I walked over to Dads and mom was on the phone and guess what?

She changed her tickets...now instead of the 30th of Nov. she'll be home the 16th of Nov....in time for Thanksgiving and Black Friday! clap

She sounds really down of course.... tears but this news made my YEAR!!! I was depressed that she wouldn't be here and I miss her....yes I'm 31 and I'm a mommys girl.... lol She's my best friend....other than Mark of course. :ding: And when you live across the street from each other it's hard when the other one leaves.

When we left to go to WA state mom cried when we left......yeah, we're tied at the hip..... lol

Woohoooo, I'm excited though. And I'll do my best to cheer her up when she's home.

That is cool, Loz, that she will be home for Thanksgiving. We do miss her around here. How is your grandmother holding up? How are you holding up?

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

A turkey dinner is one of the easiest things I know how to cook, Loz. A big splash with a few simple ingredients. Go for it.

Cindy you're lucky! lol

Sorry guys I can't cook.....mom will be cooking.....if she wouldn't have came home early I'd have cooked.

But Cindylou, don't you want to feed your man a good dinner on Turkey Day???? grin You could could and invite Shaun and his woman over and everything! lol

My dad is totally the best! thumbup He misses mom so much. :ding: It's hard on him at his age for mom to just go away--I've been doing the laundry and stuff because he doesn't know how....mom always does it. It's just the generation where the wife does all of that stuff.

Loz I am so glad your mom will be home. Goody for Loz !!! bop

And yes, your mom will cook now----- and/but I agree you should cook with her--so she can teach you. It would be such a great memory. And then you could cook like mum !!!

You & she are so very lucky to be so close.

I was shy as a girl and the baby of the family so I was never far from my mum. thumbup

I should take "turkey notes" this year. She makes mini minced meat pies each year at christmas.....like 6 dozen of them and one year I wrote down her recipe as I watched her and I can't find my notes, so I guess I need to do that again this year. thumbup

Homemade tarts---wow Loz---that is so nice of your mom---

yep--Jiffy you are right---I do not have any of my paternal grandmother's recipes.--and she was a weonderful cook. I do have several of my maternal grandmothers recipes. (In their own book as you say)--recently I printed several of my MIL's recipes and sent them to all of her grandchilderen--so they will have them (they are all married)

I make my homemade cookbooks with colorful binders and sheet protectors. I copy the recipes off on my computer and print them. thees sheets fit nicely into the sheet protectors---

I also submitted many of the family recipes to be part of school cookbooks & now they are even easier to access.---
