Weeks ago when I was sick Mark actually picked up the old vac to vacuum, I had to laugh though because before starting he looked at me and said, how do you turn this on? It was the first time he'd ever vacuumed our house! He also loaded the dishwasher and didn't know how to do that either! I had to tell him to put the plastics on the top.
So my question is, do any of your men do "womanly" work ever? I mean men in a relationship here.....my dad was single for many years so he had to do it all himself for a while......And I'm not saying men don't do it, or shouldn't do it...just curious whether or not yours help out around the house with the things....
I don't work outside the house so I do the housework, that's fine with me--as long as he doesn't ever think I'm his maid. I know when I'm sick it's so nice for him to make ME dinner! I think wow, this is nice having someone bring your food in to you each night!
Here's Mark caught in the act! We were both laughing pretty hard, I just had to capture it on camera!
Yeah Mark finally took the gun out of the living room a few days ago...he's done hunting now finally!
That's a bad pic because it was messy then....My acrylic paints all over the floor, a big piece of wood on the floor, the mop and stuff. It doesn't look like that now!
So a house cleaning man is better than a rich man? Proud to say I do my fair share of housework without being asked!

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
I feel the same way. Jeremy and I always both did the house work and cooked when I worked. We had a housekeeper that came in once a week. Now that I don't work I do most all of the cleaning and cooking. It makes me a nervous wreck if he starts cleaning. He works very hard to make it where I can stay home and be with Brennan. Jeremy takes very good care of me and Brennan. We don't want for anything. I think it's the least I can do. I know a lot of people may think that's wrong but it's what makes me more comfortable.

If you never have you should. These things are fun and fun is good.
At our house I do mostly all of the cooking and cleaning. James' cooking is heating up leftover pizza or microwaving some hot dogs. He only cleans if he absolutely has to. That means that we find out we are having unexpected company and I tell him he better get on the ball and help me pick the house up. Once in a while I get on him about not helping because I also work full time. The last time I did he said that he would vacuum and clean the bathroom. I told him that he had to either wash dishes (we don't have a dishwasher) or clean the bathroom and he chose bathroom duty. Well....that was about 2 months ago and he has cleaned the bathroom once and hasn't vacuumed yet! I always remind him that I am doing his jobs when I do them. He grew up in a large family where the girls did the house work so he got used to not having to do it. But...he lived by himself for years and had to do it himself but as soon as we moved into our house together he quit. Oh well! We can't have everything right??
I don't mind cleaning the house at all since I don't work--but I don't view it as my job or anything. I'm clean but not superfreaky clean.....
I just don't want Mark to ever think of me as his maid. I had to laugh becuase the other night he had an empty pepsi can here and I said, aren't you taking that out---he said, I thought you were.....I said HECK no....I may keep the house clean but you have two legs to pick up after yourself. Plus he works 4 tens now so he's off 3 days a week so he has more time now. His only "real" things I expect him to do are the trash, and the mowing. And any yucky thing--like bug killer, etc....
That time that I was sick and he vacuumed he also ran the dishwasher, cleaned the kitchen and wiped it all down and tidied it up, and he did SIX loads of laundry--which I regretted but didn't harp on him too much about. He throws wrong things, and wrong colors in together. One time he put my wool skirt in the dryer and shrunk it so small it would've fit Athena.
Dwight and I share the house work,, with us both working it's a given that he helps,, He even cleans the base boards,, and put an old towel on the end of a broom and "sweeps' the ceiling and upper corners of the walls,, and cleans the ceiling fans once a month ,,,, and he can cook some dishes better than me, His meatloaf is the best I've ever eaten and so is his stew! It takes him twice as long as me to do all the above but who cares, When I'm sick he waits on me hand and foot, brings my meals wakes me to take my medicine, takes my temp, runs my bath water, he's great with things like that. When he's sick he just wants to be left alone,.. period,, so I do,, although when he asleep I go check on him dang he sleeps sooooooo still I have to watch to see if his chest is moving when he breathes ,,scary sometimes But over all Dwight pulls his weight around here evenly and hasn't one time complained about my hours being cut and he has to make up the difference when it comes to paying bills,, Yep I got a keeper!!

Cindy--I am glad you are spoiled--it is about time, right ??
Diane--I think yo have a "keeper" too.
Loz--Rachel--I don't work outside the home either--and I do all the housework, which seems fair to me too--until now that is--While I am recovering from my surgeries, Rod does most of it--(I tell him what needs done, & then he does waht I ask)--he thinks he is doing a great job--NOT--but hey he is trying his best--and at least I do not have to feel like I need to clean anyway.
he DOES do a great job of vacuuming though !!!

Summer time,, I sure dont worry about house being super clean......Never is.. Houses are ment to be lived in.........I sure enjoy mine.......We pretty much share everything here. He uses the computer to play games when he wants, and I go watch tv.. We have 2 but the one in the kitchen has no couch... I love mowing lawn, so I do it all......I do all the flowers, but he does help in the garden...... We even share our disagreements...... And cold..
... I finally made him tell me where he put the gun cabinet key....
i just made mine give me one of the keys, so we each have one!
scott can keep house better than i can, but hates it worse, so he only does what i absolutely need him to. i'm ok with that. since i got sick last fall, he does a lot of things that a lot of men wouldn't want to, like getting up 2 hours early to brush my hair and put my socks on. so if he doesn't ever wash dishes, i don't care!

Scott is a good man to help you like that, Jiffy--
Tamara: when the girls were at that stage--DH gave me a key to the gun cabinet of my own.--that was not much better because i used it so seldom I would have to remind myself which key on my ring it actually was.
Now he has a gun safe--and since it has been so long since I have gone down and looked at it, I really need to see if it locks or if it has a combination--although MY gun is upstairs in the closet, using the old lock/key--so for protection I am good.

Ours is a gun safe as well but I always threw the key in my jewellery box~not a good thing if we ever had a break in so DH hid the keys together. I never dig in there so I never asked where it was hidden..now I know.
It's against the law here to have guns in a cabinet, they have to be out of sight in a fully enclosed steel box...with the ammunition stored seperately in a steel ammunition box.
~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
OK--back to men & housework--except--when I said gun cabinet--I did not mean the glass front kind--we had a small locked box for my gun and a homemade gun safe for all the rest of the guns--My dad has the conventional gun cabinet--and it would be NO problem to get into--just break the glass--
OK--back to men & housework here
DH even takes out the trash 2 times a week for me--and fills my bird feeders-- I guess I will keep him.-
