maxi tomorrow so she'll have it in her files and if there is anything she'd like to look at more closely, she'll have a better starting point. There's no reason to put Maxi through all of that again so soon. Three more years is quite soon enough.

We are having spaghetti tonight... I might make an alfredo sauce for it because we both like that and I'm not supposed to eat much tomatoe sauce or fresh tomatoes for that matter.

My homework is still waiting though I did take the notebook out and read the instructions!

I'm just getting here. I spent the morning in urgent care, radiology and then casting. No not with John. With Ted. He couldn't walk this morning on his left leg. His kneecap had slipped almost all the way to the outside of his leg.
The ortho Dr. hadn't ever seen anything like it. No trauma. It is just that he went to bed and his kneecap fell off (sorta) while he was sleeping. He has a brace on and will have physical therapy to try to strengthen the muscles and tendons that hold on his patellas (kneecaps). I guess the other one is weak as well.
This is my very healthy son. He was a wonderful and cheerful patient. He did not like the x-ray machine. He recognized it as the dreaded camera. Keeping this brace on him has proven to be difficult. But with it on he can walk. And walking is good for him.
I am very tired.

It hurt me to look at it. Have you seen those videos of a skateboarder or something with a finger bent at a weird angle at a joint? And it makes you cringe just to look? Ted's knee looked like that. But he was cheerful and apparently it only hurt when he tried to straighten out his leg and/or put weight on it. He is walking just fine now with a slight limp and I think the limp is from the brace.
Now that it is better I've been laughing about his kneecap just falling like that. It is kind of like a cartoon in the after effects.
But it was a little stressful at the time.

Ouch! Bill can relate to that...he broke his leg backwards at the knee. boohoo
teach Actually it wasn't a break, I tore both "anterior collateral ligaments" and my knee "fully hyperextended rearward"
... picture a peacocks knee.... that was me! I no longer have ANY cartilage in my right knee, and quarter sized chunks of meniscus cartilage periodically flake off the bone in my left and float through the joint. Now both knees tend to bend backwards if I happen to step on or in something.....
Wanna race to the end of the driveway? lol
My spine is kinda degenerating in the same way... I used to be almost 3 inches taller! Sooner or later I will probably have to look UP at Cindy! egad

Thank you Merme. Ted and I hugged all through the waiting rooms today. He was primarily happy and cheerful. He had never ridden in a wheel chair before but he has helped push several at his school. He loved riding in the elevators which we did a lot of today. It was four hours from beginning to end which is good time for urgent care. We got there at 7:30 but had to wait until 9:00 to see someone (hence the elevator rides). We were out by 11:30.
He will be getting lot's of hugs.

Thank you for that explanation, Bill. I am wincing for you just reading it.
Ted didn't tear any ligaments. There was no trauma. His ligaments are just so loose that the patella just flopped around to the side of his joint. It was only painful when he extended his leg or put weight on it but not enough to cry over, just wince. It appears it is a weakness of his own and may happen again with either knee. Physical therapy is the answer here. At least I hope anyway. Surgery to tighten would cause so much mental trauma to him. He would never understand any explanations.

Merme
In 1985, while working as an insulator on a hotel, a 240# bale of insulation fell from the second story onto my punkin head, breaking my neck, rupturing 2 cervical discs and causing 5 lumbar discs to bulge. Two and a half years later, my headache finally went away so I started driving the big yellow busses. In 1993, while heading to my bus for the morning run, I slipped on ice and my knee "peacocked". L&I daudled around and wouldn't authorize the surgery that could have fixed me for several months so I mostly got around using my left leg (right side was immobilized) One day the old left side peacocked on me. 3 surgeries on the right, 2 on the left. They say that someday I will go bionic, but they will never operate on me again! uhuhh With no knees, my hips are failing.
There is a bright side though! I always look down where each foot is going to step and because of that I have found many tiny, rare flowers and plants that very few people will ever see in a lifetime! thumbup I can still do everything I used to do, but it takes a lot longer to get stuff done... Sometimes the pain makes me a lil cranky tho... thats why ya should never poke bears and grouchy old farts! Triss diagnosed my pain induced crankies as me being bi-polar and spread that rumor to many members here, which is why Triss is no longer welcome here. (the secret no one knew, but everyone wondered about til right now) I am not bi-polar, but I think she is a friggin psycho! rspb

Triss diagnosed my pain induced crankies as me being bi-polar and spread that rumor to many members here, which is why Triss is no longer welcome here. (the secret no one knew, but everyone wondered about til right now) I am not bi-polar, but I think she is a friggin psycho!))
