Kathy Half the interest of a garden is the constant exercise of the imagination.
They just said on the weather that they are not sure if we'll get a snowstorm out of this anymore - it's been raining here since 9, and if it doesn't change to snow within the next 4 hours, we won't get any - in other words - they just don't know! All that hype - ridiculous!
Wow, I got my fingers slammed in the last CH! Then I saw that nobody had opened a new one, so I went off the forum and just now got back, stinging fingers and all.
Now that I'm all caught up, I have to go.
Things are still up in the air for tomorrow. With the storm that is forecast, we don't know if school will be cancelled. It isn't supposed to get bad til noon, so they may start the day and send the kids home early. But my drivers don't want to commit to taking me to the chaplaincy because one of them will be responsible to come back at 5 to pick me up. So, I'm going to bed now on the off chance that the weather isn't as bad as they are forecasting and Maxi will get off to school and I'll go to town.
If not, I'll see you all tomorrow!

Wow, I go off to clean up my kitchen a bit and take care of my foster dogs and you guys zoom through pages and pages. I caught up in time to say good night.

We've battened down the hatches for the winter storm, it seems. All the schools are closed and so is the airport. The trains and buses are still running for a while this morning but will shut down later in the day. TV is telling us to have our emergency supplies ready, so I think I am heading back to bed and plan on being very snug! The expected 14 inches can pile up as it will.

MY news says the predicted snow is going to MISS much of the NE--but pockets of places like Worcester, MA are getting Lots of snow & it is expected to continue for 4 or 5 hours. Still not a pretty cenerio

The storm is falling fast...steadily for the last three hours. They are saying 2 inches an hour. Because of our concern about losing power, Maxi and I decided to get our showers early, just in case. Sitting by my sliders, looking across the small parking lot, we can't see the road though we know where it is. The snowfall is too thick for visibility and the wind is blowing what is already on the ground.
I'm going to make some coffee and go curl up in bed with a good book. Or two. Or five.

The snow is falling steadily here too, Merme. It's getting real light and fluffy which sometimes is not a good sign. They canceled school here before the first flakes even fell. I think they are predicting 6-10" when all's said and done. I may not go to work tonight, depends.........
Stay safe and warm, Nerme. I hope your power stays on.
I crept out of bed and found that Tina had given me a new name!
Hi Mel ~ I've been tracking this storm via WGME's radar since last night. The thing tthat is interesting to me is that the southern coast is expecting more snow than inland or up north! That is unusual! They are predicting 2 to 4 inches less snow for Portland than for us!
I hope you don't have to go out in it, Mel. It is supposed to be at its worst from 2 PM to 5 PM and then tapering off.
Right now we look like we are inside a Snow Globe that has been shaken up real well.
Maxi is outside shoveling.

I'm here, popping in and out.....What are you up to today Carol?
I am not up to much---I am thinking of looking in all the seed/plant catalogs I have here---I guess I shuld see what kind of cleaning I could do around here--- but that sounds like no fun--- how was your weekend with Athena??
it is cold here but ni snow predicted---and I am glad of it!!

Does Maxi like being out there shoveling? It's probably fun for him. When I was younger I didn't mind shoveling, I think I actually begged to help.
Cleaning is NO fun Carol. Don't do it! I've barely moved off the couch all day. The weekend with Athena went way too fast! It was nice to have her throw herself at me screaming Aunt Loz I missed you! We played a lot, and she's into writing little notes back and forth to each other now since she's learning how to read and write.
It's snowing pretty good out there now, hadn't looked outside for a while--I don't mind some snow since I don't have to go anywhere at all.
Yesterday I bought 7 Christmas presents.... I think I have about 25-30 things now. I'm on the ball.
seed catalogs are great fun, Carol Jean! Not so much the cleaning, though.
Now the boys have given up shoveling and are gearing up for a massive snowball fight! "The biggest ever, Mommy!"

Merme, to be honest, I think the seed magazines are gonna win--
Oh to have a young one in the house again---he must fill your life with so much joy!!! Loz--read what I typed to Merme---and I will reaffirm that thought--NO housework for carol---

loz ~ Maxi LOVES to shovel. This is his first year of having a shovel of his very own and he guards that thing manfully. He also earns a bit of cash putting it to use for the neighbors when he is feeling ambitious.
That is adorable about Athena writing notes back and forth.
When Maxi was 5, he thought I could solve all the world's ills by writing a note to somebody! He'd hear something on the news or hear our friends talking and he'd tell me "write a note, Mommy, and fix that!" He pediatrician laughed like crazy over it and told me not to clue the kid in that my notes are not All Powerful. He said he'd figure it out for himself over time. He believed in my notes for a long time...
Mel ~ I'm glad you are in for the day!
CarolJean ~I'm glad the catalogs won.

Merme, I thought your notes WERE all powerful! Now I'm disillusioned myself! Yeah, the note writing is fun. It takes her a while to write a short note so I have a while where I can do other stuff until it's my turn!
I bet Maxi is so excited when he makes some money from shoveling!
Glad I got to talk to you today Carol! Heading for my coffee right now!
And I'm glad that you don't have to work today Mel.
I thought it was very funny, Tina. But then, I have an odd sense of humor I suppose. My family has been calling me Merme for 49 years so it was amusing to hear a new spin on it.
And the snow is still falling.
I put s meatloaf in the oven, jazzed up with spaghetti sauce. I'll plate it over angel hair pasta later.

Hi all! I don't have a clue what we are going to have for dinner! Don still isn't eating everything after his throat surgery, Amy is very stuffy nosed, and I'm just not in the mood for anything...
It will be interesting to see what we end up with...
