Well, I became bored of the same old plants and ordered seeds of some exotic plants (and apparently trees). Anyone have experience with the following? I looked them up on the internet, but I was wondering if anyone had real-life advice...

[list]
[*]Cassia Alata
[*]Weeping Ficus
[*]Jacaranda Mimosifolia
[*]Strelitzia Nicolai

Maybe I am in over my head?

Some of these seeds can be very difficult to germinate. Follow the directions carefully. Any of them can be wonderful house plants until they out grow the house. Keep us informed about how they do for you.

I noticed the directions: what is a propagator? And where do I get seed compost? I guess I am in over my head.

a propagator is simply just a container with a clear plastic dome. you can but don't have to, put the propagator on a heating mat to raise soil temps. seed compost can be replaced by soiless mix. you can start seeds in the potting soil mixes but just not garden soil. using clean soil and pots will lessen the chances of dampning off.

Helping the world one seed at a time

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

The Strelitzia Nicolai seeds have to be planted while they are still fresh. Within 6 months of harvesting. Mine still didn't take and I followed all the directions. Sometimes you just have to cross your fingers.
