yeah I was a little afraid of him, the dogs had been barking and chasing him around the yard and so they had him worked up, but he still seemed friendly enough.
I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once. -Jennifer Unlimited- Yard Update -April 2012
these were here when we bought the house almost 5 years ago,, this is the first year they(iris ever bloomed in Feb,, we've had fluctuating temps of 38 - 77 for the past few weeks,, and really a very mild winter compared to last year,
"Grace without perfection is more to be desired than perfection without grace."
We are still completely covered in snow, and they just said in a news commercial that another storm is on the way - but didn't say when!
Your flowers are sooooooooooo pretty! And I know that blue planter - you got it at Joann's right? It looks so good on your tree - I wanted to buy one but didn't know where I'd put it - now I know!
Yep Lynne It's from Joanns from a couple of years ago,, I got two of them, I think were $4 apiece on clearance.
Dodge I have more of those stones somewhere buried under leaves,, I used for over winter mulching,, I still need to complete the circle around the tree, I'll find them eventually.
They say welcome, serenity, Beauty, tranquility, patience, hope, prayer, and sharing,, Ummmmmmmmmmm I think that's it!
I had to separate some of those irises they were getting crowded,, who ever planted them just planted them on one side quarter of the tree so I put several around the tree,, and planted cone flowers in inbetween areas so this spring they will start growing when the irises are 'resting'.

I thought so .I have 2 tiny flat stones that say that ......What a cool idea you have there angelblossom.
Something else.....Your camera picked up the beautiful purple color like no other.Mine gets confused at colors like purple and blue. Bravo............for or ab
Who is Joanne? I love that cobalt blue pot. That is the color of the edging around my kitchen countes. I've got sedum in the ground - never thought about putting it in a pot. That's why I love this forum - good ideas abound. Is that a gazing ball in the background in the iris's around the tree picture? It's a pretty color. You have such pretty stuff.

Yep that's a gazing ball,, I have it in a terracotta pot it's a small ball and wouldn't fit a standard gazing ball stand,, and I didn't want to pay $10 for a small stand,, so into a pot it went I went to Lowe's yesterday on the way home,, they always have a 50 Cents to $1.00 shelf,, they plants are always very dry, in bad shape, frost burnt etc.
I got White Soprano Osteospermum , Persian buttercups ( they were really bad, but for 50cent for a 6inch pot it was still blooming struggling but blooming, and 2 goldalia Scarlet Dahlia's. I trimmed off most the bad leaves and sat all the pots down in an old cake pan and filled the pan 1/2 way with rain water and a little superthrive,, Today when I got home they were perked back up and I've planted all but the dahlia' I haven't decided where they will go,, The white soprano's have blue centers dotted with yellow,, these are my fav's.. If they had more I would have gotten several!
The Persian buttercups were in the worse shape ,, I hope they make it!
I like the bright colors of this goldalia Scarlet I may put these in the front yard somewhere,,
Dodge sometimes my camera surprises me getting capturing true colors

Diane!!! I just LOVE that Osteospermum! I grew it once here - it did not get as big as my purple ones, and they are not hardy here, but I just LOVE the colors! You did SO GOOD once again!
And the colors of that dahlia are unlike any I've seen before - WOW!
And I've never seen a buttercup shaped like that before - very interesting!
What is the pale purple/white flower next to the yellow buttercup?
A crocus may not be that thrilling but it always is to me....the first flower I see after a long winter of dreariness and no blooms. I get so excited for my crocuses to flower. This year they are very early.
I have tons of bulbs in my yard and they are all pushing up good, but this solitary little guy was the only one out today---made me all excited.
Who says crocuses are not thrilling, loz??? I think their perky brightness, first sign of spring is very special indeed! And I love the bright yellow of yours - thanks for sharing!
Yes .....I made a new tulip bed again......Crocus also.. Am hoping they do show up.....Some day..... It was 50º today.. Suppose to be 60º monday.. Then drop back to the 30ies again. And more snow.
That's right Barb I think I remember pics of your tulips or was it daffodils? That you have all in a big line?
That is the EXACT same weather we are supposed to have....50's today, 60's tomorrow, and then back to the 30's.
Lynne, I'm glad I'm not the only crocus lover.....compared to the garden in the summer, that one crocus seems so tiny and lonely...but it's a sure sign spring is just about here--I hope. I have purple crocuses further in the yard.....lots of yellow ones sprinkled all over the place here and there...
Hyacinths are coming up, as are the daffs, and tulips.
My tulip bed drowned last year and most rotted.. We had so much rain.. You may be thinking of the Lilys.......THey were gorgous.....as always.. Some one sent me seeds for Asiatic Lilys, and they are growing in a planter for me .. About 3 inches tall.. I had my doubts on lilyseeds, Till they showed up.
I have handed out so many of the tiny babies on the lily plants.. They bloom even when they were 6 inches tall.......... So now I have learned something again.
I took a Gala apple seed and started last year .. The tree is about 3 foot tall outside.....If ole man winter didnt ruin it.....
Yes we all love spring, but we know were last to get it.. But it is loved just the same. d
I'm starting to think about how stupid I was last year... I planted two large planters, one with reticula iris, and one with crocuses. I'm pretty sure the two tubs both froze soild now, you think there's still hope for blooms?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
*iris reticulata, no wonder reticula sounded weird

Ken Not stupid......I think the crocus should bloom.. They all freeze solid in the ground.. We all experiment to see what happens.. Perennials need to freeze.
Your doing well......You always did before.. I remember . Let us know what happens.
I have crocus blooming and more coming up I think this one looks like feathered wings furled
More rising to the occasion
Fushia Pink hyacinth and apricot tulips coming up The thing is this year they are opening before the stock gets tall enough I didn't add any soil on top,, It seems like those tulips are too deep,, what do you think I should do,, maybe "lift them' next fall???
