I came here looking to see if anyone else was doing this. I'm going to participate this year, and, I'm looking forward to it!

I do it everyyear! I'm getting my cameras ready now. Last year I submitted the BEST bird picture I've ever taken. I was amazed the bird co-operated so well, especially during the event. I put out fresh suet cakes and am ready!

It's like Christmas, Halloween, and Easter all rolled into one and designed to be as fun for adults as it is for children!
Happy Bird-Days to me, Happy Bird-Days to me.....

do any of you belong to a bird watching group? Wish we lived closer together and we could have our own group.

I am not a member of any group, but go to ALL the bird hikes that the Nashville Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society have each year. I know most of the local members well. My birding mentor was George Mayfield III, my father's best friend. His father, George Mayfield Jr. was the founder of the Tennessee Ornithological Society. There is a plaque set up in downtown Nashville where the first meeting was held. I HATE Parliamentary procedures and for that reason do NOT join ANY groups that might have meetings like that. I am fairly well known in Nashville birding circles, more for my eccentricities than for any birding knowledge.
Large groups of people do not bother birds in the least and actually are much better than individual birders by themselves, so we birders tend to go in crouds of from 5 to 40 people at a time.
