Okay so it's not a REAL day off sort of holiday, but I enjoy all holidays in general---especially a romantic one. I was curious if you guys do anything special or have plans?
We NEVER go out. Either I cook a nice meal, or we get take out or delivery. I think this year I might try some new recipes and invite mom and dad over for dinner too. I remember last year talking about Valentines and seeing the pics of all the flowers, gifts you got....so I figured a new topic would be good so we have somewhere for that stuff.
I got Mark that movie 3:10 to Yuma, and I couldn't wait and I gave it to him already. I told him that in turn I'd take 2 webkinz. He said, I don't buy toys.
He used to get me roses but they are so expensive and they die so fast that I've just started telling him to get me a cheap mixed bouqet from Walmart or something. Or a houseplant because that'll live much longer than flowers.
We used to go out for supper but the past few years DH always had to work. I always get a card, flowers and a gift. Sometimes chocolate as well, we've got wonderful sweeties don't we?
I always buy him chocolate, a card and a gift also.

OH!! Loz--Don't you know????---Valentines day is a holiday invented by Hallmark-- ------------"The above is a direct quote from Rodney"------------
 I think he said that one year to cover his tracks when he forgot it--
I never forget--I always buy Rod some chocolate and a card. some years he gets me something nice & takes me out to eat & some years he does not even say "Happy Valentines Day". The last gift I got was Valentine's day 2005--which was the first Valentines day here in the new House. I got a white Valentine basket of houseplants.

We never really celebrated Valentines before either Carol, we'd just do the little box of chocolates and sometimes nothing but ever since he started working at his other job years ago, he goes all out. I think it's a competition thing among the guys, either way...I come ahead
I love the Hallmark remark

yea me too--(about the Hallmark remark)---I thought it was so funny when he said it I did not even get mad---
I agree--and I suspect the years I do get something is when the guys at work are comparing what they were going to do for their ladies.---and then there is the--what day of the week it falls on---he is not one to go out during the week much--
and yes if we come out ahead who cares why??

V-day has been all for the kids here. I enjoy putting together stuff for their classes. But Jonni has outgrown the class thing so it is just for Ted's now. John and I don't do much.

Long story-short. When picking out the wedding date. It was September so we knew we didnt want to be married around the holiday so we said January? No, next was February and we just looked at each other and that was it. I had 5 months to get ready. No problem!

Well as you all know I told Mark to get me flowers tomorrow when they are cheap, heck maybe I'll get chocolates too!
I did get a funny card with a lot of money in it....he was just feeling guilty because he took the same amount to a big hunting show he went to, so he gave me the same amount. Works for me.....
Well as far as what I got-- valarie came & spent part of the afternoon with me & had lunch here (In my mind that was a treat for me)
My nephew Brandon made a pink construction heart for me in his French class today. The poem on it is in french---It rhymes in french but not in english.
My Mommy made me some divinity--
Unless Rod has the flu (which may be the case) I will be taken out to eat this weekend as my Valentines present from him.

I got the biggest bouquet of flowers. Pics in the a.m. DH's boss gave all the men permission to drive into town to get gifts(they had been so busy with the storms).
DH said it was so funny...a gathering of men in dirty workclothes picking through flowers and geting bouquets arranged at the florist shop

I got a box of chocolates, 2 cards from Tristen, a card from James and a gift certificate to a spa. It is good for a 5 1/2 hour session at the spa but if I don't want to do that I can use it for different things at different times. I haven't decided what I will do yet but I am thinking that I will use it at different times. That way I can get pampered more often.
The lasagna was YUMMY....I think it's the best I've made yet....each time I make it I end up adding more and more ingredients...got half of a chocolate cake left, it was good---I used whipped icing this time.
Mark is out on his "flower run". He said I don't want everyone staring at me buying flowers the day after Valentines day.....I said who cares...tell them that I said to wait until the day after.
Well these flowers and such aren't from the florists...the discounted ones are the kind at the supermarket and walmart and such....all valentiney packaging so they are immediately reduced 50 percent off.
I even got a big box of Russell Stover chocolates.....my thighs are saying--NO, don't eat it. PS. I love chocolate.
