I walked over to Dads and mom was on the phone and guess what?
She changed her tickets...now instead of the 30th of Nov. she'll be home the 16th of Nov....in time for Thanksgiving and Black Friday!
She sounds really down of course.... but this news made my YEAR!!! I was depressed that she wouldn't be here and I miss her....yes I'm 31 and I'm a mommys girl.... She's my best friend....other than Mark of course. :ding: And when you live across the street from each other it's hard when the other one leaves.
When we left to go to WA state mom cried when we left......yeah, we're tied at the hip.....
Woohoooo, I'm excited though. And I'll do my best to cheer her up when she's home.
YAY! Loz, it is Wonderful that Faye is coming home sooner than expected! It will be good to have you all together for the holidays...
Merme
We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
.... what better way to cheer a shopper up than to go shopping on Black Friday Huh???
She could cheer me up if she cooked Thanksgiving dinner for her mom.
I think it would Cheer us ALL up IF You cooked Thanksgiving Dinner Cindy,, And write a Thread on the step By step of stuffing the turkey! ... What cha' think Loz a little Turkey stuffing lesson from Cindy would give your Mom a laugh and then go shopping!!
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
If Loz cooks Thanksgiving dinner...I will cook Thanksgiving dinner in front of the webcam!
Get to planning that menu Loz ,, Pm me!! Between me and your Mom we'll come up with an easy menu,, Cuz this I gotta see ,, I only get Thanksgiving Day off from work ,, what a great entertaining day that would be!!

Nana isn't coming home with mom---she's doing as well as can be expected I guess....mom did say that Nana went out and got her hair set the other day---first time she's been out since Grandad passed.
Cindy you're lucky!
Sorry guys I can't cook.....mom will be cooking.....if she wouldn't have came home early I'd have cooked.
But Cindylou, don't you want to feed your man a good dinner on Turkey Day???? You could could and invite Shaun and his woman over and everything!
Yeah...deep down I didn't think Nana would leave her home. Mom sounded so down on the phone, BUT she should at least enjoy black friday a little bit....Dad saved money up for her!
My dad is totally the best! He misses mom so much. :ding: It's hard on him at his age for mom to just go away--I've been doing the laundry and stuff because he doesn't know how....mom always does it. It's just the generation where the wife does all of that stuff.
that's awesome loz, but you know, i told you i'd walk you through the whole turkey thing... you and your mom could do it together so you could learn how!
Loz I am so glad your mom will be home. Goody for Loz !!!
And yes, your mom will cook now----- and/but I agree you should cook with her--so she can teach you. It would be such a great memory. And then you could cook like mum !!!
You & she are so very lucky to be so close.

I was shy as a girl and the baby of the family so I was never far from my mum.
I should take "turkey notes" this year. She makes mini minced meat pies each year at christmas.....like 6 dozen of them and one year I wrote down her recipe as I watched her and I can't find my notes, so I guess I need to do that again this year.
yep and, you need to put them in a brightly colored notebook for your kitchen. you won't regret it. i'm sooooooo glad i got to learn how momma made things, but i missed learning some of granny's stuff
Homemade tarts---wow Loz---that is so nice of your mom---
yep--Jiffy you are right---I do not have any of my paternal grandmother's recipes.--and she was a weonderful cook. I do have several of my maternal grandmothers recipes. (In their own book as you say)--recently I printed several of my MIL's recipes and sent them to all of her grandchilderen--so they will have them (they are all married)
I make my homemade cookbooks with colorful binders and sheet protectors. I copy the recipes off on my computer and print them. thees sheets fit nicely into the sheet protectors---
I also submitted many of the family recipes to be part of school cookbooks & now they are even easier to access.---
