I bought a packet of jalapeno seeds from Wal-Mart yesterday.Anyone have tips on how to grow them??? why

They like warm feet. 80-90 degrees for the soil temperature. I use a heat mat to start mine. They come much more quickly if kept plenty warm.

Since I can't afford a heat mat,I found a way around.It worked well for my squash.I'll give them warm water when it's time to water them.I've got to make sure the water's not too hot or they'll die.

The heat from sitting them on the top of your fridge works as well.

I've had good luck just setting them in the bathroom which I keep warmer. I keep it around 80 and have good germination that way.

I have a bunch of old heating pads that I have used for years. The ones in the store now automatically shut off after 30 minutes or so therefore you have to get ones that don't do that. The heating mats for seed starting are way more expensive!!! I don't have anywhere to sprout the seeds that is warm and cat proof so that doesn't work for me. I just plant in seed trays on a heating pad set to med-high.
