Does anyone know why my rhododendron will not bloom? I'ts my first one and it had gorgeous blooms when I purchased but nothing cameup this summer. I thought I did everything right.

Any ideas?

My first thought would be poor soil. Did you fertilize it?

Probably the pruning. These set buds right after they bloom and if you prune after that you cut off the next years flowers. Guess how I know lol...yup I did it.

Rhodendren.......I am the only person in the world who can't even make a a Rhod. grow......Everyone I have planted, died dead for me.......Have no idea why.
They grow for all of my neighbors......However I have One azalea, which puts on a lovely show to replace that one.
Golden flame .......I think is the name.

The more Sun the better. Do not prune until AFTER flowering. Check the soil PH, they are acid liking plants. Too high a PH may be an issue.


My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
