latest update had fire and ambulance crews from 4 counties responding and the life flight helo is flying loops from the site to the hospital. still no confirmed fatalities, but families who are trying to sort out their loved ones are being shuffled to where there loved ones are, as determined by the police onsite. matthew is at our local fire station waiting for orders to go help, he's a volunteer, just voted in as sufficiently trained on monday.
no one knows what happened yet.

i made this its own post. lastest up date, the are closing roads to make it where ambulances can go in one way and out another. the local national guard unit has sent in fire support. still no word on exactly what happened.
the local radio station just said that they are pulling more rescue support from beaufort south carolina now. that makes 5 counties involved. scott talked to one of the fire departments here (not the station matthew is at) and they said they are ferrying water from here to the plant. thanks for the link loz thanks for being here with me tina and loz and all...
i was talking to faerywatcher when it first happened, i was telling her that something big was going on, but i had my radio off because i was on the phone.
Oh How sad!! It is showing on our FOX News station right now,, Prayers for the families of the injured and all employees. It's good to know Matthew is a volunteer to help where he's needed!

thank you all for praying with me... they are saying that they are down to around 9 or so missing, down from 60+
only a partial collapse of the building, they re-opened the river (it was closed looking for possible casualties who were blasted into the river, the refinery is on the river) and 32 admitted to the trauma center, more to other hospitals with less serious injuries.
OH My Goodness Jiffy----such a horiffic thing to have happened---My prayers go out to all involved- -and I am so proud of matthew--but I hope this won't be too much on him --being his first time out & all----

Jiffy prayers for all in this area and for Matthew his first time. Hopefully he will come through stronger. Been through several search and rescues as well as recoveries myself as a volunteer it is never easy.

current unofficial thought is 8 dead. so far, 2 of our friends that work there have checked in. joejoe's baseball coach is one of the confirmed (not published) dead. i finally made myself quit following it so close, had to for my sanity. the state road through there is still closed. and at dark yesterday they were still fighting hot spots. thank you all for the prayers and support
