Betty, your bird is a male Eastern Towhee; Julie is right, although in Julie's area they don't have the Eastern, they have the Spotted Towhee,which is ALMOST identical to the Eastern with only SLIGHT differences. Towhees (pronounced Toe-hee) are large members of the Sparrow family. Their song is, "Drink-Your-Tea", where the phrase "Tea" is long, drawn-out, and quavery.
