i few days ago my gret grandma sent me some ornamental pumkin seeds which she got out of a pumpkin so to see if it would grow i planted it in a small pot and its growing! I need to know how to grow this if i need to take it out of the pot and put it in my yard and build a trellis for it to climb up on or what? so if anyone cna help i would appreciate it...
pleaseee... Betty Crocker aint got nothing on me =)
it can be grown in a pot, depending on the size of the pot. i use 3-5 gallon buckets for pots for my vining plants like that. if you put a trellis (instead of letting it run on the ground, you need to plan for some support for the fruit when the pumpkins start to make. a sling of old panty hose works well.
Hi thank you, but what do you mean making a slig what does that do I havent been gardening by myself for very long im 15 and we moved to a place of our own instead of renting and my parents are letting me run wild because i used to just help my grandparents with theirs im pretty good but i have a lot to learn

ok toposh. we have several younger members here. if you see badplanter or kennyso around, they were your age when they joined.
by a sling, i mean something to support the fruit of the vine. large fruits, like melons, will cause the vine to fall if they get very big. so, if you grow them on a vertical trellis, you have to support them once they set fruit.
myself, i use a horizontal trellis of sorts, just an old window screen propped off the ground for the fruit to sit on instead of on the dirt.
and by fruit, i mean anything a plant produces. pumpkins, squash, watermelons, etc. not all "fruit of the vine" is actually fruit.
oh jiffy i figured out they arent pumkins their ornamental squash lol ive been going round thinking it was pumpkin but when i talked to my grandma she informed they were squash, lol i feel like a idiot...
