Well we did as you all know, and it was horrible....gutted and messy and stripped down to studs....I'm glad that it's over and done with. It's quite an ordeal. The end result is nice though.

Hi Carol!

Our house definately needs a remodel...not just the kitchen. And once I get old enough to win the lottery, my parents are going to have a new house...forget about the one we're in now lol they can plan their own kitchen any way they like!

If you get board--you could come "remodel" my cupboards---
and perhaps other areas of my home could be 'remodeled' too why

I would love to remodel my kitchen but alas like the rest I will have to wait for it if it is ever done. boohoo

We just finished remodeling our bathroom this summer and it was a really tough job. We are so happy it is over and done now. It was well worth the headache and cost though. touched

We are planning on putting a dishwasher in this spring though. I have never had one and really really want one now. grin

Wow ....Piece by piece.......took most of the summer.. But yes we are really enjoying it.

Now my kitchen..........Is another thing.. ha ha ha

I wanted to move my whole kitchen into the living room. I didn't want to move the current cabinets. They're junk. Counters are shot. We do not use the living room except to put the Christmas tree in once a year. We have talked about it for a few years but now that John is ill, it probably won't happen.

I'M sorry Jonii13........

Life isnt always easy........Most people would pass up a house like I live in.
It is not modern at all........but we like it.

Every one wants a new one.......However I see so many spoiled families come out of the new houses......
I know your a hard worker and having a sick man is no fun......But one day the man above will pay you in full......

I know now, that little granddaughter has brought more happiness to both sides of the families, then any money could buy......I dont get to baby sit, but we do get so happy when we can play with Haley......

Just hang in there.......Something good will happen.

Well said Barb......one day Tina, maybe you'll get to do it! thumbup Life is never easy---I really wish it were though.

Our house is old too Barb, built in 1890 or something like that.....Newer houses are okay, but they are put up so quickly and sometimes so cheaply....just not built like the old ones were.

You got that right LOZ........

Mine has 9 rooms , attic and basement.........
Closet in all rooms except the bath. But the hallway has a large closet next to the bath.....One great thing about it ......
Hardwood floors 3 rooms downstairs and stairway, is hardwood wrap around. Oak.

Old stone fire place .(Never used) it is in the parlor and I never want a fire there......Dang if I am going to clean after the stupid ashes.......

Al my neighbors have brand new homes..........The kids arent allowed to play inside in the winter ......kick them out.
No one is allowed to bring dirt inside......One kicked the son out cause he got dirty at work.
My house is lived in .......We get dirty lots in our garden and farm.
What good is a new house if no one is allowed to relax?????????????? yikes

You are so right perfect house are not homes.

I remodeled the kitchen and Master Bathroom. Both rooms I helped and hired people for things I could not do. I have been fixing the house up because I am going to sell it so I am sorta forced to do it if I want to sell it for a good price.

The kitchen was the first project it went smooth. The kitchen took me 1 month. Ripped out floor and cabinets. Put in new appliances, cabinets and floor.

Then the bathroom horror story.

Contractor brought appliances whirlpool tub, and vanity, sink, commode. He died. He had a heart attack. There I was jumping over toilet in my living room tub in my dining room etc. 2 months I was trying to find someone to do the work.

I hired contractor #2 he ripped out the old Bathroom. I could see into the kitchen below and into my bedroom on the side. He died. Was in a car accident.`

I could not find any one to finish for three months. They wanted the total job start to finish. Contractor #3. My daughter told them not to look me in the eye I was the Black Widow.

It took me 6 months to get the bathroom finished.

I was starting to get a complex. When the second one said he would be back the next week and when he did not show up my daughter said look in the obituary. I had called him and left messages and he did not return my call.

So just to prove to my daughter she was wrong. I pulled up the Paper obits on the computer and there his name was. I had to call around to find out how he died.

The only good thing if you can try to find good in the situation was I am cheap and never pay anybody until I get the work done. They always think single women are easy. I was burned once...never again. Atleast I did not have to pay double.

It does not hurt me that everyone laughs. It is funny now. It was not funny when it was going on but all my friends call it the Aud incident. When they talk about their bad remodel incidents. haha They all say it was not as bad as the Aud incident so it was a good remodel. tapfoot

Barb I agree with what you are saying--

But you should know---We had a lovely 2 story older home (built in 1914)on 5 acrea but had to leave it becsause of the upkeep it reguired & my DH was woprking a mandatory 60 hrs a week. DH said he was not doing a lot of repair at his age so we bought a newly built one (I am owner #1)
both my DD's wanted older homes--the oldest ened up with a newer one-(1978)- only because her DH didn't want the repair work so soon after buying--(I think his FIL might have talked to him- lol)-my youngest, who is house hunting right now, will not look at a hom that is not an older 2 story style.

(which is a shame because just today the house next door to me just went up for sale) it is 1 year newer than mine is

\ OH MY, I have not heard that comment in a long time.

you see oldest DD said in MY hearing (I want to live in the worden area) BUT my DH made sure that my SIL (who came to him for advice) did not let that happen, by laughingly saying "well, if you move close you know your MIL will be over constantly, don't you??" after the 3rd time I yelled at him for "teasingly saying" that,--he went to the youngest & told her "you do understand that if you moved close to us your mom would not be over all the time don't you??" he had to tell the youngest because the oldest had already said yes to a home that is 30 miles away. DH decided that he had better try to get himself out of the doghouse--- IN that respect it did not work
