I'd love to have cherries on a bush rather than on a tree. Can anyone tell me about these? I live the dark sweet cherries rather than the tart ones. Would I still need a tree cherry tree to polinate? Anything you can tell me would be great.

I tried planting a cherry tree before. It died, so I planted a peach & a nectarine tree. Currently, the nectarine tree is blooming,& the peach tree's buds are swelling.
Waiting for fall...

We have a cherry tree.. I am not sure if you can get cherry bushes.. can you? That would be cool if you could though.. we get lots of cherries on our tree.. but last year was the first year we got to them before the birds did.. and they weren't very good.. I am not sure why.. so we just let the birds have them.. lol It is a pretty little tree though.
This year I really want to plant some other fruit trees.. gala apples and peaches. I have no idea when to plant though.. I need to start doing some research.

I can't plant apples; the winter's too mild. I get no snow at all. I'm growing a peach tree and a nectarine tree. The nectarine tree's blooming in heavy rain. I'm hand pollinating the blooms in drenching rain.Hope your trees are doing well. P.S. I also grow vegetables.

I just found out that nectarine & peach trees are self-pollinating.

Yep, Every single one of them. I would go out and they would be red not ready to pick. I would go out the next morning and every cherry was eaten and I would have all these seeds hanging on the tree. It was a mature tree. I would have needed a very tall ladder to get even the lower ones I would never have been able to get the top ones but it did not matter the birds could reach those also.

My aunt had a cherry tree. Birds never ate the fruits although they were black cherries.
