My daughter has been taking lessons from the same flute teacher for 8 years now. Her teacher plays in the adult county symphonic orchestra as first flute, and sometimes needs someone to fill in as second flute if the regular cannot be there. She has asked Amy to fill in again this time.

We have quite a few famous people who live in our county, as we are only a 40 minute drive to NYC, and it's very pretty in some spots here. It always amazes me to find out yet another person lives nearby.

This concert will feature the music of David Shire , who will also be conducting most of the concert. I wasn't familiar with his name, but in looking him up on the "net" I was very surprised to read about all his accomplishments. Plus the fact that he was married to Talia Shire (Sylvester Stallone's wife in the Rocky movies!), and is now married to Didi Conn (Frenchie in the movie Grease, and she was on Shining Time Station, etc). I hope she's at the concert - I'd like to see her in person - she has such a high pitched childish voice for someone 2 years older than I!

Amy says the concert is all showtunes, so it sounds like a nice afternoon out - it will be next Sunday at the community college just up the road.

gosh. Talia is also related to Nicholas Cage somehow and Francis Ford Copolla. How old is Amy?

Talia is Francis Ford Copolla's sister apparently, and Nicholas Cage is their nephew on his father's side - his real name is Nicholas Kim Copolla!!!

Amy is 17, and a senior in high school.

A few years ago, she played with her flute teacher in this orchestra when the great jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli was featured. My husband was extremely excited about that one.

Wellllllllllllll... the concert has been cancelled.
They are predicting a very messy night tonight into tomorrow, so they've cancelled it in advance. They are hoping to do it in February - I hope so!

Oh, That is too bad, Lynne. But your weather is on the top of our news here. So not unexpected. I hope they can get it done in Feb.

OH Lynne---I am so sorry that you will have to wait until February for Amy to have her big night--
BUT I am so very proud of her and her accomplishments. You are a very lucky mom, & your husband is a very lucky dad.-- Congratulations to all of you!!!!

The positive thing is---the better the weather, the more people there will be at the concert to hear Amy play and that is a good thing !!!
