On the farm where I lived as a kid, we also had a Japanese Maple that looked very different than the one in Afgrey's photo. Ours was a deep purple color and had an almost willowy quality. It grew in front of our house and people often stopped by to ask my mother if they could purchase it. She never would sell it because it was so very beautiful.

But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Our farm was in Pennsylvania, barb. I posted a photo of it in a thread called something like "Where We Grew Up" hoping others would post photos of their childhood homes.

We lived about an hour north of Philadephia, in the area not far from where Washington Crossed the Delaware.
I'd been visiting Maine on vacations for many years. When my EX and I grew tired of living in Cincinnati because of its high crime rate and distance from the ocean, we moved here. Maxi was born here... the first Mainer of the family.
I will find that thread for you.

Can't blame one for leaving Cincinnati.....My sister lived in Cleveland for 42 or more years and I spent a bit of time seeing her there..But it wasnt even safe to go outside on the street at nite. Her man died and she is back here again..5 years. Philly is on the Eastern part of Pa. I have families in that area...... Bet Maine is nice with all the water........Do you go boating also?

Yes, we are on or in the water all the time. When I was a teen I moved to the coast of NJ and spent many years traveling up and down the eastern seaboard. Got to Ohio almost by accident and hated it there.
Your part of PA is quite wonderful! We've made the drive across the PA turnpike many times from Philadelphia straight across and on into Wheeling and then Ohio.

Finally fall color in New Hampshire. this Maple is 100 years old and is at the end of the famous Kancamagus Highway. It gets it picture taken zillions of time by the leaf peepers that come off the highway. ![[Linked Image]](http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff184/ladyslipper_photo/DSC_0021.jpg)

We have similar wind warnings for tomorrow. I always end up with leaves from next door. I know they are from next door because I don't have any sycamores around me. Those things just don't want to break down. Tough leaves.
