Hello all,

I wondered if someone would be able to identify my seedling from a description?

If you're feeling brave, I am trying to propagate Agapanthus from seed. I sprinkled quite a few seeds into some home-made compost.

The two seedlings that have come up are very big (already about 3 days old, and about 7-10 Cm's nigh, with a 5mm diameter thick white stem. The leaves are large also. They are a dark green colour, and are pointed, and also close at night to collect moisture (in my propagator).

They also have a slight cucumber type smell to them when I brush the leaves. This is why I'm asking, as not sure if I'm growing a cucurbit seedling from my compost heap?

Hope the above helps?

Thanks.

Please ignore this, as I've discovered what it was. There were a couple of pumpkin/squash seeds in the compost, and these have germinated. Seemed a shame, but I have pulled these out and thrown them back on my compost heap. I just don't have room for extra plants!
