My gift Amaryllis has just started to bloom today.
It was a present from a good buddy.

It looks like velvet I think..I thanked her .

Oh my, that is beautiful Barb.

Exactly when do you plant it to bloom this time of year. I've seen the kits in the store but have never bought one.

Wow! That's gorgeous. I've never seen one that shade of velvety red before. They usually take about 4 to 5 weeks to bloom from time of planting, depending on how much it had started to grow when planted. Often they have already started to grow some in the box when you get them.

Carol, I bought a red lion from the store and its growing...we'll just have to wait and see

Barb that is a spectacular colour! I love the rich red colour. I have a white one in bloom but it only has one flower and another small bud

Thanks Kenny,

I was just reading about them on here.. THey claim they are hard to rebloom.
Years ago I had one and made it rebloom.2 times only.

THey say the bigger the bulb the more blooms......I hope I can make it survive.
They like a crowded pot it says. With just the shoulders sticking out.
