Cone flowers are a perennial and should be fine. In the spring they will come back and bloom again.

I live in an area where it reaches -40*C at times in winter and those coneflowers pop up in spring with a vengence...in fact they are everywhere.

Heavens no, they should be fine--and if, for some strange reason, they do NOT come back--let me know and I will send you some seed from my Purple Coneflowers- mine have been living for 12 years---2-3 years at this house and the rest at my previous home--

Do you guys think I could get these to grow in our fields? Like where we don't mow.. around our horse riding arena and such?? Wouldn't that be beautiful?? I have purple, yellow, and a salmon/coral color.. the yellow and coral ones I bought as NEW last summer.. This year I need to save some seeds and try to get them to grow around our property.. that would be just too cool!

They have always seemed hardy to me---I would plant them where ever you want them--and I agree it would be beautiful to have them in the fields---Brecks even has a green variety, if you would be interested--very nice--- I would love to do all the varieties as well--but I don't know how much i can push--I have caused DH a great amount of trimming as it is---

yea good way to look at it I think--but him, he remembers cutting a big clear clean rectangle--& now he trims around trees, bushes, flower beds & my garden--- But hey--I am happy--- (& I may do as you suggest)

Pinkhourse--I will try but I really do not think he is gonna buy it---at one time a 'zoom zoom' with the rider was all that was needed--NOW he has so much trimming with the push mower-----(mainly because of my little 'additions'.)
But as my mommy says--it doesn't hurt to ask !!!

Yeah, I know what you are saying. My husband gets irritated with me sometimes too when I want to add more plantings around the yard.. I just try to put stuff strategically so it helps him a bit instead of hindering him by causing him more work.
Good luck!
I can't wait till my new coneflowers bloom this summer.. I am anxious to see that varieties I have.. as I can't fully remember.

I irritate myself...I keep planting and dividing then later realize how hard it is to mow around everything.
I only have pink coneflowers and they multiply like crazy.

I never noticed til a couple years ago that almost everything I had planted was yellow and orange, so I've been trying to add more color to my yard and alot of the same flowers do come in different colors.

OK ladies--apparently I need to make myself a Coneflower garden--so please if either of you have any Pink or yellow seeds I would be so h appy to have some. All I would have to swap that I can say right now would be purple coneflower and red sage salvia.
