Anyone tried the ugli fruit?I see them in the grocer.I'm tempted to try one.I know they are from jamicia.and that they are ripened on tree then picked& shipped so even if are green,yellow green,orangey green....they are actually ripe& rannge in size from 4 in-6 in.

Nope, I haven't tried them. THey are a wee-bit expensive for my budget. Plus, I'm not sure of how something called Ugli would taste. lol

Very interesting! I've never heard of Ugli Fruit before. Never even seen it in the grocery store!

It's not pretty but not exactly ugli either..don't know why they call it that.

So here's info I found on the Ugli Fruit.

Description
Ugli fruit is created by crossing a grapefruit with an orange or tangerine. It is grown in Jamaica and Florida.

Availability
Ugli fruit is available in the winter and early spring.

Shopping
Choose heavy ugli fruit that gives slightly to pressure.

Storage
Once ripe refrigerate ugli fruit for up to a week.

You can find ugli fruit in ethnic grocers or large super markets.They taste better than they look.Its used alot by people I know from south america.I know alot of jockies from down there.

I have never eaten ugli fruit but here people put it in their houses to keep spiders and such out! Anybody else heard of that?

It's some of the best citrus I've ever tasted..lol Around here it is called Uniq Fruit...I just wish I could grow it in my yard.
