This past summer I bought 6 new fish for the pond-fantails and 1 oranda. The oranda which I call Mr. Puffy, was probably not a good choice for a pond, but the research I did and questions I asked all said the reason they do not make good pond fish is because they are slow to get away from predators, which, thank goodness is not a problem where I live. SOOOOOOOOOOO, here is my problem.......he does not feel well and there are 2 white bumps, not patches, on him. 1 on the side of body and 1 on the face. Also, there is a weird pattern on the top of his head that looks like on of those cartoon characters that cracks open!?!? I bought a tank, filter, and pump to bring him inside but now what? Do I fill it with the pond water that he is in? And how do I treat him? Mom said salt treatment and then what? Fungus? HELP, I DON'T WANT TO LOOSE HIM! boohoo why

start off by filling the tank with pond water, that will keep him from going into shock. then gradually change it out. as for treating the ailments themselves, call the best aquarium in your area and tell them exactly what you told us. if he's saveable, they can help you do it. also, hopefully (crossing fingers here) someone will be able to help you here. keep us posted kissie

Hey Jiff, thanks for responding! I am keeping 3 windows open that I have posted in........here, a water garden forum mom suggested, and something called koi-vet forum I found. I guess I will start filling the tank with the pond water and wait and see if I get any other suggestions tonight, if not, I am calling a fish store ASAP in the morning!

thumbup sounds like you are on it. i just know, when a fish is sick, you want to change their water slowly. and since you are going to be putting it into a new tank, in a new environment, the water being the same is critical to start with. good luck.
