A swimming pool supply and accessory store was haveing a bankruptcy's liquidation sale! They had loads of solar items at 80% off! clap I saw it in the paper at work and it was to start at 12 noon. I got there about 1:30 , these people here are like heathens at sales like these. I figured I didn't stand a chance of finding solar items an hour and 1/2 after it started! boohoo to my surprise there were very few cars in the parking lot why
They had solar floating balls for pools, and hanging tear drop solars for around the pool. I got 3 small floating balls for $2.50 each, and 2 large floating balls for $3/75 each. clap they will show blue lights when it gets dark.

The tear drop solar has water in the base, and the light in it has a swirl effect,,alternating between blue, green and red, illuminating the water.<-$4.00.

They also had drinking 'party ware items. I got four heavy plastic margarita glasses for $1.00 shock grin the bottom of the glasses are weighted because they are supposed to fit in a " drink-floater" on the pool.

However!!!! I thought idea Heyyyyyyy I can set the glasses on the ground and sit the balls in them like a gazing ball! thumbup and that's what I did! lol

[Linked Image]

this shows the 25 cent glass better that I sat the large ball in,
[Linked Image]

The other large ball I'm letting Angel wings carry, and the smaller ball I'm letting a Fairy's flower petals hold, grin

[Linked Image]

So for about 20 bucks,, 3 small,2 large solar balls, a teardrop solar hanger, and 4 glasses,, clap

The store manager said He is stocking tonight with the white and red solar balls for tomorrow's sale, Should I go get some notme lol lol more???

The guy that brings the paper didn't come in today luckily someone else brought one,, I was on break and was looking thru it,,, If that store would have waited just one month they could have sold all their merchandise for a higher price and still made a killing,, they must have had to close down the store fast, because the doors are closed Sunday at 6pm forever.

Thanks Cheryl
I don't think they have been outside long enough to get a picture of the blue lights, it's been over cast all day,, and supposed to have heavy rains tomarrow,, When I can get a good picture at night I will

What a great find, Diane!!!

I say yes to going back for red and white ones - then you'll be all set up for Memorial Day and the Fourth of July!

I like how you placed them all, and the teardrop one is really cool hanging like that!

Will you post pictures of them at night please?

Thanks Lynne and Loz!

I was able to get night pictures,,

[Linked Image]

and the tear drop changing colors,, it doesn't swirl like it said,, It gradually fades into the next color,, making the color look a soft red to amber orange, to soft brown to green to soft blue then dark lavender back into red again as it fades from one color another color grows into prominence maybe that's what they mean by 'swirl?' I like it better this way anyway!!

Whats cool is that you can't see the drink glasses in the dark.. So it looks like the 3 balls are suspended in air! lol lol

WOW!!! You really found a deal. They do last a long time. I brought some small ones about 5 years ago and the small ones were 6.00. I wish I could find a sale like that.

Thanks Cinta,, It's good to hear they last a long time!,, I couldn't believe in just a couple of hours of overcast skys it was still enough to charge them to get night pictures,, ,, dang 5 years ago they are $6.00 WOW,, I think that has certainly persuaded me to go back for more! lol lol

Thanks Lynne! I'm glad I read the paper today! clap they had butterflys, a hummingbird, and a sun,, I thought it looked kinda cheesy as they were soooooooo little but the poles were long with a big bulky solar box connected to the pole so I didn't get it they only had a few, I think they were 2.00. I'm sooooooo there in the morning when they open,, with the balls being that cheap,, it might be a good idea to stock up for gifts! notme

Yep 5 years and I do not bring them inside in the winter. I thought they would only last a year. It is glowing tonight and we have been cloudy for days...what am I saying it has been weeks. I am in denial.

Maybe if we talk real nice to you we can send you some money and you pick us all some up. J/K.

I went back today and got some more ~ some of them wasn't even in boxes,, I'm not saying how many I got neenee notme some of these will be for gifts,, The ones not in boxes I don't know what colors they are I'll have to charge them and see.
To answer Carol's Question,,Ohhhhh yes I have room for them all I could line a sidewalk with them use them for the willy village,, Put them randomly in the flower beds,, they can be used anywhere! lol I want to use a large white one for the center of my patio table I'll have to find a nice bowl to set it in,, I wish I had a pond or fountain for some of them! why

Could you dig out a little pond? Emmy would be in there swimming huh? lol

I'm so glad you went back and got more of them, I would have too! I probably would've snapped them all up! haha

Solar things are the best...my absolute favorite! thumbup Mark thinks I tend to overdo the solar stuff but I love it! If it looks like an airplane landing strip in my yard then so be it! lol

Have you thought of having a pond though for real? I guess you could put a little picket fence around it to keep her out... lol

Solar is the way to go, can't get enough of things magically being lit up here and there throughout the yard. clap

I went to the web site of the biggest pool place in Charlotte and they don't even have solar lighting, just battery operated. It's pretty and colorful but I'd rather have solar.

You two should go for it with a pond....mine isn't too hard to keep up.

I dug my little pond. It is not hard. It took me 3 months but I did it. It is only 6 x 8 with a little waterfall. I put one of the solar balls in it and it is pretty at night.

If I can do you can do it. I am glad you went back. You would have kicked yourself this summer when you see all the places you could have used them.

Yes I did it myself. One shovel load of soil at a time. LOL.

I brought one of those preform ponds. I dug out the hole deep enough about 4'down 6' wide. I put some water on the soil to make it softer to dig in. I had a new retaining wall put in and saved the rocks from the old wall to make the waterfall.

I cannot wait to move. The new/old house has a swimming pool and I am going to have it filled in and I can have a big pond without digging. I am going to make the pool house into a greenhouse.

Cool, Aud. In the new pond you can also have drainage in it. That can be awesome if you ever want to redo your pond. Our pond in on a level part of a hillside and we can siphon most of the water out. But John always kicked himself for not setting up a bottom drain. We have taken ours apart twice because we got a nasty algae or something in it. Had to thoroughly clean all those rocks and the liner with bleach before we put it back together. Put the fish into the hot tub until it was done.

I will go to Lowe's and see if they have "pond kits" and dig myself one. How did you dig your water line to it?
